Oh right so if you have anyone super-weak they should run away and hide till it's all over.

The monsters are more or less level appropriate. The only reason someone would be weak is because A.) They don't have good gear or they didn't upgrade their gear to have the best defense. B.) They really stink at playing the game, don't heal and get hit by the monster a lot. The most likely scenario is B. they just stink at the game.

I guess once you've died once you (and if you do suck at the game) you should play a bit more cautiously out of courtesy so you don't use up all the team's lives.

What's the 411?

Group of SFF writers feel that the Hugos are a "liberals only" club. They gather votes from other likeminded individuals and, as a result, sweep the Hugo nominations. This partially results from people that would normally object to this sort of SFF being too busy to cast their votes. Technically, what this group did isn't against the rules. Its really cautionary, a reminder of the importance of one's vote.

But, its their logic that baffles me. They refer to themselves as the Sad Puppies, and pine for the days when SFF was all about space battles, muscular barbarians rescuing fair maidens...the days when SFF didn't tackle more weighty issues. The thing is...pulp SFF has always been political. On some level.

Then there's a spinoff of the Sad Puppies referring to themselves as the Rabid Puppies. They've taken a more antagonist approach to this all, calling out authors they believe are corrupting the SFF genre. This group wants to see a change in the Hugo voting rules that would make nominations more exclusive...so they have a bit of a martyr thing going on.

Their logic is faulty. You have a pretty equal division, politically, among Hugo nominees and winners throughout the years. If anything, it sounds like they want the award to help sell their product.

GRRM did a lengthy response and takedown to the whole thing:

Oh Zod... I am sorry I asked. And you are right. Sounds like the usual reactionary "Everyone that claims to be a victim is just whining... BUT I AM A VICTIM so it's fine when I whine" bovine excrement that, frankly, mostly white, young, conservative/libertarian/evangelical types seem to excel at. What's funny is that I think that there have been quite a few SF stories over the years in novel form that tackle issues from a very Libertarian/Conservative point of view, or at least one more nuanced than the position that you usually read and hear about online or from talking heads on cable. Neal Stephenson has, to my mind, a VERY Libertarian slant with his material and it hasn't hurt him in the least. I recommend his books to everyone I meet and I would say I am a middle of the road, boiler plate Liberal on most (again most, not ALL ) things.

To be honest most seasoned Monster Hunters prefer that you play a little bit of the solo, offline campaign just to get a feel for the combat system of your weapon of choice and the monster attack patterns. You do get some hunters, like me, who within reason are pretty tolerant of new players. But when you constantly get hit by the monster, don't heal (Which is not a good thing unless you are using adrenaline hunting techniques, basically the lower your health the higher your attack goes up making you much more effective with the hitch that one hit could kill you so you have to be really good at dodging.), and hide on other areas away from the monster and let others do most of the work, then you'll find some none too pleased hunters online. Basically make sure you have as many healing items on you as possible. In MH4U my pouch is filled with healing items: potions, mega potions, Max Potions, Lifepowders (Which heals a fraction of health for your whole party.), Ancient potion, and Dusts of Life (Which are a beefed up version of Lifepowders.) Effort is rewarded even in failure if you've done everything you could not to die.

What's especially troubling is that there are people who oppose both of these "Puppies" that are actually leaning toward altering the qualifications for nomination. This would essentially feed the persecution complex.

I never thought something like this would happen beyond GG, honestly.

Please if you do anything today, watch this video. Watch it in it's entirety

It's things like this that make me love the internet. I want to make things like this

That reminds me of another He-Man video set to music that I can in no way even consider posting a link to on youtube. It's similar in that it takes clips from the show but the song it's put to is filthy as ****. It makes me laugh though.

I still remember from a couple years back, just looking around YouTube one night and decided to watch an old He-Man episode. Hadn't seen one in over 20 years. Anyway, at the end He-Man gives his "message" and it was about, abuse I think and he's like, "If you have a problem, tell your Priest, or Pastor or Rabbi".

1. Wow... This was obviously done BEFORE the full extent of abuse covered up by the Catholic Church was known.

2. Are... Are you trying to tell me there are Eternian Rabbi's? Mind. Blown. What's his name? TOR-AH?

Look up a few post and read the article I linked to for Duke. You will find it hilarious

God, I hate it when I get bad feelings about something bad happening. When I feel like this I usually see on the news something horrible has happened, some major catastrophe.

I skipped school and stayed hoe for Columbine, 9/11, and one or two other major tragedies that I can't think of off the top of my head right now

With all those instances did you feel some sort of anxiety or anything odd like negative premonitions of something bad that was going to happen?

*grabs chair, beer, popcorn*

I've been snacking on stuff like pecans, almonds and walnuts lately. Sort of a trail mix deal with dried cherry, honey, and cinnamon.

Am... Am I... Am I turning into a hippy?

Not that I recall. I do remember after awhile thinking it was a very weird coincidence.
