But have you ever seen a really good cheap looking costume on the big screen? I need to see what one would look like.

I haven't, but mostly because no one has really tried as of yet. In every superhero movie, they try to make the costume as aesthetically appealing and "cool looking" as possible, even in the character would benefit from a more homemade look.

The only times I've seen really good homemade costume designs were in comedies or comedic scenes. Like in James Gunn's "Super," the costumes looking a little cheap is supposed to be funny. I haven't seen a costume that isn't supposed to look crap for a laugh, simply that it's supposed to look like it was made at home on a budget with practical considerations in mind. Hasn't happened yet. But I'd like it to.

Won't happen. This is fantasy.

1: I'm not sure that matters. I was just stating what I would like to see happen. Is that against the rules?

2: Would you care to elaborate on that, please?

I want homemade not cheap. Batman Begins first costume or Raimi Spider-Man first costume. Thats what id like for a first costume lasting most of the season, Then something more akin to what we're used to in the comics by season s end.

You mean this one?

Have you read the Man Without Fear prequel comic by Miller? He has a black get-up at first which I think looks pretty cool and would like to see maybe once or twice.

Why do you want it to change eventually?

I would rather DD doesn't wear black, as it would be reminiscent of his costume from Trial of the Incredible Hulk. Also, if they can produce a black costume, then why not give it to Bullseye?

I definitely don't want the Gladiator to be reformed. I want to see Gladiator as a full-on villain for the first season or two, so that we see his journey, and so that we also see him as a real threat for DD. You can't really appreciate him being reformed if you haven't seen him as a villain first.

He's one of Daredevil's first successful villains (to be honest, he may be the first). So he absolutely needs to fight Daredevil. But, to me, it's his redemption story combined with Matt Murdock defending him is a nice success story and helps Matt stand out from someone like Frank Castle. It's a good role for Matt the lawyer.

Yes, he can use his radar sense, but does he see colours, and how well can he execute designs?

I hope to hell he doesn't see color, but there is precedent for it. There is this little moment.

You can go to the store and buy red fabric. It's reasonable to assume someone helping a blind person will sell the correct color. I don't find it implausible.

Im thinking something like this is the perfect mix of comic and reality. Just make a DD version of this style.

Holy Christ God no.

Well, it's not really a suit. It's just something he throws on when he first decides to be a hero. He should of course upgrade to either his red or yellow suit quickly after that.

.

Maybe the store assistant will sell him pink fabric as a joke. :hehe:

And then he, a practicing lawyer, would call up his old law school buddies who now work at the ACLU and sue that store into oblivion for discriminatory business practices.

Because I still want a little fantastical in the show. I want this universe to be seamless with the MCU and want him to look more substantial than just a realistic or grounded vigilante. He doesnt have to look like he's backed by SHIELD or that hes wealthy enough to afford a state of the art costume but i do want something a little more polished. No cumbersome armour but a red suit that looks flexible enough for a gymnast to do crazy moves and imprint an image of fear in the minds of the criminal underground.

I'd prefer the show be more creative than that. I'm not suggested that he not look like Daredevil, I'm just suggesting that he wear a Daredevil costume that looks like something a guy could have made by himself with a small budget and limited resources, incorporating boxing and gymnastics gear, because I think that more effectively embodies the character and could result in a unique redesign of a classic costume.

Daredevil shouldn't look polished, because polish is counterintuitive to the character. Daredevil is about the unpolished standing up to the polished and saying that being unpolished is okay.

Polished to me means like someone that has an idea of what they're doing when making a vigilantes costume, a mix of functionality and theatricality. This wouldnt be his doing but someone that knows what he's up to and cares about what he's doing. Matt wouldnt be aware of the details.

I don't disagree, but I think what "looks" like something somebody could make and what is are different things and we only need the former. So a little bit of professional polish (when not overdone) isn't all that bad.

I'm not just saying they slap something together. It would take very deliberate costuming choices, which is what I'm asking for. I don't think there needs to be professional polish in the materials used, just in the design. It should look like the platonic ideal of a working class guy slapping together old boxing and gymnastics gear into a demon costume to fight crime in.

I'd like this to be hist first home-made effort

I'd actually like a play on his yellow/dark red for his first costume maybe portrayed in flashbacks. But ultimately id like to see his traditional all red.

What would be the explanation for why he initially went for yellow and red?

Why explain it, just say he got old gym clothes/training equipment. I'd just like to see it as his very early attire, just something simple to hide his identity. As far as his real suit goes I'm thinking Rosario's character may know his identity, she could be an ally who may update his threads.

I think Frank Miller suggested his dad wore something like that as part of some boxing gimmick, iirc (which I might not be). It would work as a temporary costume before he got something more permanent. The costume craigaat suggested could work quite well for that (although, for a homemade effort, I'd drop any D's).

it was all he had lying around, then he got something made in just red i guess

Yep, he wore a red outfit, complete with the horns and a D on the chest.
