iron man 3 - $195.3m: Uk - $21.5m, korea - $19.2m, oz - $18.4m, mex - $16.1m, fra - $14.7m, bra - $12.3m

So the question is now, how much does this slaughter $1 B by? $100 M? $200 M? $300 M?

I'm going to be conserative and say it makes about 1.07 bill. I'm assuming it wont have legs as strong as avengers because of the stiff competition in coming weeks but it should be enough to overtake POTC on the all time list. I'm hoping for 1.1 billion though

I want this to hit 1B so much, Shane Black deserves to have that under his belt.

Hahahahaah oh man.
Marvel is KILLING it folks. No one can stop em.

Does anyone really think that IM4 with RDJ isn't going to happen now? I know anything is possible, but this is a big deal.

Those are huge numbers, it did even better in SK than originally reported, and I didn't expect it to open so close to Avengers given how undermarketed it was over there. All of these numbers are about as far on the high end of estimates as you could get. Huge, really huge. $600m is an absolute lock now, and with legs it will get $700m.

$1.1b is looking very likely now, with an outside shot at $1.2b. Crazy Marvel has 2 billion dollar franchises under their belts, and having released a billion dollar film two years in a row.

That is the genius. They don't. They have made this all one big ole "Avengers" franchise. And that franchise has just killed it two summers in a row.

The CEO of IMAX said that they're well pleased with IM3 because it's breaking records everywhere, which they needed after the poor box office start this year.

The $195 million OW is incredible, especially when you consider that the film hasn't even opened in Russia, Germany and China yet. When IM3 opens in those countries next weekend the numbers should be phenomenal. Combined with the domestic OW, boom times are coming for Marvel's Golden Avenger.

Anyone else wonder if Marvel releasing it in this manner wasn't the best idea in terms of domestic take? Why couldn't they do like Fox did with X2 and release it the same day worldwide?

I visit general movie sites (RT, IMDB, etc) and all this early international release did was give the haters and trolls a leg up to try and control word of mouth. Look at IMDB for example. For whatever reason, haters that want Iron Man and Marvel to fail are over there leaving the worst reviews and starting the most spoiler filled negative threads possible. They have voted up the bad reviews left by members in huge numbers. Since no one in America has seen it, real fans and some general movie fans are avoiding those sites. No one is there to counter and, at general glance, it appears everyone hates the film. Will general audience members on the fence be swayed by such things?

This can't be good for word of mouth even though it's a false negative. IM3 may be above it because of the love for past movies but considering the spoilerish nature of the film, did Marvel get too cocky and make a huge error waiting to release it in the states???

Didn't seem to effect the Avengers.

Truth is, they are far more worried about international piracy then anything else.

No it helps hype the domestic debut. It helps, it dosen't hurt. Internet *****ting is, as always, just internet *****ting.

With Raimi's series you're right but if IM3 gets $1.2B then the three Iron Man films will have made the same $ as Nolan's 3 Batman films. And that is a possible gross for IM3(not sure about the odds of it happening but it's definitely not outlandish).

On another note, what do you all think of the possibility of IM3+ThorTDW = $2B this year WW? Maybe $1.2B for IM3 and $800M for Thor2? It could happen.

It looks like I underestimated IM3's potential by at least 250 m, so now I'm questioning my Dark World prediction. At this point it wouldn't surprise me.

Damn, if this is what it's like NOW, Disney is SO going to SLAUGHTER 2015.

Forget about 2015, how about the next decade plus rolling out Marvel and Star Wars films.

This almost feels like the craziness that was last year. When this **** hits next week, this place will EXPLODE.

I think the success of IM will definitely help THOR as people will need their Avengers 'fix' after IM3.

Disney is a monster with Marvel Studios.

Plus they have Star Wars and Pixar. lmao.
