The Avengers The "I Believe In Mark Ruffalo!" Support Thread

"I'll be the first actor to actually PLAY Hulk, not Banner though. That's like my generation's Hamlet man, we all get a shot!"

Can't wait for his next interview
to smash , or not to smash ....that is the question

Maybe Ruffalo will pick up Iron Man's helmet at some point and say "Alas poor shell head, Hulk knew him well."

And speaking of Shell head, I hope Iron Man eventually gets that name. Hulk giving it to him would be a prime opportunity, and then it can extend later to everyone else using it affectionately.

Hulk would be the ideal one to give out the monikers to both shell-head & goldilocks.

Agreed. I used to always say, despite what I personally felt of the tv show, Bixby was not only the saving grace but one of the greatest actors the genre has ever seen.

For me, it always went back to his eyes. There's an intensity to Bill that was very much real. He was said to be a very stern and direct person naturally, and I feel as though he channeled a lot of that with his performance. He was very charming, extremely believable as a scientist, and somebody you could relate to. But there was still a look in his eyes that something was bubbling underneath. Not just a rage, but sadness too. In the pilot episode, when he first awakens from his nightmare, in bed alone, and fights back tears, it pretty much exemplifies everything he brought to the role. Something not even the great Ed Norton did...which is pain...

This is true. Not that the look of the Hulk was so bad at the time, but Bixby was so talented that one couldn't help but view and take his wide range of emotion serious. He made you believe that he feared getting angry and bringing out what was in him.

Both movies have failed to give us the captivating change into Hulk that the "Bixby eyes" did about 30 years ago, along with that haunting ring made for many an intense moment.

hmm.. will the Hulk have wild, curly hair now..?

I'd like to see some more power stunts with hulk, like shockwaves, tornado breath, etc.

Agreed.

I'd like to see more power from Hulk. A hurricane force thunderclap would suffice.

I could live without tornado breath lol.

We've already seen the thunderclap, in TIH, which I thought was perfect. A hurricane force thunderclap? I'm not sure what you mean by that, but it can't have 'hurricane force' unless you have sustained winds, which would not make sense for Hulk to be able to do.

In an early issue of the comic, Hulk's thunder clap was said to be near nuclear in proportion. I'm referring to the results.

The thunderclap we got was good enough.

It was ok but I would've liked one powerful enough to lift vehicles off the ground & overturn them for a short span. Or baring that, a ground pound that could achieve a similar effect(minor localized eathquake).

This is what I'm talking about!!!

Mark Ruffalo's Twitter:

Sadly not Wisconsin. I am in New Mexico on the set of Avengers between camera set ups. Just worked with Sam Jackson!

Don't get the Wisconsin reference. Is that his home?

Maybe for some reason he thought he'd be filming there and sent a bunch of his buddies (or fans) to Wisconsin to watch him work. A big surprise they would've all been in for when it turned out he was actually in New Mexico.

Both Hulks in Ang Lee's Hulk and TIH looked as if they were carrying around water inside their bodies, as if they were inflated balloons. This was especially the case in Hulk (2003), but still noticeable in TIH. They both had too much of a fluid motion when they moved, as if there was no bone structure under their skin, and they seemed to have no real weight to them.

I hope Ruffalo's Hulk is more realistic and blends with the other Avengers. It would've looked more realistic if Marvel used that body reshaper technology which allows an actual filmed person to look more muscular, taller etc. That way they could've actually filmed someone like Lou Ferrigno (or another body builder) and made his proportions superhumanly large, but at least it would've still looked realistic within the movie.
