The "I hated Spider-Man 3" Thread!

If you were a director and hated Man-Wolf and you were forced to put him into the movie somewhere, would you make him the main villain or a side villain, would you keep him alive at the end of the movie,or would you kill him off?

“Spiderman 3 leads up to nothing but a bunch of silly jokes”

Don’t believe me? Well here goes. The acting and dialogue is forced, cheesy and just well….awful. Peter and MJ’s relationship is equivalent to that of a high school couple. I’ve never liked Dust in these movies.

Harry’s accident not only caused memory loss but also a stupid grin and the voice of a mentally handicapped person. He’s was no longer the Harry that we love he’s just Harry the ******.

Gwen Stacy was perfect. Peter should’ve just tapped that when he had the chance.

Sandman is not the badass that we see in the comics. Apparently the machine drains him of all toughness, leaves him without a dick and balls and leaves him emotionally unstable.

As a friend of mine pointed out Thomas Haden Church looks shockingly like Jim Varney…..you may also know him as this guy:

varney01.jpg

Earnest

I think I would’ve rather seen Earnest in this movie rather than sandman. At least it might have made some kind of comedic redeeming value.

Stan lee’s one liner should’ve been “Wow Sam really ****ed up this time”

I laughed at all the serious moments and scratched my head at all the “comedic” moments. I DIDN’T KNOW PETER PARKER WAS A DANCER! Maybe Tobey should be cast on the next dancing with the stars?

I never thought in a million years…….

donimus2.jpg

Don Imus would pop into my head during this movie….that was until……. MJ kissed Harry. I couldn’t help but call her a NAPPY HEADED HOE. The audience seemed to really like that. I gave myself a pat on the back.

What’s up with Harry’s butler? He seemed like he was just thrown in there to make everything come together. I bet they were really scratching for ideas to make Harry have a change of heart. “Lets add some random old man and the story will come together” YEAH! THAT’S IT! Where was he in Spiderman 1 & 2? All of a sudden were supposed to believe that this man exists in our Spiderman movies? This old bastard also claims to have cleaned Norman Osborn’s wounds. Sounds like necrophilia to me…..

Venom was the only good quality of this movie……and they got rid of him….(he’s not dead morons, he got out of the way just in time).

Peter really WAS Emo. Don’t believe me? Watch him nudge his hair to the side every now and again.

During the movie many items were thrown at the screen…..large objects, no joke…….if you hadn’t realized how horrible this movie was ¾ of the way through you were either:

A. 5 years old
B. A fan boy in denial
C. Stepped into the wrong theatre when you were actually going to see “Are We Done Yet?” starring Ice Cube

No final swing??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????/??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Overall this movie was GREAT! Highly Recommended!

Using the X3 analogy was dead ass on perfect! I mean only this time the original director was there to finish the 3rd movie. Going into the movie I was like "well this is gonna be better than X3 because Sam Raimi is still here." I wished maybe he wouldn't have been. I mean I didn't hate it, but I wasn't madly in-love with it either. Sandman should have never been in the movie period! This movie should have been souley about Venom and Harry. It would have taken Peter and Harry both to fight off Venom. I mean peter depends on his spider-sense SO much and it is completely nullified when he fights Venom. They didn't even touch on that at all! Peter's first time against Venom....yeah he would have needed help with Eddie, especially for thier first encounter. Take Flint out of the movie and they would have had enough time to make sure the story between Peter and Eddie was solid. Cinematically Venom was very good, I don't think that he could have been better. Topher was a good Eddie, I mean Eddie is pushy and annoying and Topher played it perfectly! I have to see this movie 2 more times now (not because I want to). Once because my friends and I are going to Chatanooga 2nite and my buddy has already purchased the tickets. And then once with my son (he's 3), I hope this doesn't have a lasting impression on him that "that's the way Venom is supposed to be".

so it sounds like this one sucked as much as spider-man 2. i wonder if i should even bother to go see it.

Nolan Please... Break This ****ing Curse.... I Beg You.... In Nolan We ****ing Trust!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They needed to emphasize the black-suit's power under Spider-Man's use. I wanted to see him perform some superhuman feats he couldn't have done otherwise. The potential was there and it was wasted.

I didn't hate it, but I was disappointed with two main parts.

