Joker "The Joker" in development with Todd Phillips and Martin Scorsese attached? - Part 2

Considering DC, imo, has the best and most complex stories/characters in comic industry, I'm so excited to see what's next.

Absolutely! As described earlier a story of Lex running for Prsident on an anti-metahuman campaign can draw so many parallels to right wing politics today, could be a fascinating story to tell, especially if you delved into Luther’s links with politics and the media.

Its so cool to see DC and WB are attempting stories so diverse from Aquaman to MOS to Joker. As much as I am a fan of comics which are escapist fun seeing this type of work coming out is so refreshing for the genre. More stuff like this needs to come out.

It’s really so kick ass to be alive right now knowing we are getting shows like the Boys and kickass concepts such as WandaVision and films of such range, style, content and scale like the Joker and Endgame. Whenever I think about this I am just amazed and thankful

One of the mods said a while back that it's due to it being a standalone thing. Plus, it most likely won't have a continuation, so it would be a bit too much to have a sub-forum for it. A single thread for the movie is fine.

We'll see. That was 7 years ago.
Well, this was also him 2 years ago at cannes when he won for You Were Never Really Here.

I know the question has been asked before and I know the possibility is very slim, but what do you guys think the odds are WB tries to get Phoenix to return for a sequel or possibly a sequel to Reeves Batman?

I think a sequel with Phillips is a very good possibility. A Reeves Batman film, while I’m certainly hopeful, doesn’t seem too likely at this point. However, if Phoenix and Reeves have a meeting and hit it off, who knows? We shall see....

Again, given Phoenix’s preference to not be associated with franchises, I don't see him doing it again. Also, just because WB seems to have something special on their hands doesn't mean they should look for a quick cash grab and try convincing Phillips and Phoenix to be dragged into a follow-up. Let the film exist on its own like Logan before it. Finally, Reeves is creating his own Gotham, he shouldn't be obligated to include a character and/or actor for the sake of their popularity.

I see WB pushing for more of these types of films in the future rather than cashing in on a sequel

Generally, I agree. At the same time, i feel like WB may try to approach him about a batman film but I too have my doubts about that ever happening

Joaquin Phoenix sitting at Marvel's headquarters (Kevin Feige's office)

Feige: Alright, so after getting the financial stuff out of the way, here we have your schedule:

You will appear in the third and fourth Avengers movie, A solo, a sequel of course, cameo in this, cameo in that, we also need for you to do ALL the talk shows and interviews, but do it with a smile and keep it pg, not pg-13, per our demo. Oh, and after the main roster of the avengers calls it quits, We start all over again with a new roster for the next 10 years, but don't worry, you will be a vet of the team now and your name at the top of all them promo posters. We also need you to show up at Disneyland every year on the day of our Lord to just keep the Disney brand going. Any questions? If not, then sign un the dotted line.

Joaquin Phoenix....

Someone did suggest a David Fincher Riddler movie

Damn, that would be nice :)

I would like Scorsese to do that Luthor film. Maybe Phillips could convince him. From what he said Scorsese really liked the Joker script. Something like The Wolf of Wall Street, but with Luthor.

Someone said on here the next DC Black film should be Black Hawks, which is a great idea - especially since Spielberg's already attached. Only real concern is that later-age Spielberg's dramas like Lincoln are great, his big budget work like Indy 4 & Ready Player One is... more divisive. I'd call them bad, but I know the latter has fans.

I think Steve Jobs (2015) would be a better template for Luthor. Get Aaron Sorkin to script it.
Also, an R-rated Question movie from Lynne Ramsay! YWNRH was so good, she'd make an amazing, albeit most-likely violent, film.

If Cheetah wasn't in the DCEU I would make a movie using Universal's "The Wolf Man" Films as inspiration.

WB/DC wouldn’t be asking him to be locked in 5 or 6 movies like Marvel. It could be one movie in Reeves trilogy for example.

I’d rather not have another Batman villains (or other villain). So many good characters. Give me Zatanna or The Question or Constantine etc.
Even though Keanu Reeves Constantine movie is already R rated. I definitely wouldn't mind another Constatine movie that is a lot more accurate to the comics this time around. Also I gave that movie a re-watch on DC Universe a few weeks ago and I think the movie is pretty great if you just try not to think of it as being based on the comic.

According to critics this one already feels like a horror film, so i would like them to explore that twisted and dark side of DC more. Constantine, Justice League Dark, etc. I would like that.

And a worthy The Dark Knight Returns adaptation.

And a Batman Beyond movie.

They have yet to add other two five star reviews from Stardust and Daily MaIl. That would make it like 15 five star reviews. And that's before it even got released. Insane.

Villains rarely get their own movies. Plus, it would give WB the ability to have an independent string of films that focus on darker characters.
