Joker "The Joker" in development with Todd Phillips and Martin Scorsese attached? - Part 2

every time i hear about gun control it reminds me of this..

“You don’t need no gun control, you know what you need? We need some bullet control. Men, we need to control the bullets, that’s right. I think all bullets should cost five thousand dollars… five thousand dollars per bullet… You know why? Cause if a bullet cost five thousand dollars there would be no more innocent bystanders.
Yeah! Every time somebody get shut we’d say, ‘Damn, he must have done something ... ****, he’s got fifty thousand dollars worth of bullets in his ass.’
And people would think before they killed somebody if a bullet cost five thousand dollars. ‘Man I would blow your ****ing head off…if I could afford it.’ ‘I’m gonna get me another job, I’m going to start saving some money, and you’re a dead man. You’d better hope I can’t get no bullets on layaway.’” ― Chris Rock

And as a commentary, far left (as one myself) is against PC culture because of its dogmatism. Dogmatism is against critical thinking, which is one of the founding bases of the ideology.

This "left loonies" that you describe are more akin to "high school lefties" than any other thing. In my country they are called "café lefties" because of their superficial thought argummentations.

As a non American, I’ll never understand the fascination some in the US have with guns. It almost seems like they treat them as toys for adults. Very strange and very weird. There’s a childlike attachment to them. And it’s easier to point the finger at movies like this, than it is to admit this twisted psychology and do something about it.

Yep, pretty much. For most gun owners in the U.S.. it's all about entertainment and feeling like you have a big ****. It's not about protection. If it's about protecting yourself, then you have one or two guns at best. If you have an arsenal, particularly one with military grade weapons, it's all about getting your rocks off and feeling like a badass. And the gun lobby has been able to weaponize (no pun intended) that mentality and brainwash people into thinking that it's better for CHILDREN to be shot in school than for someone to take away the weapons of mass killing.

...or protecting you and your loves in the event that a tyrannical government takes power. Case in point: Nazi Germany or any number of communist dictatorships. But I'm not here to get into a political debate. I just thought that oft-repeated justification needed to be noted here.

For Europeans, we wonder why America is dominated by one emotion: fear. Not only are there done little efforts to quell it but rather grow it constantly with fearmongering about your fellow man, usually those of different color. Couple that with guns, you create yourself a powder keg. That's why I understand authorities concerns.

I guess there’s not such an outcry about Wick because of the context. Assume when a character is positioned as an out and out ‘hero good guy’ then people are happier to stomach excessive violence. Also, Wick is clearly meant as an action fantasy, whereas Joker is being portrayed as a more realistic drama. Not saying it’s right to lambast Joker and not John Wick - the double standard on gun violence is obvious - but the context may explain the difference.

Yeah, I mean John Wick is about a hitman killing other hitmen who are trying to kill him, because Wick killed someone who killed his dog. And you compare that movie to Joker. :funny:

You could make the same argument about the recent Rambo movie, but I ain't about to get into that can of worms.

Point is, americans should calm the eff down for once and not make a bigger deal out of this. Because by doing that, you're only making it worse.

That's the ABC of controlling the sheepish populace. Instill them fear, point them the cause, sell them the meanings to end it. The whole system retrofeeds itself while you have "enemies" to blame.

And America have been waging this war against the world since the Big Stick policy.

For those who do Regal- or who just may have gotten lucky- did anyone happen to get their hands on that Regal-exclusive Joker poster? Because it looks like it'd go great on a wall:

Anyway.... As someone who lives in England and who is not caught up in the mass hysteria, can I just ask if anybody knows if the score is being released today? Because I heard the digital release was the 27th.

Had some points to redeem on my account, just snagged these. Thanks!

It's my own fault for not even asking if they can be purchased in-person, but then again, past posters I've gotten- mostly for midnight screenings like Watchmen- were on the night of the premiere right before going to the theater, not necessarily at the box office a week in advance.

Point is I want that damn poster!

It should be out today. Don't know the exact time.

Thanks for this, just got one.

Another 5/5 star review. Back to 7.71 now. Another two 5/5 star reviews need to be added. That makes it like 25 5/5 reviews i think.

Heh. Now this is a move from WB that I like. Rather than letting the press and media continue to dictate the conversation, they say 'Yeah, no' and decide to state the narrative themselves. This isn't a move WB would've made leading up to Justice League, that's for sure. If the critics get angry, then they'll just be angry.

Did the same people who are applauding this also applaud when Disney did the same thing (banned certain press outlets from The Last Jedi premiere because they wrote bad things about them)?
