Joker "The Joker" in development with Todd Phillips and Martin Scorsese attached? - Part 2

DeNiro is so blase he more or less basically spoiled his fate during Fallon tonight lol, then again its probably not a surprise to anyone.

Why hasn't this been the poster all along?

The craziest aspect of this film, in my mind, is they can create very different face paint and suit... and it doesn’t even matter. Because, they will/did get his character traits and motivations correct.

Once again proving that the character matter more than the look. Heath/Nolan proved that, some of the MCU has proved that... and hopefully Reeves gets to next.

"God Bless America" was a 2011 Black Comedy that was just horrible (had to search for the title just now as couldn't remember it).

You can read about it here: God Bless America (film) - Wikipedia

As far as where the line is in terms of glorifying someone going nuts, I think can be exemplified by this really distasteful comedy that came out years ago I saw part of on a some streaming service I can't remember.

I didn't bother sitting through the entire movie as I just remember the film starting out as some middle aged office worker getting upset at how spoiled some girl was on a reality TV show. He turns into a mass shooter and another middle school girl joined him as his sidekick as they went from place to place. I couldn't finish the movie as a really distasteful comedy.

Sure it was a small release and not associated even loosely with any IP (nor any real cultural impact or marketing blitz/media attention close to this film) but it is a good example of a movie that crosses the line in terms of being socially reprehensible.

Compare that to this Joker movie and I think a contrast may be had as far as distaste goes.

I'll admit to not having watched Mad Men but I just checked and yeah that's in the actor Joel Murray's credits.

It's not a spoiler if it's obvious. Bambi's mom dying? That's a spoiler because who saw that coming? This? You knew it the second you saw the trailers.

Maybe I'm alone on this, but anyone else just tired of the discourse and the media hype surrounding this movie? I'm just waiting for the movie to open and get this sh** over with.
Yup.....long month it has been. Looking forward to seeing it and closing out the outside noise.

My mind is already blown away by reading positive reviews and mass hysteria and I haven't even seen the movie !! Hope it lives upto hype, I know the first two acts are going to be a slow burn.

Todd Phillips probably won't be getting a best director nod, but based on these reviews, he certainty seems to be deserving of one.
