The Incredible Hulk Hype Meter - How hyped are you?

How excited are you for this movie?

  • It looks awful. I won't go anywhere near a theater playing it.

  • I'm not too hopeful. Not going to go out of my way to see it.

  • It will probably be OK. I'll get around to seeing it once the crowds die down.

  • I'm really looking forward to it. I'll be checking it out opening weekend, probably.

  • My head is about to explode!! I'll be there opening day with ticket in hand!

LOL yeah the piggy bank made me roll my eyes. I was hoping for something a little more substantial...

Everytime I open my mouth about a new Hulk movie around friends and family,I get the same response..."I thought they already made one?"

NOBODY knows this is even coming out.Unless you keep up with comic book movie news or read the comics, you have no idea a new film is coming up.

Make all the excuses you want guys, the fact is the marketing for this film has been a failure. They haven't raised any awareness whatsoever.

And I seriously doubt people are going to be all excited from the release of a Hulk piggie bank.

That's exactly what I'm saying! There is no promotion of this film at all. It's crazy that they haven't released a trailer or anything. I'm thinking that they should even push the movie back a month or two becuase as you know summer time is when the biggest and best movies come out. There hasn't been so much as a freakin glimpse of how the Hulk, Leader or Abomination will look.

It's no wonder that there's no hype for this flick!!!! There's nothing out there to be found!.... I'm so ****ing sick of reading about who's in this movie and WHO DO THEY PLAY!????....uhhh, I_dont_give_a_****!

GIVE US THAT FREAKEN TRAILER DAMN IT!!!!!

Your hate is strong like mine. I like that in you.

I am lost for words about the whole situation.

I feel your pain. Ang Lee's hulk movie had a teaser a year before it came out (at least about that time)

I'm actually losing my hype for this movie. Once the trailer hits, and I'm sure it won't be a teaser especially at this time, everyone will miss the release date.

Not having any pictures of Hulk is ok being how they're still working no the CGI, but even that is losing my hype.

I think people underestimate the popularity of the Hulk. Especially with them using elements from the Tv show, which is probably the most popular iteration of the character among most general fans, this movie will fill the seats IF they get the cgi done right, and the story makes at least some sense. Besides Spidey & the X-men, Hulk is the biggest character Marvel has, they want to make sure this time that they deliver, and hopefully care is being taken to ensure that they will. Trying to compare the marketing between this and IronMan is apples and oranges, The Hulk already had a film, IM is making his debut so of course attention needs to be paid to that a little more, besides the fact that IM is just a lesser known character to begin with. One kick ass trailer, no matter when it comes out, will calm all fears, just as one lame ass trailer, no matter how early, would've sunk this film without question...

I just think that, as Hulk fans, we are a little antsy about seeing a peek of the reborn Greenskinned Goliath, and to that end, our built-in and built-up hype is starting to conflict with what we perceive as a lack of proper hyping by the filmmakers here.

Granted, we normally would see some type of collateral by now on-screen, but going back to HULK, they hyped the ***** out of it and it stumbled, badly.

Only time will tell, but I don't think that the campaign to drum up awareness for this film is beyond salvaging.

According to LL he didn't like the reptilian Abomination, so they are going with a more human, deformed look. Hulk is also supposed to be more monstrous than the first film.

Sigh...I just really hope I like what I see when they do release a trailer/pics. The thing that has me worried the most is the constant references to the TV show--I don't want a big screen adaptation of the TV show, with the comicbook Hulk.

Hey, dont get me wrong, an ultra cool trailer showing off just how badass Hulk is in this movie, along with a taste of the more real drama/intense feel they're going for with this one, and I'm right back in the hype!... But there is truely nothing going on with this flick thus far, not even a picture of the Hulk (not talking about drawn concept-art, that stuff dont impress me). I truely hope the trailer -IF IT EVER COMES OUT!- will blow every one away!

Tell me you are freakin kidding! :cmad:

But I'm not going ot complain yet cuase from what we've heard(God knows we haven't seen much) it sound good. I just want to be teased a little.

there was like little hype when they had shown the face for the first time.... then when the full pic came out i was a little excited but it all went dead... the toys and bobble head crap seriously is not helpping......at all..... they are incredibly bad IMO... but man they need a trailer or an awsome teaser poster that makes ppl extremly teased! they need to show the public this has nothing ot do wiyth ang lees one... so then there is some public hype or awareness.... lol grammer is **** today lol

From a self confessed fanboy's perspective, I think this is one of the cleverest (if unintentional) marketing campaigns in cinematic history.

The countdown ticks inexorably away providing us with nothing to muse over and speculation (good and bad) is in meltdown.

Imagination is a wonderful thing.

From the scraps we've been offered thus far, conclusion has been entertaining.

We didn't get a Superbowl teaser, instead, a 'bobble head' toy. Funny.

Marvel I salute you. I hope you deliver the goods though 'cause everything I've written can be discarded as a 'moot point' otherwise! Especially the 'fanboy' bit which is quite frankly hanging in the balance thanks to the shoddy conclusion to WWH! :yay:

LOL i was gonna write the exact same thing

This movie haven´t had any marketing at all

Yeah, I'm kidding with a hint of seriousness.

The 'non' marketing attached to this film opens up speculation but patience runs out rapidly when your are as eager as we all are.

I suppose sarcasm is not only the lowest form of wit but also the most difficult to convey on a message board (without emoticons and with a PS3 controller as a keyboard)

I spoke with an exec at Marvel about the marketing or lack thereof and he stated: All in good time. I'd rather have the marketing exactly right, than right away! Don't worry, we will be all over the world soon enough, and you'll be a happy camper. I promise! That being said, I am speculating that although all the rags (Magazines) talking about all these summer movies coming out not mentioning the Hulk is because the marketing hasn't started, so they don't have anything to go on. I realize people are antsy to say the least, but it is what it is. I have a strong feeling we are going to be wowed when they start and then all those magazines will want to put the Hulk stuff all over the front pages of their rags. All I have read from all the threads are when , when and when are they going to start? Iron Man has the stage now on purpose. Marvel is marketing that first. They will market the Hulk after on a world wide scale I was told. So, I am a happy camper after speaking to Marvel right now. For all those who continue to whine and cry, I hear Kleenex is running a two for one sale.

As many have expected the Incredible Hulk to make his appearance already, it is with great pleasure I lay out what is actually now the reason for its delay. There is no delay. Iron Man as we know it is being marketed first as Marvels first movie of the year. That is it, plain and simple. It's marketing campaign is heavy with pics, trailers and TV spots. Marvel is simply choosing to market the "Marvel made movies" one at a time. The distributors have no control over this and while we have become impatient, it's because we didn't know what was going on. On three separate occasions I have communicated with the higher ups involved with the productions and have been told: This Hulk film is going to be Fantastic! Marvel films brought in top actors, top stuntmen, CGI masters and put together a great script. It will definetly be exciting! The trailers and Marketing wil be out all in good time. I'd rather have the marketing exactly right, than right away! Don't worry, we will be all over the world soon enough, and you'll be a happy camper. I promise! So that being said there is no real room for speculation about the movie being in trouble or being bad for that matter. I won't put down all conversations I've had because some are private and involve spoilers. I don't want to ruin this movie at all for anyone. I hope this helps you understand what's going on behind the scenes. Feel free to add anything.

If what you say is true, then I won't defend them any further.

It's fine in my opinion to wait longer than most on this board think to put up a trailer. I wouldn't even care if it didn't come out until the month before.

But if their excuse is simply because they want to market "one film at a time" then shame on them.

Apparently I should check back in May for a trailer.

That would actually be great.... if not for the fact that TIH only comes out ONE month after Iron Man. If there were, say, a 3 month delay, that would be an excellent strategy, but they're waiting until the last minute to advertise a $150,000,000 movie? That's just crazy.

SPOILER WARNING!!!!!!! THIS IS A JOKE.

BAH!!!! Iron Man is puny man in metal suit. Hulk is better than puny Iron Man! Hulk SMASH puny Iron Man at box office and then we see who gets marketed first. BAH!

End of joke

Would it help if the marketing started this month?

Why is it an excuse? Do you have any idea what the cost is of marketing? Especially when you are flipping the bill? How can you say it's fine one minute and then say shame on them for marketing one at a time? Lastly, when did they require a defense for their movie?
