And what makes you think it's a gun? Very well could be the Strap and end to Mjolnir, or a billy club, it's way to dark of a picture to tell.
Who say Don wouldn't carry a gun? Many doctors carry weapons, just because you don't see a gun doesn't mean they don't have one.
Look in the back of CW1 Director's cut, there's mention of a Col. Blake of SHIELD that walks up to Cap saying something like, "Nice seeing you again Cap." and cap doesn't recall ever meeting the man.
I'm only repeating what I've heard that's there from several people, I don't have the actual book.

Ah - didnt know about the CW1 thing. As far as the gun thing goes with Doctors though... I dont, and my father doesnt. In fact I dont know of any Doctors who do. Plus, I only thought it was a gun because of the earlier post saying you can clearly see one. I have yet to go back and examine my copy to confirm.

Well I also look at it this way, Marvel wants to update Thor/Blake so he fits in more than he has.
With House of M, and Civil War, Marvel is REALLY messed up even more than it has been, so, darn near anything is possible these days.

Col. Blake was killed when his airplane was shot down over the sea of Japan.
