Joker "The Joker" in development with Todd Phillips and Martin Scorsese attached? - Part 2

I am doing a small Joaquin Phoenix marathon in preparation for Friday.

Basically re-watched Gladiator, Walk The Line, and currently watching The Master for the first time.

Love the former two (seen them many times), but The Master is... I can barely go through that film. Both me and my gf are like "what the **** are we actually watching?" Still got 1 hour left and I am not sure if I can make it...

Yeah, Phoenix is an amazing actor but I wasn't a fan of his performance in The Master. I think DDL said that Phoenix should have won the Oscar for it and he would know MUCH better than I would, but I honestly felt like Phoenix came off ridiculous in that movie. The movie itself I find interesting because it's a good depiction of the early days of Scientology and the whole mindset of L. Rob Hubbard, but I felt like the movie should have just focused on that. Philip Seymour Hoffman is amazing in his part but I felt like Phoenix was over-the-top. Just my opinion of course (and it's probably a bad one, lol).

Look at this beautiful shot

Gladiator is such a badass movie and Phoenix is rightfully scumming in it. Crowe gives one of his best performances and Scott gives it his all. RIP Oliver Reed.

Completely forgot Walk the Line. Never liked that. It was made to cash in on Ray’s success and it gave a horrid actress like Witherspoon an Oscar for dying her hair, I guess.

The Master? It’s the Clockwork Orange of our generation, PTA is an absolute genius, and Phoenix gave the best performance of the century so far. The 65mm cinematography (not tampered by a digital intermediate) is stunning. Adams gives her best performance here, too, and if it weren’t for Hathaway being slightly better in Les Mis, Adams would have an Oscar by now. And may PSH Rest In Peace.

Booooo! Ha, I love his performance in that film x

Yeah I felt like Phoenix deserved an Oscar for that film more than she did, but she’s a good actress. She’s awesome on Big Little Lies.
Heath Ledger was the one who should’ve won. I know you’re talking about him winning compared to her winning but I just had to get that out there. 14 years later, his performance in Brokeback Mountain still haunts me.

Damn, was that the year Heath was up? Forgot that. Okay, yeah, he should have won for that. Just looked it up and I see that was the year PSH won for Capote. Damn, the awards were packed that year.

So THAT scene just got leaked online so be wary of social media right now

PSH would have been the best actor working today if he didn't pass away. Also I'd argue that DDL in There Will Be Blood, a fellow PTA protagonist, is the best performance of the century; but Phoenix as Quell is probably the #1 of this decade so far

Man, 2014 was hard on all of us. PSH, Mike Nichols, Shirley Temple, Marilyn Burns (from Texas Chainsaw Massacre), Lauren Bacall, James Garner, Christine Cavanaugh, Bob Hoskins, Mickey Rooney, and Joan Rivers all died that year.

The worst being Robin Williams, whom I’m still trying to grasp is no longer with us. You know he really wanted to be the Joker and was so excited when WB said he had the part, only to be tricked to be used as at Trojan Horse to get Jack Nicholson in the role. Williams was so pissed at WB, he declined to star in a movie for them for many years, even refusing the Riddler for Forever. Yes, there was a point in time when Williams hated 2 major movie studios.

If, IF they're planning on doing a sequel to this it'd be interesting if it wasn't a sequel at all. Do a "trilogy" of Joker origins with the same creative team and Phoenix. Multiple choice.

I suggest to avoid youtube and reddit because there's a big scene on YT spoiled from the movie screening

So the movie is at 77% ot RT with 140 votes and it is still not certified fresh.

PS: Can someone tell me what this leaked scene is all about? (in spoiler tags ofc)
