The Jared Leto is The Joker(?) Thread

He spends the movie in a pit of depression looking for his missing gf, he wears a tattoo on his forehead, which according to the director is a message telling everyone his body is damaged, and I don't know what rock you're living under where you don't know tattoos are often associated with emos.

I live under the rock where people from literally all walks of life have tattoos. I've seen more housewives with tattoos than emo's.

Joker mind screwing with his would be victims about his physical deformity is not emo. Whining about the black hole of depression some girl he liked sent him into, that's emo.

Screwing with his victim is exactly what he's doing here. He's turning the tables on Harleen by making her feel guilty about what she did, when all she tried to do was help. It crushes her spirit because the things she thought were right were wrong. Also, since when is it emo to complain about something? Someone physically and mentally tries to break you, but if you say a word about it you're emo?

Quote the words where I said tattoos are solely associated with emo look.

No, he's not. He's telling her why he's going to hurt her, because she hurt him. Pain for pain. Whereas Ledger's Joker is simply terrorizing his victims for kicks with two different disturbing stories which he used like a showman to lead up to murder them (in Gambol's case. Rachel's was interrupted).

What I'm saying is that tattoos are no more associated with emo's than with bikers, people who have lost a loved one, people who simply like the art of it, girls who got one in a drunken haze on spring break.

Drawing out inevitable pain is most definitely screwing with someone. With every transgression against him, her expectations of what is going to happen raise.

Right. Just like dressing in black is often associated with Goth or emo look but we don't call everyone who wears black Goth. Hence why I never said tattoos are solely associated with emos.

Drawing out inevitable pain is most definitely screwing with someone. With every transgression against him, her expectations of what is going to happen raise.

He wasn't drawing it out. She asked him why he was doing this because she only tried to help him. He told her why.

I have multiple tattoos so that's probably one of the dumbest things you've ever posted. One of.

Sad thing is he actually believes he's making sense. So now everyone is tattoos is emo? Puuuhhhhlllleeeeassse.

And the Joker was nowhere near depressed in this movie. A depressed person doesn't laugh their ass off maniacally 90% of the time.

It's okay not to like something but Jesus, some of you are just going out of your way to nitpick literally nothing. It's actually pretty sad.

Agreed. I don't want tattoo emo Joker in jewellery any more.

You truly are incapable of making any new statements, aren't you? Everything you post is literally the same rhetoric over and over. We get it, you don't like Leto's Joker. So why are you still here saying that same thing in every single post? Hmm?

And don't give me that "I have my opinion, you have yours" crap. There are a ton of things discussed on this forum that I don't care for. And I'm not there every day to make sure you know how much I hate it. That's lame as hell.

Says the person who thinks the haters of Letoker wanted him to suck :funny:

Reading comprehension fail. Quote the words where I said any such thing.

More hilarious irony. You spend pages whining about people's complaints being invalid to you, and most redundant of all; complaining about the complaining. If it bothers you so much either put the critics on ignore, act your age and accept it, or sod off out of the thread.

Because the Letoker complaints aren't going away.

What's lame as hell is wasting endless posts whining about opinions you don't like. At least you can say repetitive complaints are on topic and relevant. But you don't complain about reptitive praises because you're reading what you want to see.

Ok gents, settle this down, no need to make it personal, and make sure to read each others posts fully before going off on a response.

Some of them obviously do. All? No, of course not. But a selective lot obviously do. Otherwise they wouldn't dedicate so much time to his thread.

It's temperamental.

Reading comprehension fail. Quote the words where I said any such thing.

Don't have to. The implication is loud and clear.

This proves nothing at all.

I'm not whining at all nor do I consider anyone's opinions invalid. I just find it overly redundant and unnecessary to keep saying the same thing over and over. "His tattoos and grillz suck!" "I don't like how Leto's Joker hangs out in nightclubs or tries to get Harley away from Waller and the Squad." "He's not my Joker because his design is so different!"

That's whining, my friend.

It's fine that people dislike Leto's Joker, I will not lose any sleep over that. But it's beating a dead horse to reiterate the same points in every single post.

Again, there's no whining going on. Not from me, anyway. Again, I couldn't care less that Leto's Joker isn't being universally praised. It doesn't affect me at all. But I'm fully allowed to point out just how useless to go over the same narratives again and again.

Sharing opinions is fine, otherwise none of us would be here. But it's beyond useless to keep going on & on about how you "hate" something after you've already made said point clear.