The black suit Spider-man. It was just done too campy for me, and reminded me of Superman 3 when he gets exposed to red kryptonite and becomes a bad guy. Parker going emo and strutting just isn't enough. I wanted to go over the edge, and not just with Harry.

Spider-man revealing himself (again) to the villain. Most comic book movies are guilty of this. What's the point of having a mask if you're just going to take it off so easily?

I didn't really have problem with Sandman being Uncle Ben's killer. It wasn't necessary, but I understand why they did it. And it does sound like something the comics might do just to re-vamp a character. But they could have easily just have had Sandman kill a random guy by accident like he did with Ben, have Parker find out about it, and then because of the suit, he re-imagines Sandman as Ben's killer, which still makes him go over the edge.

So, no, didn't hate. But disappointed. And this is coming from someone who liked Spider-man 2 very much.

Sandman was a joke... an absolute joke... I expected him to be one of the better aspects of the film... many people said THC owned it... he owned crapping the **** out of it... not saying there was no place for him in the film... but damn he sucked simple as that... I really can't be that eloquent describing it other than putting it as bluntly as that...

you see this is why i didn't get all excited for this movie. you want to know how half assed I was about getting ready for spider-man 3 I was. I forgot that this was opening weekend. I looked at the board at my local theater and saw "opening this week spider-man 3" and I thought "what? already? oh, i guess I'll go see it." Rami ****ed up 2 and i have not really been that pumped to see 3, but i guess I will, its not like i have anything better to do tonight.
whatever.

See it soon though before you let other people's opinions judge your opinion before going in... ^^^ it has a few cool scenes... but its eye candy... nothing more... and be prepared for acting on par with Hayden and Natalie from the prequels... yes its that bad...

It collapses under its own weight. it's a big bloated dissapointment that stumbles and trips over it's over stuffed self in the end.

X3 now has a friend.

Thanks a lot Raimi, damn.

I really LOVED this movie to be honest. There was a lot of differences between the unfinished version I saw and the finished version. However, a lot wasn't explained because Sony wanted Raimi to cut a lot because too much drama was getting boring

Any still think Sony is rushing SM4 into production once they see the Box Office Drop off next weekend.... I CAN'T ****ING WAIT!!!!!!!!!

spider-man 4 might be DOA. if the box office does drop off a lot, we might not see one. I also doubt that anyone from this movie will come back now. big deal. Marvel studios has spent enough money and time on spider-man. Time to kill some other hero's story. When is captain america due out?
Maybe they can make a deadpool movie, he has a large cast of characters to f'up. we'll see

I would really love to hear form C.Lee the only hype member I know of who was alive when Superman 3 was released.

What do you think, Lee? Deja Vu?

Living x-men 3 all f*****g over again, i f*****g HATE These GODDAMN Producers Who Have No Artistic Talent and F Everything UP!!!!

I would really love to hear form C.Lee the only hype member I know of who was alive when Superman 3 was released.

What do you think, Lee? Deja Vu?

i was 3 when it came out, but my mother took me to see return of the jedi rather than superman 3.
Much better choice mom:woot:

i believe in Sam, i believe it was the producers fault that screwed it up. they wanted too much!

Lets just let it go people... I know we invested a lot of time hyping this flick up.... but it IS only a movie... just let it go... and start studying for your finals

I dont understand how you guys hated this..

It was pretty much a continuation of the first 2.

I loved it...on par with 2 in my opinion...it doesnt even compare with the crap of x-men 3, or the mediocracy of superman returns.

I put it on the same level as batman begins and spider-man 2..but maybe thats just me..

I see that you guys didnt like the dance scene...ok but its raimi..hes a cheese director..eventually a scene like that would have come..

But w/e everyone is entitled to their own opinion, i hope you guys like 4 more.

Wow. I wanted to love this but cannot...

This movie was like a sitcom reunion where the cast reprises their roles after years, but only come of as shadows of their former self... Mockeries...

The comic book franchises are learning the hard way what a slippery slope utilizing too many characters in one movie is.

We did not need Venom. Who the **** was Venom in this?

Venom was forced on Ramai ha needed his own movie later on with a different director. The whole Venom story occured during a different era in Spidey as it is. Shouldve been Lizard and maybe Sandman or Vulture.

