Joker "The Joker" in development with Todd Phillips and Martin Scorsese attached? - Part 2

I don't think that's a bad thing. He isn't acting arrogant like Rian Johnson or other directors. He is just stating a fact. People are gonna hate this. God, some people already hate it. Just look at CBM, at Twitter, 4chan.
4chan is gonna hate this movie.

Rian Johnson was simply defending himself and other actors from toxic trolls that are ruining fandom.

I do agree about Philips though. He's not saying anything wrong and is literally just trying to let people know what type of movie it is.

Now the only film opening in wide release October 4 since Woman in the Window's been delayed indefinitely.

They're probably going to love this movie. They already made a frog version of the character.

lmfaooooo.
It's anti-Trump for one, so they'll hate it no matter what. Secondly, Arthur's a sad sack loser, and the film looks down on him a lot, so they'll call it "Soyker" or whatever.

The second point I can see them being a fan of. Since the sad sack loser part will probably be before he becomes the joker.

They announce it “wont follow the comics” has it got so bad over at WB that they have given up doing anything accurately. They misewell do a flash film about a fast tailor and just go from there.

We’ve had accurate Jokers.
We’ve had what a lot of people consider definitive.

What’s so wrong with doing something new? :funny:

This was stated before it even went into production to be a more grounded origin story of the man behind the Joker. What comics did you want it to follow, The Killing Joke? Most people rather see something original than a carbon copy of what you can read at anytime.

this Hate everything culture were in is tiresome now that YouTube dropped a feature for mobile that any channel that appears on your recommendations you can permanently block from your feed anything with these clickbait titles about movies I'm looking forward to seeing I just block no need feed that kind of hysteria

You may be severely over-estimating their media literacy. Think of all the people who believe Fight Club, a film deeply unsubtle about its brutal criticism of fragile masculinity, is unironically preaching Tyler Durden's message.

Not that it really matters. I don't think art is responsible for the fools who misinterpret it. Taxi Driver ain't responsible for Reagan getting shot. Artists shouldn't have to fearfully sand down the edges of their work.

Basically the Black Label comics that DC has been doing but for movies. If Joker proves successful, this could be starting its own thing. Interesting that he pitched this to WB at 2016 cuz that was awhile ago and guessing they didn't greenlight this movie until after Justice League failed at the box office which meant maybe WB then saw this as an alternative.

Indeed it is.

When I don't like a movie I pop in the thread here give my little 2 cents and I never return to that thread

sometimes I wonder if they hate a certain movie or whatever so much, why do they continue to agitate themselves with following the movie?

Justice League is whats wrong with it.

Before they go off doing something brand new with a character we have like 4 of running around they need to focus on doing something right with the characters and giving us the movies they have failed to deliver. .

If this movie is successful, which there seems to be no doubt that it will be, then WB will definitely want to create a "definitive" label for DC Black/Dark. But let's wait until this film is released before they start greenlighting projects left and right. Anyone remember Universal's Dark Universe that never got made because of The Mummy flop?

I wouldn't be so sure of that. Not saying it will bomb, but I'm not sure how much broad appeal a dark, R-rated character piece like this is going to have, even if it is about the most famous supervillain on earth. This is ostensibly going to have more in common with prestige awards dramas than any kind of blockbuster.

With the combination of a small budget and early October release, I think the odds are in its favor--especially if the reviews turn out great.

I'll give Phillips and Phoenix credit, they're both very passionate about this which makes me even more excited. The parallels drawn are something we've known since pre-production, but it's great to see how much they kept that focus throughout production.
