The "I hated Spider-Man 3" Thread!

Basically, it was like "Hey, you hate Spider-Man and I hate Spider-Man, lets together!" There was no real sense of plausibility behind that segment due to the utterly lazy screenplay.

Not to mention they played Marko up as "not really a killer". And then Venom comes along and says "I want to kill the spider, you want to KILL the spider, together he doesn't stand a chance." And then he's just like "ok". :whatever:

It was terrible writing.

Because that's how it happened in comics?

Btw, Venom used first-person in his initial appearances in the comics.

That's true. He did talk in the first person.

But you seem to have forgotten that the way he got the suit IS NOT the same as the comics. We actually already covered this. Look at the next post.

Yeah, actually not really. In the comics it's days, maybe even weeks before Eddie is in the same church that Peter went into. The alien was slowly dieing in the shadows. And he isn't there to pray for the death of Peter, but to pray for himself because he was thinking about suicide. He also said he had gone from church to church all over New York before getting to that one. Which again, makes it less of a coincidence.

So yeah. You're wrong on this one. Which is suprising considering you appear to be a huge Venom fan.

What he said.

I'm one of the biggest Spider-Man fans ever and I didn't even like this movie. Just like I told my friends and family, they stretched out too many of the scenes like Peter's Confidence Walk and they totally wussified Venom, I could go on and on about it.

Yeah I found it odd that the Sandman actually fought to the death with Peter and Harry, just to say "I'm sorry it was an accident". Why not just tell him before the fight and make it a 3 on 1 match?

good point

i hope to god they can rami and string him up for this, then redo venom PROPERLY (ie his own film) and move onto Carnage bumping up the ages for both to 15 and 18 respectively, because carnage as a character simply CANNOT star in a movie less than a 15 rating at a pinch, Carnage is a Psycho bonded to a Psycho, i reckon we(people on the Hype) should direct these movies now :P we'd do a damn sight better than rami ever will after 3 and to think he said in an interview "i respect the source material of these comics"....umm excuse me Mr. Rami i think you need to look up the meaning of that word.

Oh hell no. If your post is any indication, you would be the Joel Shumacher to Raimi's Tim Burton.

I still cannot understand the hate for this film. Aside from a few things, it really wasn't as bad as some of you are making it out to be.

I don't hate it . For me it's more of a case of missed opportunies and bad choices . The whole Sandman/Uncle Ben thing was one of them . There was just too many underdevolped and half baked idea's and storylines IMO. I understand their dilema .

They had alot of different ways they could have gone . They had Hobgoblin, Vulture, Sandman , Venom even the Lizard to choose from as villians .

They didn't know how to resolve the whole Harry/Goblin story.

They wanted to throw in another love interest into the Peter/ MJ mix.

They wanted the third to be the biggest of all .

Instead of just taking a couple ideas they took everything from the suggestion box . As result the film suffers under the weight of everything going on .

plain and simple Sam Raimi did a " half=ass " job on this film, i don't hate it, but they could have done a lot more with it imo

I admit it wasnt as good as i thought it was going to be but Im disappointed that others feel the same! Do you reckon there will be a 4th film?

Spider-Man 4 has already been confirmed. Probably a 2010 release.

I must have missed the scenes where Marko was so adamantly against killing. :whatever:

He wasn't being played up as a pacifist, he was depicted as someone who means well but can't help but make bad choices. Robbing banks? Bad choice. Trying to kill the city's resident superhero? Bad choice. But they were all born out of the necessity and desperation of his good intentions (namely, his goal to get help for his daughter).

There was no necessity in killing Spider-man - by the time Venom showed up and offerered the team up, Spidey was under the impression Sandman was dead.

Why team up with a crazed alien to kill a superhero when said hero thinks yer dead and gone?

Staying true to Sandman's character, he would have slapped Venom's hand away and robbed 15 banks while Spidey dealt with Venom.

Instead he pounded Spidey into a metallic beam for 5 mins then got away with an apology!

Because that element of surprise would have been blown the minute he started robbing another bank.

Is it really that hard to understand why Marko was so easily cajoled by Venom? Twice he tried to get money for his daughter, and twice he was thwarted by Spider-Man. As long as Spidey was in his way, Marko could never get the money to help his daughter.

Seriously?

How wasn't the element of surprise lost when he made himself 100 feet tall and started attacking the police in the middle of New York? :whatever:

I guess you did...

"I don't want to hurt you, leave now."

Last I checked killing someone is a step above hurting someone.:whatever:

He didn't reluctantly say ok to Venom. He was just like "ok" all nonchalant like.

And he took a swing at him not three seconds later. He doesn't want to hurt, kill, maim, steal, etc. but he feels he's forced to in order to help his daughter. Hence the whole "we always have a choice" bit at the end; Marko feels he doesn't have a choice in doing the things he does, that he is forced to do them out of necessity, which Peter reprimands him for at the end of the movie.

Also, I don't think you know what "nonchalant" means.

That's not what I'm arguing. Vile said Sandman should have just robbed another bank while Spidey thought he was dead, which, as I said, would have been pointless. The second Marko even approaches a bank, that police scanner in Pete's apartment is gonna go off.

Let's say I give you all that. Why the F@#* did Peter let the Sand Man just leave after he has robbed how many banks, shot his uncle, and tried to kill him?

And if he didn't say it nonchalantly, how did he say it? Full of zeal?

And on a side note, I want you to continue to convince me this movie wasn't as bad as I thought it was. I wanted to love it so much, but ended up just living with it wanting it to be so much better. Unfortunately no amount of discussion can change Peter's hair style in the emo parts.

It seems like a lot of people don't like ths movie because of so called "plot holes" that are just them not inferring enough about plot devices.

I was refering to when Venom offered Marko the teamup - Its pretty obvious that if Sandy turned him down Venom would have went on with his scheme.

Police scanner or not, Spidey battling Venom to save MJ would have been the perfect time to make off with millions. And more in keeping with his, "I dont want to hurt you, leave now" characterization we were offered.

Not transform into a giant sandmonster, pound Spidey nearly to death, admit to murder and get off with an apology.

Lets face it folks - Sandman should have DIED by Symbiote Spidey's hand. Then his character would have been worthwhile.