The rock falling from the sky..?

Venom knew how to use his powers in 5 seconds?

The scene where Venom finds Sandman and somehow knows Sandmans whole deal and relationship with Spiderman even though he had never even met him?
That was the most rediculous thing I've ever seen. That 30 seconds proved to me what a joke the whole idea of Venom even being in this movie was.

The hero losing his innocense... It dont work... Not in Superman and not in Spiderman. Its a fun concept hypothetically, but in the end it taints everything.

They didnt even try to utilize the JJ son and MJ issue. It was just ignored... Coudve been great. I wonder if the cast and filmakers realize all these things...

Characters fighting side by side and with fantastic chemistry even though its he first time theyve ever worked together?

Too many coincidences and too many "matter of facts" I couldnt suspend my disbelief the way this movie demanded....

Effects were amazing. Awesome! Some of the best ever. Too bad none of that mattered because the meaning behind it all was tarnished beyond repair.
I dont care how cool something looks if I dont care about the characters and the motivation behind whats happening it might as well not occur...

There are other things.... Tons.. But I just got home from the movie and I think Ive gotten out enough for now...

Peace
Konee

The Scorpion created a thread titled "Blame the producers of spidey 3 for this disappointment" with the article below. It's a shame it went down like this:

Producers Beefed Up Spidey 3

12:00 AM, 27-APRIL-07

Sam Raimi, writer/director of Spider-Man 3, told SCI FI Wire that he had a smaller sequel in mind with fewer characters, until producers Avi Arad and Laura Ziskin suggested adding a key villain and a key love interest. "I had worked on the story with my brother, Ivan, and primarily it was a story that featured the Sandman [Thomas Haden Church]," Raimi said in a news conference in Beverly Hills, Calif., last week. "It was really about Peter, Mary Jane, Harry and that new character."

That's Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Tobey Maguire), Mary Jane Watson (Kirsten Dunst) and Harry Osborn (James Franco). Then Ziskin suggested adding Gwen Stacy, played by Bryce Dallas Howard, a popular character in the Marvel comics, who was Peter Parker's first love interest before she perished and before Mary Jane Watson appeared.

"Well, my brother and I had written in the story about another woman that recognized Peter and knew who he was at this dinner and that Mary Jane got jealous of her," Raimi said. "But Laura Ziskin, my producer, said, 'Let's make it Gwen.' And I said, 'I don't think I should, because, ... really, Gwen was introduced before Mary Jane in the comic books, and now I'm introducing her later, and ... she's not even in high school anymore. She's in college. And I'm afraid if I introduce Gwen, the fans will have all these expectations, which we're not going to deliver in this picture.' And she said, 'Well, the fans would much rather have Gwen make an introduction now, and you can do what you need to do or someone can do what they need to do in the fourth picture with her, but at least you've introduced her, and they would appreciate that.'"

Raimi said he considered the suggestion. "After much soul-searching, I thought, 'Maybe it's true. I've already screwed up the order, and I've already started the Mary Jane [storyline] first,'" Raimi said. "'Whenever [Gwen's] introduced, she'll be introduced in the wrong order. I might as well give the fans the introduction to Gwen.' So I took her advice and named her Gwen Stacy and therefore connected her to a policeman who had been on the periphery of the scenes [and became her father, Capt. Stacy, played by James Cromwell]. Made a little stronger relationship between them but, not much, just enough to be true to the fact that she was his daughter. That's about all."

As he has discussed previously, Raimi added that it was Arad's idea to add the villain Venom to the mix. "Avi Arad, my partner and the former president of Marvel at the time, said to me, 'Sam, ... you're not paying attention to the fans enough,'" Raimi said. "'You need to think about them. You've made two movies now with your favorite villains, and now you're about to make another one with your favorite villains. The fans love Venom. He is the fan favorite. All Spider-Man readers love Venom, and even though you came from '70s Spider-Man, this is what the kids are thinking about. Please incorporate Venom. Listen to the fans now.' And so that's really where I realized, 'OK, maybe I don't have the whole Spider-Man universe in my head. I need to learn a little bit more about Spider-Man and maybe incorporate this villain to make some of the real die-hard fans of Spider-Man finally happy.'" Spider-Man 3 opens May 4.
