The "I loved Spider-Man 3" Thread!

Despite what other people think, I thought the symbiote's part in the story was great. It made Peter agressive, in more ways then one. He was brutal in his fighting, but in his social life, he was a geek. Which makes sense. If he's going to be assertive, that doesn't mean he's going to suddenly be cool; he's just going to flaunt his "style." I thougt his fight with Sandman in the subway was awesome, but short.

Well just spouting things we like isn't much for conversation. Especially if it is just the same people and same things over and over again. It gets old kind of like the complaints.

however. I really liked Harry in this movie. Costume and all. I also loved how he died, not neccesarily that he died though since I'm going to miss both him and James Franco in these movies. But his "pie" line in the movie I remember made me laugh. And his fights with peter were probably the best two fights in the movie. His scenes with MJ also seemed to have more chemistry than the ones between MJ and Peter, I think that was kind of the point, but MJ was more her comics self with Harry in the movie. Especially at the Spider-man day celebration where she sort of covered up her feelings/insecurities more.

That and the Sandman fight on the street in the armored car. That was classic.

First of all to the guy whining about getting on topic. Just to let you know you aren't helping any. At least the complaints are about SM3 all your doing is complaining that people are complaining.

Anyway. I was torn on Harry it was a love Hate thing. I hated the costume for sure and I wasn't a huge fan of the fight scenes with him. However, his death along with the Sandman scene were probably the best parts of the movie and were handled nearly perfect.

I've been arguing this point for months. The suit wouldn't make him start suddenly acting like Wolverine or Batman. In fact, his behavior was very similar to how he was in the '90s animated series, IMO.

I loved the crane sequence :woot:
spidey's entrance music was epic
Agreed. Spidey's theme is awesome. I get chills from the violins at the beginning of his entrance to this scene; when Gwen gets knocked off the building, by the desk.
I also loved it when the theme played, when him and Harry, were trying to save Mary Jane at the end.

I think i might have to start a ignore list for negative comments. Cuz it seems they don't understand that this is a thread for the likes of spider-man 3.:whatever:

But yes the music was very good. Did you guys know that a new composer did the score. I thought some of the stuff, like new charater themes were better than elfmans score. But elfman did an amazing job, without a doubt. Without him spider-man would not have such a cool theme.

I also liked the subway scene. I thought it was cool that sandmans teeth were getting knocked out with his face getting pushed against the train.:wow: It really showed to me that spider-man was really turning heart-less. He was doing anything to stop this guy.:woot:

Please do us all a favor and start doing that.

Elfman is one of the most talented composers the industry has ever seen. Nearly everything he touches is gold.

Oh really. I never knew that. Thats cool

Yeah, Christopher Young did SM3's score. I thought it was great; it had a different feel than Elfman's, but I thought they were both good. I love all the musical motifs for all the characters.

Did anyone else notice the extreme lack of Peter Parker theme in SM3? It played a few times, but not a whole lot.

I started my ignore list yesterday.
I loved Elfman's original score but found it a little too remniscent of Batman at some points. This one was more distinctive, IMO.

He hit on Felicia right in front of Flash-whom she was dating at the time, if I remember correctly. When Thompson told him to back off, Peter got confrontational. He didn't buy a new suit b/c the symbiote made one for him. He walked around w/a superior attitude & fought more brutally against Rhino & Shocker.

While I liked some of Young's score. I always have to wonder what Elfman could have come up with. Especially for the Symbiote and Black Suit spider-man. That would have been right up his ally.

and yeah I think the way the Symbiote effected Peter was actually pretty spot on. Despite what others might think. But at the same time the editing of the Symbiote story and the flow was really clunky. And I would have liked the suit to be a bit more alive. In the 90's cartoon we got a better sense as to why he would keep such a weird unsettling thing. After all Peter isn't an idiot, he's always super skeptical. Even when he just gets tired of being pushed around and not getting what he thinks he deserves.

Glad to see im not the only one trying to keep things in focus here.lol

Do you mean the theme song that always plays during the credits?

If so i thought they used it in all the right places.IMO

Speaking of the theme music. I loved when it started to play when peter opened the case to his old costume. It really help to realize that hes becoming a hero again.

I think the music was used exceptionally well to help the story. And not just there for the sake of using music.

Yeah, Peter Parker's theme is the one that plays at the very end of the main titles in SM1 and SM2. I wish it hadn't been taken out of the main titles for SM3. The way it was played in this movie was awesome, but I wish it was played more. But with the symbiote theme kind of taking over, it was kind of understandable.

It was done completely different in TAS. Peter was suave and slick in TAS. He looked cool in a snazzy suit. Peter in SM-3 went around with emo hair, making ludicrous hand gestures at women, dry humping the air, jigging along like a fool.

His attitude in TAS was also suave and slick. The way he speaks to Felicia is not corny or stupid, like the way Peter in SM-3 talks to the chicks. The women were looking at him like he was a blinkin' moron in SM-3. Nobody saw him as that in TAS.

Again, I don't mean to bring down this thread. I'm just addressing Chris' comparison, which is not valid at all.

Oh sorry i meant during the opening credits.

I dont remember but are they the same songs or similar?

And yeah it is understandable.

TAS barely had any symbiote Peter, how could you figure all that? SM3's Peter makes more sense though, I mean why would the symbiote suddenly make him suave and slick?

If you mean, the theme at the end of the opening credits, and the theme played in that scene you mentioned, then yeah. It's probably not the exact same song, but it's the exact same leitmotif.

I figure that based on the scene where Peter goes onto his college campus in his snazzy suit, gets all seductive with Felicia, verbally pwns Flash, and creeps Felicia out in the process.

That's the way he should have behaved in the movie, IMO. We shouldn't have been laughing at his dark side. You shouldn't be laughing at anyone's dark side.

We never did in the comics, either.

SM3's Peter makes more sense though, I mean why would the symbiote suddenly make him suave and slick?

The same reason it makes him badass evil as Spidey. The dark side is exactly that. Dark. Dark Peter evoked more laughter than nerdy Peter.

That is just not right.

I think what he means is that it makes more sense for it to be more of a gradual process.Than just as soon as peter puts on the suit hes evil

It may not be as accurate to the original stories on the show. But its more life like.IMO

To be fair in the comics the Symbiote never altered his personality at all. At least not in the original telling of the story.

Somewhat ironically though, the scene right before the Symbiote attachs to himself is probably the most "dark" he actually was in the movie. With the exception of the Harry mansion fight.

But the scene with him strutting down the sidewalk. By that point he had pretty much wiped out all of his enemies. Sandman was "dead". Harry was taken care of and Eddie lost his job. He was on a high. I agree that we shouldn't laugh at his dark side neccesarily, but it did somewhat make sense to the story.

But something like the flash thompson/Felicia scene would have been nice. The MJ scene had a bit of that in the Jazz club though, it's just a shame that he didn't spiral a bit further before realizing he made a mistake.

Christopher Younges' score really was great! The Villian themes fit the Villians so perfectly if you ask me.