Thank you

Some of them obviously do. All? No, of course not. But a selective lot obviously do. Otherwise they wouldn't dedicate so much time to his thread.

This thread is about a character we've already seen and formed an opinion of. You act as though people are saying the character sucks without even having seen him.

Stop presuming you know what people think and are saying better than they do. It's the height of ignorance.

Don't have to. The implication is loud and clear.

Of course, once again you what people are saying better than they do themselves.

This proves nothing at all.

You falsely claimed someone who is despressed would not be laughing a lot. It is a proven fact depressed people often hide behind laughter. That link even gave you some real life examples.

If you have something that proves otherwise, then post it rather than just blindly dismissing it.

No, that's criticism. Valid criticism that every member here has the right to express as often as they like without being chastised for it by people like you. Complaining about the complaining/criticism, that's whining.

It's fine that people dislike Leto's Joker, I will not lose any sleep over that. But it's beating a dead horse to reiterate the same points in every single post.

Then ignore them. Or avoid the thread. Or accept it. Don't chastise people for saying things they have every right to say as much as they like.

Again, there's no whining going on. Not from me, anyway. Again, I couldn't care less that Leto's Joker isn't being universally praised. It doesn't affect me at all. But I'm fully allowed to point out just how useless to go over the same narratives again and again.

No, you're not. Not if it means chastising people constantly for expressing their own opinions. They're not harming anyone. They're not breaking any rules. People should be able to make their posts without getting ripped by you with ignorant bile like "don't give me that 'I have my opinion, you have yours' crap". Who do you think you are to tell people what they can say?

Sharing opinions is fine, otherwise none of us would be here. But it's beyond useless to keep going on & on about how you "hate" something after you've already made said point clear.

So by your logic you will never praise Letoker again since you've done so a plethora of times already?

You are aware the post from Hunter applies equally to you since you took it personal enough to start insulting, right?

I'm not acting as anything nor am I "presuming to know what people think." I'm not assuming what's on your mind. I'm going by what you post. Misinterpretation is bred of the same ignorance as speaking for another.

Very ironic of you.

Of course, once again you what people are saying better than they do themselves.

Not at all. I go by only what's posted. I'm not a telepath, so I do not presume to know what is going on inside your brain. None of my posts have ever made such implications. This is what we call "going completely left-field."

You falsely claimed someone who is despressed would not be laughing a lot. It is a proven fact depressed people often hide behind laughter. That link even gave you some real life examples.

If you have something that proves otherwise, then post it rather than just blindly dismissing it.

Friend, I've lived through depression. Not all depressed people hide behind laughter. I certainly didn't & millions of others haven't either. Does that mean others don't use laughter to hide? Of course not. But now you're the one presuming they all do.

This Joker is not depressed and him going after Harley certain does not prove that he is. If you're going to say this Joker is depressed, then every version of the character might as well be seen that way.

No, that's criticism. Valid criticism that every member here as the right to express as often as they like without being chastised for it by people like you. Complaining about the complaining/criticism, that's whining.

Oh please, you're doing the exact same thing you claim that I'm doing and I've seen you doing it in plenty of other threads with other members. I find it amusing all of the rhetoric you're spouting is the same rhetoric you're annoying when it comes to you yourself. You're trying to play the "holier than thou" role & act like you're speaking up for other members when you're just trying to defend your incessant complaining over trivial things you've already stated a million times.

By your own admission you could ignore me, or leave the thread. But here you are giving so much energy to this "discussion."

So by your logic you will never praise Letoker again since you've done so a plethora of times already?

I'm not endlessly praising Leto's Joker in the same way you and others are endlessly bashing him. So there's no correlation here.

You are aware the post from Hunter applies equally to you since you took it personal enough to start insulting, right?

I haven't insulted anyone. Hunter is here because I am the one who got him to come here in the first place to stop the snide remarks and insults made by you and others. Do you honestly think I'd invite an administrator here if I was the one who instigated the trouble.

I'm not acting as anything nor am I "presuming to know what people think." I'm not assuming what's on your mind. I'm going by what you post. Misinterpretation is bred of the same ignorance as speaking for another.

If that were true you'd be able to quote the words where I said, according to you that is, that everyone with tattoos is emo.

Not at all. I go by only what's posted. I'm not a telepath, so I do not presume to know what is going on inside your brain. None of my posts have ever made such implications. This is what we call "going completely left-field."

Then what do you call making ludicrous claims that some haters wanted Letoker to suck no matter what, or that I was saying anyone with tattoos is emo? There's not a single post here that says any such thing. You are putting words in people's mouths with no basis for it.

