Joker "The Joker" in development with Todd Phillips and Martin Scorsese attached? - Part 2

Do you guys even really care what the RT score is?

I don't. In the end I understand why the negatives feel the way they feel while at the same time love the film myself. A lot of great movies get mixed responses when they 1st come out mostly due to disagreeing on the nature of its content rather than the old school "Is it good or bad?" question, so I'd personally add Joker to that list. I think Todd Phillips should be proud of himself for making something that causes such conversations.

I try to watch everything also....but I have to limit the number of films I see at the theater. JOKER will be a on cable watch for me.

Nope.

I'm at an age where my life neither improves or degrades depending on if I am part of an event. I will see something when I decide to see it. I will either like it or not depending on my watching it, not on what the discussion deems I should do.

You should see it in theaters because it's a great movie and deserves to be seen on the big screen, and not because it makes you part of an event.
With that being said, do whatever you want. It's not like it's going to change my life.

At the end of the day who gives a sh**? Even if the movie had only 1 star reviews and 0% on RT, you should always stick with how you feel about the film. As someone who tries to watch everything, I don't spend most of my day refreshing the RT score like some of you here.

Much of Bruce’s moral centre comes from his father’s influence. That’s always been the case. People are only suddenly deciding it’s okay for Thomas to be a bit of a bad guy because they still really want Batman to exist in this universe, despite it being vastly unlikely.
I've never seen that really adapted much in live action except in TDKT and Gotham. In Telltale Batman I think his dad was a corrupt or something. But I wouldn't say it, from what I've read/heard, directly paints Thomas as strongly a bad guy, enough to showcase a strong influence on Bruce negatively.

Though also, there's the concept that it could, in theory, be based on Joker's perception of the situation, not directly what happened, maybe even being not true entirely.

God, I really hope Todd & Joaquin recorded commentary for the Blu-Ray.

I have a friend who is on the same boat, and asked me if he should wait for it on cable or pay to see it. He was glad that he went to see it in the theater. I also admit that the film will play just as smooth on your livingroom. lol

Just drink some baileys, old man.

:o

Looks like he not going to get a fair shot at a Oscar.

:funny: jesus christ, never knew the industry was so scary

No wonder why there's a lack of risk taking in Hollywood

It's going to make a lot of money, so if you're running a studio you're supposed to make that movie, but is it responsible? I was once confronted with that same question, and I decided not to make the movie — and the movie got made and made a lot of money anyway.

Loooool

Looks like many loved it but also many hated it. 50/50 chances rn. Though i can see this one getting a BP nom. One of those said he was at a screening with other 500 members and it was well received. Other said it was gonna win BP. There are like 7000 academy members. The fact guys like Chris Rock called it masterpiece gives it a chance, i guess.

I don't really care about Oscars since they snubbed TDK, tho. That movie was incredible and if the Oscars were fair, it should have been the first CBM to get a nom (or even win). But that's Hollywood for you.

I mean, this movie wasn't even THAT dark. Some people are acting like it is Salo or Serbian Film.

I mean, they'll never be able to prove the flick didn't get the acclaim it deserved due to bias, but it'll be debated like hell if it gets snubbed.

And you sound like you would be a blast at parties....

It is also well known that most oscar voters don't even watch the screeners and simply vote with the popular vote.

Reminds me of Gwyneth Paltrow earlier this year who admitted a couple days before the Oscar submissions cut-off, that she hasn't seen any of the Best Picture Nominees even though she's a voter :funny:

one thing i got to say is the media coverage on this film was very awful and irresponsible all the hot takes, think pieces, articles were all about incels, white men, mass shootings, etc.

instead of talking about mental illness, treating people better, and the effects of people not getting the help and care they need and what can become when they dont

truly shows the society we are in

I mean the movie pretty much was one big meta finger point at how we treat those that are mentally ill. We don't know how to.
