I really love the Act's of Vengeance Cosmic Spidey storyline, and the indirect aftermath

I hate it when a character has two different characterizations. It reminds me of Flash's dad. In a back-up in an Amazing issue from the early 90's Flash told Peter he hated him in highschool, because Pete reminded him of his father also a puny bookworm who was cold towards Flash because he got bad grades. Then a few years later, JM DeMatteis had a completely different take on Flash's dad as an abusive, drunken cop. Totally different interpretations. JM's take was superior (and more logical... it's very rare that a bookish poindexter gives birth to a dumb jock), but that means I can't read that old back-up of Flash's fake father without rolling my eyes.

I can look past that, because he could be a bipolar, functioning drunk who can keep his crap together sometimes and even be good to Flash, but is always a powder-keg waiting to blow. That's kinda what I like about DeMatteis. He never makes someone purely scum or purely good. They always have shades of grey. Another example would be Edward's (Vermin's) abusive step-dad from 'The Child Within'.

I love the way the series title is drawn the first 133 issues and 7 annuals.
When I first saw this cover on samruby.com before reading comics like breathing air I thought those three shadowed figures knew Spider-Man's name
