Homecoming The Inevitable Video Game Thread

...One swing arc and it's already the same as Beenox's.

Okay.

I will say though, based on the link--the draw distance is already incredible. You can see cars all the way to the furthest building in the shot. None of them pop-in either. Very good sign.
It's definitely impressive, but I'll keep my expectations in check with details like that. I'm too used to games continually downgrading from their E3 presentations.

The only time I ever really feel like that happens is with Ubisoft games, typically. But yeah--you're right. It's good to have checks on ALL your expectations at this point. Especially since we still have at least a year left.

I love how this is basically doing an Arkham and not following either the films or the comics, and I really love the white Spider logo, unlike many. It makes the spider stand out. And like many games, it's obvious they'll have several versions of the costume, so everyone should just chill, easily my most anticipated game right now, and I couldn't be a more happier PS4 owner. :woot:

I'm not sure if anyone's pointed this out before but the web-swinging from the trailer looks too much like Beenox's TASM2 system:

(Gfycat link so you can slow down the gif and see it in better quality)

I hope they're just using Beenox's system in the meantime for the sake of showing off just some web-swinging for the E3 trailer, and that they're still working on a great web-swinging system in the meantime.

The engine is all Insomniac's,they're not using beenox engine. It's obvious there will be some similarities being a Spider-Man game, honestly that 1 second of footage looks 1000 Times better than ASM2.

Some of you legitimately think that Insomniac would re-use Beenox animations and systems? Come on. Just because an animation looks similar doesn't mean it's a copy of another system. Spider-Man moves like Spider-Man.

 Agreed.

Well there have been so many Spiderman games with so many different webswinging mechanics. No wonder they all look similar.

How long is there left untill we get an official Subforum for Spider-Man PS4? It is Marvel Games' Spider-Man Video Game Series competitor to Batman Arkham after all.

We don't have a sub-forum for Arkham games in the Batman sub-forum.
We won't have any for this game series.

Anyway, did you guys know that Spidey's VA voiced some of the crazies from the mental asylum in the Amazing Spider-Man? I forgot its name, but it's stage 3.

ONe thing I'm really hoping for is a lot of options in combat. One of the things that can kill a Spidey game for me is if his combat options boil down to a few punches and kicks and WEBWEBWEB. I saw that we can web and sling objects in the background, so I hope there's more of that.

How expansive do you think combat animation should be?

Shouldn't we have one for both series? Its going to become important as DC and Marvel ramp up their AAA Video game productions.

I agree the Beenox swinging sucked. But I'm not opposed to a somewhat more realistic physics based swinging engine.

We should.
There is no need for that, they don't really spawn as heavy a discussion as you might want to believe.
We have the video game sections, and the character world sections.

In Amazing Spider-Man 1 it certainly does suck.

Yeah, but imagine how much ordinary people play the Batman Arkham games. Very telling in deed.

I really hope the Green Goblin is the main villain in this game, mostly because he has been ridiculously underexposed in Spider-Man games.

Wasn't he just the villain in the TASM2 game?

Agreed! There has been surprisingly little of him in major Spider-Man games. Hopefully we get to see him in this game.

If you can call that thing the Green Goblin.

Any thoughts on a name for the Marvel Games Spider-Man Video game series that Spider-Man PS4 is Beginning? Mine would be Spider-Man Transcendent or The Transcendent Spider-Man!

Im cool with just spider-man or something with a subtitle.

One thing I say is refreshing about TASM2 game is the story is simpler, not a world threatening kind of evil based mostly or solely in New York, and it's not a globe trotting or dimension hopping Spider-Man in a story involving time travel. After 5 games in a row with getting Spider-Man out of his usual adventures mold TASM2 was a long awaited story.

This game appears to be on the right track of placing Spider-Man in the middle of a gang war and not some Avengers level adventure.

Yeah, the only game actually using him and doing him justice is the first Raimi film adaption.
The only other game using Green Goblin as a villain is the Atari 2600 one.

Harry? His appearance as a villain in TASM2 game is worse than his movie role.
And what PeterBenParker said about the villain, I think he should've included Kingpin as well.

If it involves gang war in the title I'm good.
I wonder if they'd go with the route Spectacular Spider-Man crew went with in titles, and choose something psychological instead of using another basic title.

I think it's reasonable to expect Goblin as a major villain,Insomniac said the hints in the trailer lead to the story's content,so the 'Osborn for major' Billboard is pretty telling.

set pics or video game pics? or set pics of the video games? i'm confused lol.
