You can go to a company and say what you want. And that company can decide to fire you or not. It’s been like that for years. I mean I don’t get the complaint? Do people really not understand that you can’t be hired and go say whatever you want and then say "it's a joke." In fact that's not just with employment.
Freedom of speech is not freedom of consequences and it’s really sad that people don’t seem to get that.

Thats one of the biggest BS ive read in a while anywhere.
When a group of people protest and demand from a company that a person is fired for certain remarks that the company didnt care before said protest doesnt fit your rule.

Who has been destroyed just for jokes?

Antony Jeselnik a well known comedian for example was threatened to lose his job including ALL the jobs of the people that worked on his show if he didnt delete a joke on twitter.
He didnt want to delete it but he did because he didnt want all the others to lose their jobs.

And there plenty of cases were people got fired or almost fired (because they apologized) for political comments that are only offensive subjectively.

There is an undeniable language policing happening in politics that also affects comedy. Nothing new here.

You cant say what you want when you should be able to. Specific instances like cursing / slander / provocation / calling for violence are already punishable by law and have been since centuries.

I don't get Freddy Got Fingered vibes from this. That's a GOAT movie by the way and anyone who disagrees with that, I will fight to death with pillows.

I forget which film it was but the quote at RT managed to spoil something fairly major back in the day. Not sure how those quotes are decided, if it's random or something the critic picks.

Yeah, you got the feeling he saw a new market corner (=incels) and began to exploit it. His praise of Captain Marvel parts in Endgame sort of went against the CM review. Same goes for Tyrone Magnus who I just can't watch anymore, he did exactly the same, bashed the solo movie, praised the Endgame parts. His gimmick has gone stale.

It HAS a chance. All theaters from my city got sold out for midnight screening. That and praise from general audience seems to be very good. I'm going to watch it again and there was only 4 seats left for it.

What's happening with this film is truly insane. From one side are those that think it's a masterpiece (like me). From other, those that think it's a solid film. And in the other, those who HATE this film. HATE.

I very much doubt this movie is "enjoyable", I may be wrong, I haven't seen it, but it seems like its biggest strength it's that it's pretty miserable and feels like it's punching you in the face.Which is a great form of art.. but it's kinda niche


And you're overstimating how familiar audiences are with this movie. Half the people on the world can barely tell Marvel and DC apart... you expect them go go into a Joker movie and not be disapppointed Batman isn't hinted in anyway?

Yes because I actually talk to people and dont just wildly speculate based on my own feelings.

AwardsWatch is a truly awful place. Had an account a long time ago, but left because how insufferable many of those guys are.

Ive literally just got home from my screening.

Ive seen a trailer. Read some articles about the movie. Didnt spoil myself. Relatively clueless about the movie other than the general themes of the online reviews.

I had a suspicion that i might not like the movie or that i would find something that will bother me with it.

Well tbh the movie is a 9,5 for me.

* Its slow paced but has suspence and flows VERY WELL unlike Ad Astra.

* Joaquin's performance is STELLAR. Top notch. The direction they went is brilliant imho. Matched if not surpassed Ledger's performance. One of my friends i saw the movie with said this was one of the best performances in history. He said its better than Ledger's and he is a fan of Ledger's portrayal. Like a hardcore fan.

* Violence. Decent amount but i wouldnt say its the most violent movie i ve seen. Not even close.
Also i think its a lame arguement to say the movie is too violent. Like what are you 5 ? Grow up.
Not a word about visuals , editing , plot , character development etc ? You got disturbed by the violence ? FACEPALM Dont go to the movies. Dont watch R-Rated films. You dont deserve them.

* Surprising and unpredictable. You dont see the things that are coming. Quite a few twists.

* Dark , edgy , relentless.

Great film. 9,5/10.

And im not even a Joker or Batman fan.
