Joker "The Joker" in development with Todd Phillips and Martin Scorsese attached? - Part 2

Did the same people who are applauding this also applaud when Disney did the same thing (banned certain press outlets from The Last Jedi premiere because they wrote bad things about them)?

The press still can go to the premiere and watch the film. They just can't interview anyone about it at the premiere

That's not much better.

Why are we celebrating this? Big studios retaliating against negative press coverage by restricting access is not good, no matter which big studio does it.

They're restricting access because the people interviewing them only want to talk about how the movie will inspire "incels" to go on mass murder sprees instead of the quality of the movie itself.

WB right now is in a damned-if-you-do-damned-if-you-don't type situation no matter what they do.

I honestly think this was the least worse choice they could have gone with. They're gonna get backlash, sure, but they're already getting backlash in the first place just for the movie's existence.

"Is it just me or is it getting crazier out there " This quote gives me shivers all the time. The agenda and hysterics around this film is disturbing in itself. The media always blaming films and video games for violence in people. Never the mention of physiological damage from society and other people within that person's life. I mean christ i just want to watch a film about a person descending into madness. Are the media scared of the social message this film will give out (if there even is on). What a time to be alive. Folks are getting triggered over everything these days and it seems white incel men are under the most heat. It makes me wonder if films like American psycho would be made in todays climate.... Probably not.

Anyone knows when we will be able to hear the score?

More and more studios should do this when it comes to so called critics or journalists. Especially the ones who are heavily biased in a specific and certain direction trying to push their bs agendas.

Yes! Lets all root for the big giant corporation to restrict press access because of negative coverage! Because the big giant corporations are our friends and they need to be protected from negative press coverage. Fawning press coverage and press too scared to say anything negative will definitely serve us MUCH better in the future! You are absolutely right.

There's a big difference between negative coverage about a movie's quality and just pure paranoid cries that have nothing to do with the movie's quality.

The stairs scene will forever be an iconic piece of movie history with Arthur going down the stairs dancing to one of the most iconic songs in rock history

The outrage is ****ing ridiculous. Folks acting like movies like Taxi Driver and Falling Down haven't been around for decades. Its practically it's own subgenre.

Never underestimate how much the backlash has to do with Joker being an incredibly mainstream film that won the Golden Lion.

From that moment on it was a threat to those critics who respect “auteur” films. For them, Todd Phillips and Joker are the incels - irresponsible and reckless forces who threaten the artistic integrity of these festivals.

I applaud WB for this move. The longer the press hypes up the possibilities for mass shootings and tries to get people going, the more likely it is to happen. What sort of irresponsible reporting is this? It’s practically daring someone to do it.

Joaquin's press interviews for this film...the way he talks about the character you can tell he had a blast playing it

What's funny and sad at the same time is that if all those idiots didn't talk every day about all this "Incel" stuff and how problematic and dangerous this movie is, I would be 100% nothing was gonna happen. But now I'm starting to have doubts.
