The inTOXICATED DC Boards Lounge - Part 2

So, it's like live TV, though, right? Like with regular commercials and stuff?

Yup. Commercials and everything. Theres talk that theyll eventually offer extra packages with different channel selections but theres no word on a time frame yet.

So I just read that HBO Go standalone is apparently launching next month. Anyone who doesn't already have HBO thinking of getting into it? If it's $10 a month, I definitely will. If $15...maybe.

My friend works for HBO, so I've been getting free HBO GO for about 4 years now.

So I downloaded Hulu plus for the free 2 month trial, then I try to watch The Flash, and it starts on the 10th episode.

Do they have the option to start from the beginning?

No, with most newer shows Hulu will have the latest five episodes of a show and no more. Some shows are the exception were that have all recent episodes (Modern Family & Family Guy are two that I can think of). It's how they have their licensing deals set up to be able to show new episodes from networks unfortunately.

:csad: well I guess it'll have to wait until Netflix updates.

There may be an CW app? Check one of your devices.

There is, but I think it's like Hulu in that only saves a certain amount of episodes at a time.

Yeah Hulu is pretty ****in awful. I remember back then you were able to block those ads and it was streaming without any buffer.

I hope HBO Go isn't $15 a month, that's a bit much for just one channel.

I've read that's roughly comparable to what you have to pay to get it through cable (don't know, never had it that way), so I figure they'll keep it about the same as that. I wonder if the standalone service will have the movies in rotation, too.

I think we talked about the PSN-exclusive Powers show on here once. Gave my thoughts about it in another thread, I'll just repost them here:

I watched the pilot via YouTube since I don't have Plus. It was solid, a good start. I'm a fan of the comics, so my biggest issues came with not caring much with how they changed some characters (especially the two lead characters who are very different from their original counterparts). But I'm not dogmatic about adaptations, so I'm open to that. I will say the effects look pretty awful. I mean, it's a TV budget, and I'm guessing a fairly low one considering the very limited avenue, but I was a bit surprised by how bad some stuff looked. I was thinking of getting a month or two of Plus, but I think I'll just wait for the Blu-ray release and get it then.

So yeah, the pilot was decent. Anyone here have Plus and watched the rest the other two or three episodes they released at the same time?

EDIT: Oh yeah, if you didn't hear, HBO Go standalone (being called HBO Now) will, in fact, be $15 a month. It's launched next month exclusively on Apple devices for three months, and will then roll out on everything else. Maybe you can watch it on your $10,000 Apple Watch.

I really just don't get what the point of having a smart watch really is. The only thing I could think to use it for is exercise, but there's plenty of cheaper alternatives out there.

I don't think it looks horrible, but I think it's overpriced.

Yeah, the cheapest model is like $400 or something. I just don't get the point of it really, like I don't see the selling point of it. It seems it's like a stripped down smartphone that has to rely on said smartphone just to function.

Well, there are regular watches that cost 20 grand, so, people will spend whatever to look cool.

If you're gonna make a watch that does more than be a watch, that s*** better look straight out of Dick Tracy or I'm not interested. :o

Does anyone here watch American Dad? I finally caught up with on Netflix, was curious how it's been since moving to TBS. I know one of the showrunners left not long after that, so I was wondering if the quality of it went down.

Anybody see that last episode of Flash?

Wow. Wow I say. :awesome:
