Joker "The Joker" in development with Todd Phillips and Martin Scorsese attached? - Part 2

It's really annoying when the media hijacks issues that affect Black people and/or other marginalized groups to push their own corporate agendas(like I said they do this same crap with Bernie Sanders too). It underminds the true plight that those groups have to deal with and that's more disturbing than the movie could have ever been! that excerpt is so offensive to think that they can weaponize the plight of black and marginalized people with their whitesplaination. The majority of black people would side-eye the f@#k out of that article. And if you look at what made up the audience in attendance of this film, Black people are a high percentage of it!
I've seen people that are super pro black on Twitter trashing this article. Its pathetic how the media is trying to trash this movie in order to push their white supremacist or incel narrative.

Other than the story and setting being inspired by Taxi Driver and King of Comedy, I dont see it being too similar to a Scorcese film.

The way its shot and edited is a completely different style to Scorcese. It's no where near as kinetic. And it has a dream like, trippy look to it.

I dont think Phillip's is getting enough credit. It's a masterfully directed film imo. The little symbolic details, the patient and deliberate flow, the control and balance of tone, the ambiguity. Some of the visuals are just incredible. Its top, top tier work.

Its If he wasnt the guy known for The Hangover and Old School, but a complete newcomer or an indie favourite, I think people would be drooling all over him and talking about best director Oscars etc.

Jeez I don’t understand the anger this film gets from people and why they need to just say it’ll turn you into a psycho. How many horror movies are out there where we watch them rampage through teens like it’s nothing. But this movie will suddenly cause an uprising making anyone who see’s it? Please
The film is a vessel for people with agendas. The only thing you can do is block the noise out on social media. Your average Joe loves this film.

Whats funny about that was yesterday Deadline had it at $42 million with a $13 million Friday and over at BOT they were openly mocking the number because they were running the numbers and not one projection was anywhere close to that number. Now Deadline's numbers track their projections almost perfectly.

Gemini Man was a flop after Thursday previews. At this rate Joker wont have competition until Terminator.

There's elements of Taxi Driver, King of Comedy, The French Connection, The Warriors, Network, and even Fight Club.

My dad adores most of those films (plus all things Batman) so to say he loved this film would be an understatement :)

BTW...and not to start a war...but most likely Joker is going to beat BvS ($330 million) and Suicide Squad ($325 million) domestically. If the reports of great holds internationally are true this could beat them both WW as well. Leaving aside how you feel about those films (good or bad) that is friggin astounding. A Batman villain, without Batman, in a low budget period piece character study could potentially be one of the highest grossing and most profitable DC projects. No one was thinking that...

edit: FWIW the BOT guys are saying Saturday sales arent going nutso so it might be a bit lower than the new projections. Man they change on a dime. Should be somewhere in the 50s but no one knows for sure.

Yeah, and The most "safe" movie Justice League, which ten years ago I would have never dreamed of tanking did just that. Funny world we live in.

Paramount releasing it's big budget movie one week after DC movie and facing the consequences again.
And this time the films aren't even close in quality since for me Joker is one of the better movies of the year and Gemini Man was one of the worst.

I know this was posted earlier but it's great to look at that Joker premiere photos again.

Just saw the film and I loved it, but I was hoping for something more daring based on the reaction.

Phoenix's performance, the cinematography, the production design were fantastic. However, my favourite part of the film belongs to the score! Ominous, tragic, and epic, especially during the final moments of the film. 8.5/10 for me!

Beautiful!

Really want to make time to see this again and just get sucked back into this world, but real life gets in the way. May ultimately miss out on seeing it in IMAX, but alas. Very glad to see it's doing gangbusters at the box office, though.

And in the continuing rollercoaster it looks like the Saturday number wont be as bad as some feared and that $58-60 million for the weekend is looking good. That is one heckuva hold if true.

Is there any truth to the rumor that the Joker will be out on Bluray this December?
