I'm so relieved with the new Joker pic.. I remember thinking Nolan had completely lost it when this pic came out:

heath_joker_ibelieveinharveydenttoo_2.jpg

i got really excited. I thought he looked like a bipolar skullfaced nightmareish joker

Nevah [/fanboy]

What I think is funny is that basically everyone is saying that if next week someone came out with a new comic-book origin for the Joker, and it had him as a normal-skin lunatic with clown make-up on, then everyone would go.."well Nolan's movie does follow this comic"
Yeah, i love that reasoning. 'Oh, that's OK - it was in the comics.'
'But it's rubbish!'
'Yes, but it's in the comics.'
'O-kay. w/e.'

You just got through saying in another post that in the comics, Joker had no origin.

And you can't just ACCEPT a LITTLE change? The Joker had SO MANY differen't looks in the comics, so what look do you want? Jack's? Too bad, it's been done already. Now it's time for something different.
Your argument is ridiculous: "Not true to the souce material"...This Joker has the green hair, has the white face, has the red lips, HAS the scar that WAS portrayed before, and most, most most importantly: Has the psycopathic personality.

How is this not true to the source material? Because he looks like a lil different? Well, Jack's Joker had a perma-smile, had a godamn beer belly, and DIED in the movie; yet I don't see you complaining about that.

BRAP totally agree with you Stotch, this films needs something different

companies have changed a aspect of the charter to MOVIE CONITINUITY. usually with weak or poorly recieved results...but not alway...

Spidey, has the organic webshooters now. for example
My point is that if, say Frank Miller, comes out with a new Graphic Novel about the Joker putting on clown make-up, and not really caring about if his suit is clean or not, and not being perma-white.......then what? Nolans movie is true to that..seriously if everyone complaint is that Joker isnt true to the source material, then that doesnt make any sense, because anyone can change the source material.

I didnt say he didnt have an origin...some folks have been saying hes had multiple origins( wtf?) Im saying that his DEFINITIVE origin is , in my understanding , intentially myterious.

an d BTW When You see Brian Bollands Joker, or any good Batman artist,..he did have a Permasmile, but artist s draw him eith different expressions and change the smile ,..but DC HASN NOT said He doesnyt have a Permasmile..just to make a point.

and just becuase Jack was Older and heavier, doesnt mean its a beer belly...why keep talking about the 1989 movie?

I kind of think this is the best look for the Joker.

I liked it, but it was what I kind of expected Nolan would do for these movies , but I do wish we would've seen wide mouth smile and some green hair in the pic.

I got a feeling this is when he intially puts on his make-up. This scene is going to be sick.

Based on what we know now from the Empire article, I'd say that's a fair assumption to make.

Yeah, but the tricky thing is -- it's Michael Caine's quote. First, Caine says the first time he saw Ledger's Joker was when he comes into the room with a bunch of dwarves. Now he's saying the first time he saw him was on a TV screen with Batman. In both quotes, he says he was so rattled he forgot his lines. So Caine seems to be a little unreliable here; he can't quite get his story straight.

It would make some sense with some of the photos we've seen, but... who knows?

Also, I can't imagine Nolan wanting to give any sort of plot points or character arcs away. Everybody else seems to reiterate that they'd get killed if they said anything; why does Caine get to speak so freely?

that has always happened. and yes there are always people that do not like it when movies stray from the comic source but I think the people who truly do not like such changes are in a minority.

Adapting the Joker (again) is a particular tricky situation since there is no definitive origin (ie one solid one throughout the canon) and also the look of the character has changed a few times.

I really think Nolan will do a great job in TDK, he showed in BB that he can take great source material and make an even better movie out of it.

Of course there will be changes to the Joker, but like someone said, what 'origin' or take on the character do you want, and are these changes that you protest about fundamental to your enjoyment of the story? If they are then I really think you are missing something.

yeah but if frank miller did that its true people would not be *****ing about it in here. They would be over in the comic section making a scene. I'm starting to think that some people just cannot accept change in any form without whining about it.

then what, if its looks bad folks will say it...like with Dark Knight strikes ..it wasnt as well received..

I have a feeling we are gonna have to pay 9 bucks to see the money shot grin.:csad:

Lmao. I wonder if people who say things like that would enjoy seeing THIS in a Superman movie! :o After all, it was in the comics...

Or somefolks cant help but be a trolling jerk and not accept somefolks disagree ,LEGITIMATELY.

Well, I just think that the old pic was a really bad one. Heath's lips look fat, they didn't show his hair, the raccoon eyes looked horrible (IMO) etc. The newer pics of the Joker we've been treated to look a whole lot better IMO.

Okay....well Bob Kane the GOD DAMN creator of the character didn't give him a perma-smile.

Bolland's Joker certainly doesn't have a perma smile neither does Bob Kane's. As for "Uncle' Jack he sure filled those purple pants very amply:woot: (to put it nicely because he was fun nonetheless).

i think he probably looks like this in the beginning. like in that imax "fogged glass" picture. then it starts to wear off, like in the knife picture. eventually it gets "Washed off" but won't come off. like in the new picture.

then what, if its looks bad folks will say it...like with Dark Knight strikes ..it wasnt as well received..
Being comic-book accurate is not the most important thing......Schumacher was accurate, even to the campy style in the 60's, I can tell you this though, I'll take Nolan's "realism" over Joel's "accuracy" anyday.

Or somefolks cant help but be a trolling jerk and not accept somefolks disagree ,LEGITIMATELY.
Oh, the irony... especially since there are plenty of people who disagree with this interpretation of the Joker who choose NOT to be rude about it. And they don't catch any flak over it because they know how to be civil.

see superman 3....note everuyone assumes that every idea is a good one.

The point is to whittle it down to the important and keep with narrative of teh comics stuff,, ..not just whats"KEWL" or singular silly unrealted stories.

your arguement ingores that fact that Guys like Raimi and Nolan eschewed the importance of refering to the comics.

as long as you are here preaching that the movie look is bad there will be people here disagreeing with you. Its not trolling to disagree with someone. I made a statement that I dare you to Contradict.
People just seem to have an inability to deal with this change. I'm generalizing and if you don't like being lumped into that group then do something productive.

No problem. I wasplaning on spendig at least that much anyway. :woot:
I've made my g/f a deal, she can paint the bathroom pink, I get to spend every Sunday afternoon at the movies after TDK's released.
