Ok, so we know the Joker will have some sort off back story, wether we'll see it in flash back or just refered to, What should it be? what should the Jokers origins be?

Please no 'I dont want the joker to have a backstory'.

I don't want the joker to have a backstory

I honestly do like the Joker better when he's an enigma. But there are plenty of backstories they could give him which would work.

One thing is for sure: If they do give him a back story it needs to be accompanied by the "Multiple choice" line.

Yes please.

That or the TAS style he tells different people different things.

At some point they'll have to make something about it, whether they give lots of details or not.

Haven't people learned yet? If the original post in a thread says "please dont say '...'" Then the first reply WILL say just that. In fact, it's usually copied and pasted to include such things as spelling errors or aLtErNaTiNg CaPiTaLiZaTiOn.

But, alas, I dont believe the joker shouldh ave a backstory. And i'm not quite sure why you say "we know the Joker will have a backstory". how do we know this exactly?

We know he's going to have a backstory because i remember Nolan saying so. though i can't seem to find the link.

Don't bother. He doesn't believe in links.

BOF report I believe. All Nolan has said is too look at the original Joker stories, back in the Bob Kane days.

I'm in the camp that says if he does have a back-story, it should only be told in brief and ambiguous flash backs, perhaps with some kind of discrepancies between them, thereby bringing in the multiple choice memory idea. The only consistency in all the flashbacks should be that Batman is prominent in each, and in Joker's mind, is somehow responsible for his accident.

They should just go with flashback scene, what is enough to explian his story.

The "backstory" should be explained while Batman does his detective stuff, however nothing very concreit. We do not need a very deep backstory for the Joker.

Also, this thread is perhaps the 25th one made on this subject and completely unneeded in every way. I am waiting for D.A. Dent to come in and post one of his special pics.

Okay...I'm sure if I'm not following the storyline laid out in BB someone will let me know, BUT...at the end of Begins when Gordon slips Bats the evidence bag with the Joker card in it and they exchange the dialogue about The Joker...the accident that created the altered persona of "The Joker" has already happened. And Batman seemingly shows no reaction indicating he knows something of the villian...wouldn't that indicate that in this storyline Batman has nothing directly to do with the 'creation' of The Joker?

I mean the whole Begins story was to take us through the very start of Batman's story...and there was nothing in that screenplay that could be interpreted as having to do with anything that might have spawned The Joker. And we know the character is starting a crime spree at the end of that movie...so how could we see flashbacks of any sort of accident with which Batman had any involvement? (Unless they just make up a moment that supposedly happened during 'Begins' and insert it into Dark Knight and ask us to believe it was in a moment that we didn't see on screen?)

The Killing Joke? Batman #1?

Batman #1 had nothing to do with the Jokers origin. The Killing Joke came in the 80's - the Joker was created in 1940. Thats 40 + years of Joker goodness without origin.

im really indifferent on the joker backstory issue but if he does have one then id like it somethibng like this"Joe Kerr( or Jack Napier, or some unnamed guy) is a man struggling. he lives in the narrows of gotham with his wife and unborn son. he work two jobs, a (horrible) stand up comedian and as his day job he works at some chemical facility. then all hell breaks loose, the scarecrows fear gas is unleashed and due to some complication with pregnant women, it kills his wife he goes insane with grief( he was already somewhat unstable) and starts roaming around. he goes to the chemical place and in an imagined fight with batman(his deepest fear is bats) he stumbles into a vat. it bleaches his skin white and messes up his lips somehow. this drives him all the ****ing way over the edge. he sees himnself in the mirror and notices he looks like a clown so he dies his hair dark green and the rest is history. please note this is a half formed idea

Not necessarily, There is nothing in that scene that indicates definitively he is already the Joker. Just because it was a Joker card found means nothing. A calling card is not a new concept, and a Joker is quite possibly the most common one used as such outside of the Ace of Spades. I'm not sure if it's true, but I heard that in "real life" a Joker card is often left behind by the mob at a hit, as a warning to others that you don't cross the mob.
And the "as theatrical as you" line could just as easily apply to the Red Hood as to the Joker.
