The Incredible Hulk Hype Meter - How hyped are you?

How excited are you for this movie?

  • It looks awful. I won't go anywhere near a theater playing it.

  • I'm not too hopeful. Not going to go out of my way to see it.

  • It will probably be OK. I'll get around to seeing it once the crowds die down.

  • I'm really looking forward to it. I'll be checking it out opening weekend, probably.

  • My head is about to explode!! I'll be there opening day with ticket in hand!

Isn't The Dark Knight teaser fixed with I AM LEGEND?
And isn't I AM LEGEND from WB? While TIH is Universal... the teaser will be bring by another Universal Movie. Isn't it?

It doesn't have to be attached to a Uni film. The first one wasn't originally.

Are they trying to kill the buzz for this movie already? What little articles we do get about TIH always have pics of Ang's Hulk with them. Just look at the cover of the soon to be released issue of 'The Wizard'.....i'd rather show no pic at all, than to show pics of a movie that caused ppl to turn their noses up at the franchise....

This is because there isn't any released picture of the new Hulk.
So, magazines and sites must use Ang's Hulk or fakes.

I think he realises this, he's just saying given the choice, he'd rather them use no picture at all.

Exactly. Thank you.

If they're trying to get ppl to believe in this franchise again; let them know it's is actually a reboot and not a sequel, then why keeping using pics from an original it's sopposedly distancing itself from...?

Yes, but what could they do? Leave a white square between Sisto and Jolie?

No, they could just use the silhouette NYC teaser pic instead....or not have an article about Hulk at all, until they're ready to start the hype the right way, instead of the wrong way like they did last time with the unfinished crappy CGI seen in the superbowl teaser.

I wonder if it's Universal that's handling the marketing yet again? I know Marvel's in control this time, but isn't universal their distributor yet again?

Well, unfortunately, that cover was put together by Wizard, not the Marvel studios advertising market. Marvel seems to know a little better which is probably why we haven't seen anything premature yet.

Well, they may be trying to avoid the whole controversy that Ang's film had. That film released a trailer as late as the Superbowl and Hulk was ill received....it was apparent that the animation wasn't ready yet, but they rushed it for the trailer release.....remember how everyone (like this community) slammed that?
Maybe they just want to take their time and not have a repeat of the public starting to badmouth it because they simply rushed to put out a trailer.
That's a good point. Avoiding everything the first one did isn't a bad plan. :)

I think I'm ok with no hype yet. I remember getting really tired of the endless Spidey 3 commercials and hype. By the time the movie came out I was over-saturated and didn't like the movie at all. (I don't know how much the endless ad campaign had to do with that.)

Of course Spidey 3 will probably be the highest grossing domestic movie this year...so it paid off for them.

It would have paid off whether we got 2 trailers/tv spots vs the 154,458,586,969,660,080,0708,009 that we got before the film came out.

I'm glad Hulk doesn't have any Hype yet too. Let Marvel do things right, this time.

I agree, let them hold off showing the Hulk directly, but show people there is a new Hulk movie being made.

as far as SM3 goes, Shrek and Transformers is right on it's tail as far as Domestic gross goes, but it has inspired quite a bit of ill-will in the genre market since ALOT of people we're disappointed with it, especially how bad they screwed up/rushed in the Symbiote storyline.

Transformers had great marketing. I followed the movie for years before it come out, and as some of you know, it didn't really get alot of hype until about 2 months or so before it was released. In fact before the first trailer, all we got was negative reactions to the TF's designs, that were leaked. I *****ed about not getting enough TF stuff in the way of hype, but when the movie came out i was grateful they didn't OVER HYPE it like SM3...

Paramount is releasing Hulk, not Universal. Universal released the first movie and dragged their feet on doing a sequel. The rights reverted to Marvel, who struck a deal with Paramount to release 10 movies.

Once again, TIH is a Paramount released film.

And studios attach trailers to other studio's films all the time. Advertising only your own movies limits your exposure and finances (since space in front of a huge blockbuster can be sold or used in bargaining). It's true that a WB blockbuster will have some other WB movie trailers in front of it, but there will be other studios' trailers in front of it as well.

Well if the film is actually good, then it will speak for itself and the BO will be strong for it, and DVD sales will be phenomenal.

I dont want to shut you down... but it is being released by Universal.

Universal studios Releases 2007

I personally wished Paramount is releasing it, but they have a special deal with universal as far as hulk is concerned.

No Paramount is part of Viacom. Marvel got the rights back early on The Hulk and probably had a good relationship with Universal still so let them distribute it. It's the ONLY film on the Marvel slate being distributed by Universal...though Namor might join it.

Where's the teaser? I remember when the Hulk Trailer was attached to the superbowl, the Hulk Trailer was one of the most talked about commercials during the superbowl

Unfortunately, not in a good way for the most part.
I am of the opinion that finally, this month..stuff is going to start rolling in..It's just a hunch, but we shall see.

i dont think that its to early for this movie to start with promotion at all. irom man is due a month before hulk, and it already has teaser, poster, and there was shots of the ironman suit months ago!

yeah, and after seeing all that I really want to go see Iron Man, but Hulk, like they say, "Chick's got a veil, dude better bail"

TIH people better get something good out this month, like look at the other superhero films coming out in 2008, IM had a great promo at comic-con, it has posters, a kicka** teaser trailer, lots of images, then TDK, a sneek peek teaser back in the summer, now a feature on The Today Show, the online promos, a lot of promo pics, a teaser poster and next week the teaser trailer, Hellboy 2 has promo pics and Del Toro has said we should be getting a teaser trailer this month, and what do the Hulk fans have, a poster or 2 and I shot of his head.....Not good when you are trying to get the fans and the general movie going public excited about your movie.
