Joker "The Joker" in development with Todd Phillips and Martin Scorsese attached? - Part 2

Nice article. I love the passion, they're really doing a good job of hyping up the movie.

Phillips and Phoenix's process together sounds really cool. So incredibly excited to see his performance, sounds like he gave it his all.

Why even put him in the suit? This is another frustration with how DC is handling this. If you are going completely off the rails then have him wear something else. You're trying to cash in on something you are paying no attention to.

It shouldn't be a surprise, but I'm a little disappointed Joaquin gave almost zero insight into his preparation and research for the role. I was really excited to hear him talk about the character, even in a broader sense.

As expected, Phoenix gave us weird, noncommittal answers. :funny:

Interviewer: "So what was it like playing the Joker?"
Phoenix: "It's hard to talk about it, because it's kinda like being in a relationship."
Interviewer: "....Oh."

Kinda makes me wonder of what would Ledger have said in his interviews.

What could have been.

it's funny you guys say 4chan will hate this, because I've heard left wing Trump haters bash this film and saying it's going to be a incel fantasy.

If they’re smart they’ll play into both crowds, so people can take what they want from it.

Most of the Joker protests had signs like
“eat the rich” and stuff like that, sound familiar? Looks like Joker is a progressive Democrat to me! Lol

Yeah this podcast i heard that from, are idiotic. They don't want art to be gritty and depressing.

I just had a weird ass dream that Phoenix stole a cop car from the set of this movie and refused to be called anything other than Wally the Beast, so they had to go back and dub any saying of "Arthur Fleck" with "Wally the Beast"

Let's hope I don't uuuh... Jinx anything

There are some interviews out there where he talked about his process. I think he was more open about than Phoenix will probably be.

Wally the BEA$T

Joker sees Flash coming at super speed, sticks his hand out, rips his heart out of his chest, consumes it , and therefore transforms into something that's neither Wally nor Joker , but something... OTHER

Wait, does this mean it was shot in native 70mm? Or is it being converted? I assumed this was shot on digital, not film.

According to IMDB they shot the movie on an Arri Alexa 65 mm digital camera

‘Joker’: Marc Maron Explains the Character He Plays Opposite Robert De Niro

“I’m present during the last part of the movie,” Maron said during an interview in New York, while promoting “Sword of Trust,” and cautioned that his role was a minor one. “My scene in that is not huge, but I do have a pivotal scene with Robert De Niro and Joaquin.” While Phoenix plays the future Joker as a failed comedian, De Niro is a talk show host. “I basically play De Niro’s producer in a quick scene,” Maron said. “My character is a guy trying to manage the whole situation with the two of them.”

Maron said he has high hopes for the movie. “Todd’s approach was really to do a character study of a mentally ill person, going into why he’s mentally ill and what his struggles are as a person, and how that collapses his moral foundations,” Maron said. “He’s not a traditional comic book universe villain because this is kind of an origin story.”
