Joker "The Joker" in development with Todd Phillips and Martin Scorsese attached? - Part 2

Yeah, and The most "safe" movie Justice League, which ten years ago I would have never dreamed of tanking did just that. Funny world we live in.
It wasn't because of the Justice league brand itself, it was because of poor story planning and storytelling. The audience has to be treated with respect. For some reason studios lose site of that. And I assume that's mostly because yes, sometimes there are some pretty horrible films that see unbelievable break-out successes(cough Jurrasic World: Fallen Kingdom), but with DC, there were multiple films in a row leading up to justice league that was not being received well by audiences and critics alike. Whether or not you like those previous films, that is going to have an effect on audiences' faith in a brand period. it's frustrating when people act like its rocket science particularly studio execs. Part of me is very pissed that Warner Brothers allowed the brand to be harmed in that way. When the Age of Ultron was received with slightly less praise than the first Avengers film, Joss Whedon was tossed to the curb. That is the appropriate response and the type of protection Warner Brothers needs to have for its DC properties.

But hey, at least it looks like things are changing for the better. they have quite a bit of critical and/or financial success with the last few DC offerings. And I believe that Joker is going to be very revitalizing for audience perception which can mean a great deal for the next few DC movies coming out. I really think things are looking good now for DC/WB if they continue with this trend of being thoughtful with their releases rather than reactionary.

BTW "Man of Steel" is the most underrated comic book movie of all time hands down, period! It did not get the respect that it deserved from critics! And I know I am not the only one that feels that way. History will treat that film with the respect it deserves just like Batman Returns before it.

The guy who plays Arthur's boss in the film, Josh Pais, was the voice of Raphael in TMNT 1990 and also performed in the suit.

These box office numbers...

I was never crazy about such a big age difference between The Joker and Bruce but that scene in the film between the two of them ended up being one of my favorites. Great interaction between Arthur and Alfred too. I also liked how De Niro reminded me of a mix between Tony Bennett and Richard Dawson in the Running Man.

OMG, the scene with Bruce Arthur and Alfred was one of my favorite scenes too. Bruce was so innocent in this film which made the film all the more tragic for me.

This is certainly a film that has something to say. It's speaking to us about the epidemic of mental illness... it's vocalizing the huge inequality divide and the feelings of other-ness that come from that. It's message is certainly bleak and cynical... and in that way, it's a hard move to get behind emotionally. It's just not a very enjoyable movie to watch. There's a sick perverseness in it..like being a fly on the wall of a horrible happening, and the joy of being there to witness it. But it's hard to deny that it comes across as very unique. It takes it's material seriously, and the last 10 minutes are absolutely unreal in a very strange, and dark, and oddly satisfying kind of way. A very unique movie.

R rated movie and with lesser budget. Which mean more freedom for the creators, possibly more inspiration and singular movies. Bring it !
Yeah, only franchise movies will actually get budgets on par with PG-13 quadrant hitters. Terminator Dark Fate probably cost a pretty penny, for one.

Deadpool, Logan and now Joker prove that R rated cbms can make big money.

Let's hope Marvel take note when it comes to Blade.
Not only Blade, but also....Deadpool. They kinda own that, now. Along with Wolverine. :hehe:

So let's hope there's another Logan/Deadpool style movie up their sleeve, cause I'm not so sure if there is.
