Do we have any hard confirmation that Extremis is part of the movie, or is that just rampant speculation?

My question now about AIM is: will they be tied to HYDRA in some way?

It appears A.I.M will be in IM3

Now this is the spoilerish type of image I was talking about. :woot:

So elements we know are in this movie:
1. Mandarin
2. AIM
3. Extremis/Aldrich Killian
4. Iron Patriot armor
5. China setting/characters

This movie is so packed that it'll be interesting to see how Black weaves them together.

Also, a Christmas tree was brought on the same set, hinting that it may take place during the Holidays...like 4 of Shane Black's other films.

A.I.M.! Now we're talking! I speculated that Loki's scientists and techs were A.I.M. because the mad scientists' society were the ones who created Earth's Cosmic Cube/Tesseract in the comic books. Another factor was that Loki's allies were a racially and ethnically-diverse group, which all but ruled out Nazi-lite HYDRA as the organization behind them.

With A.I.M. in IM3, can M.O.D.O.K. be far behind? The writers of Captain America 2 said they were lobbying for the mega-cranium bearing villain to appear in that movie, but Feige seemed skeptical. (Yet he's all for Rocket Raccoon in GOTG. Go figure.)

AIM is great news. I don't know how well they could do MODOK though without it looking REALLY weird and out of place. Even Thanos is humanoid, not a big ol' head with legs! haha

I have a feeling if modok happens it will be a zola hybrid .. They're pretty similar

Could just be a copy. Though the first two films don't do much to give the impression, Tony could have built spares. Either in case one gets broken or he could have others in various stages of completion as he experiments on new configurations.

their designs are on file he can just get JARVIS to fabricate another of all but the first.

This makes me happy. And there NEEDS to be a scene of AIM scientists in the yellow suits. They don't have to wear them all the time, just show one or two scenes where their scientists wear them while doing their evil science thing.

Absolutely. There's no excuse to not have at least one scene with them in yellow radiation suits. All I need is one scene.

I ran across this on Tumblr. In the comics Tony is quite sentimental about his armors.

List of A.I.M achievements in the comics:

-Connections to HYDRA
-Revived Red Skull
-created cosmic cube
-Super Adaptoid, an android capable of duplicating any super power.
-M.O.D.O.K

Any more?

This movie is so packed that it'll be interesting to see how Black weaves them together.

And here Black was saying that he wanted a more realistic Iron Man 3 that played out like a Tom Clancy thriller. This is looking to be the most fantastical and potentially outlandish IM adventure yet. Maybe he's been influenced by the success of the Avengers and has fully embraced the comic book roots?

And do we know that Ben Kingsley is actually the Mandarin or could he be the Supreme Scientist for AIM? Unless Killian is now.

But for the Supreme Scientist's brother, they should get David Caruso. Yes, he's somewhat wooden and spends his time posturing and taking off his sunglasses, but he does look like the character somewhat. He's the one with the red hair around Iron Man #203-208 who tries to overthrow the Supreme Scientist and part of the time is locked up in an AIM holding cell. I forget his name now, but if I find out later I'll post it and an image.

EDIT: His name is Yorgon Tykkio, brother of Scientist Supreme Valdemar Tykkio.

Hot damn. AIM exists!

And it looks like they're going the route I always wanted them to take --- making AIM a software/tech firm that's a front for bad guys, instead of some goofy mad scientists' club. Advanced Idea Mechanics is a great name for a tech company.

I'll be willing to bet that AIM is going to be Killian's firm in the movie.

You Probably Right!!! and Maybe A.I.M. will be a Thread into Captain America 2??

Seems like they're using Epic Games HQ for AIM's HQ. That's kinda cool and I can't help but wonder what it will be like for the workers there seeing IM3 in the cinema and seeing some of their offices (if they use the insides of the building).

So by bringing in AIM, this could be Marvel's way of introducing many other characters from the Marvel Universe for Phase 2. AIM were responsible for turning Betty into the Harpy, and also partly behind Red Hulk. They might also be responsible for bringing back the Red Skull. They have ties into storylines affecting Iron Man, Hulk and Captain America, three of the Avengers already in live action.

I wonder if any HYDRA agents will be part of AIM?