It's like saying you or any other fan of Letoker were going to like him no matter what they did with him.

Friend, I've lived through depression. Not all depressed people hide behind laughter. I certainly didn't & millions of others haven't either. Does that mean others don't use laughter to hide? Of course not. But now you're the one presuming they all do.

Right, but you're totally ignoring the fact that a lot of people suffering with depression do hide behind laughter by claiming anyone who laughs a lot is not depressed. That is just not true. I don't mean that in an opinionated way. It's a fact. Just because someone has a jolly disposition doesn't mean they are not hiding depression.

Your problem is you keep judging everyone by what you do. You handled depression in one way, that doesn't mean everyone else suffering from it handles it like you did. You don't regularly criticize a bad interpretation of a character you love, that doesn't mean everyone else doesn't. Stop acting like anyone who doesn't follow your example is invalid or wrong.

This Joker is not depressed and him going after Harley certain does not prove that he is. If you're going to say this Joker is depressed, then every version of the character might as well be seen that way.

How many versions of the Joker do you know of spent a whole story tracking down his gf because he misses her? Who sports labels on his head saying his body is damaged etc? People are not pulling this belief out of thin air.

FYI; I am not saying he was depressed, but to claim he wasn't just because he laughed a lot is a false basis to refute depression.

And you're complaining about me complaining about others complaining. What's that? Whining.

No, I'm calling you out on taking digs at us for expressing our own opinions.

How would you like it if any time you or anyone else praised Letoker someone had a go at you for posting redundant reptitive posts you've said before?

Oh please, you're doing the exact same thing you claim that I'm doing and I've seen you doing it in plenty of other threads with other members. I find it amusing all of the rhetoric you're spouting is the same rhetoric you're annoying when it comes to you yourself. You're trying to play the "holier than thou" role & act like you're speaking up for other members when you're just trying to defend your incessant complaining over trivial things you've already stated a million times.

You can't even compare. I am defending myself and other members' right to express our opinions as frequently as we like without having people like you jump on them for it, and tell them not to give you "crap" about expressing their own opinion.

You think people like getting sniped at like that for no good reason?

By your own admission you could ignore me, or leave the thread. But here you are giving so much energy to this "discussion."

I don't ignore posts that are attacks towards me. Nor should I. That's personal. You on the other hand simply have to ignore posts you don't like about a fictional character. Nothing personal to you.

I'm not endlessly praising Leto's Joker in the same way you and others are endlessly bashing him. So there's no correlation here.

That's not the point. The point is you have praised him many times before. You have expressed that opinion ad nauseum. So by your logic you shouldn't do it again since you've already beaten that dead horse.

If it was someone consistently praising him you wouldn't have said anything because you're reading something you agree with. Which is what this boils down to. Nobody minds reading things they agree with.

Mhm. That's nice. I didn't even bother reading, mind you. I'm just going to end this by saying "clap clap" for you and move on.

Now, anyway, I hope that this doesn't end up being a case where some of the snippets we've gotten in the teasers for the DVD/Blu-Ray still don't end up actually being a part of the extended cut.

I'm also really hoping that the ending sequence with Joker showing up as the Squad battles Enchantress is added back in. Given, it'd take a bit of restructuring to the overall product, but I'd say it'd definitely be worth it to give us a full look at the portrayal and to be able to form more solid narratives on it.

I'm still of the mindset they should've just done a "Joker cut" type of deal.

Lets be more mature, and just put this behind us and start with a clean slate.

Sound good?

More than fair enough, I think that's the best way to move forward. All water under the bridge now, my friend.

We're all here to have fun, no sense in being at each others throats. :)

Damn I missed a lot!

But I still don't see "emo" in this joker. I see a guy who dresses like a clown in the era of "chi-raq" and ppl like 21 Savage and young thug wearing outlandish outfits , have tattoos from head to toe.

TBH wearing boxing shorts and tons of "jurrry" makes sense for a guy nicknamed the clown prince of crime.

Oh God...please don't compare him to that disaster trainwreck known as "young thug." Almost made me vom, dude. lol

A Lil Wayne comparison might be a little more fitting. :D

I mean I agree with the Wayne comparison... but thugga thugga makes hits man you can't deny that. He's a big star in hip hop for the past 3 years

I refuse to acknowledge the existence of that individual so...yeah.

People still discussing Leto's Joker? That complete failure? Only DC can destroy some of the best villains ever written like it's nothing.

Well, we have to , because it doesn't look like he's leaving any time soon.....
