Yeah, but the tricky thing is -- it's Michael Caine's quote. First, Caine says the first time he saw Ledger's Joker was when he comes into the room with a bunch of dwarves. Now he's saying the first time he saw him was on a TV screen with Batman. In both quotes, he says he was so rattled he forgot his lines. So Caine seems to be a little unreliable here; he can't quite get his story straight.

It would make some sense with some of the photos we've seen, but... who knows?

Also, I can't imagine Nolan wanting to give any sort of plot points or character arcs away. Everybody else seems to reiterate that they'd get killed if they said anything; why does Caine get to speak so freely?
Michael Caine can do whatever he wants. He has a free pass in my book, even if only for saying that 'I have not seen Jaws: the Revenge, but I heard it was dreadful. However, I have seen the house that it built, and that is beautiful.'
A man who can say that, can say anything. He's probably pulling our chain, misdirecting us. Either that, or his drinking is getting out of control.

Being comic-book accurate is not the most important thing......Schumacher was accurate, even to the campy style in the 60's, I can tell you this though, I'll take Nolan's "realism" over Joel's "accuracy" anyday.

Lol, I still watch Batman & Robin sometimes with friends, just for kicks. After drinking a sh**load of whiskey i.e. :woot:

Oh, the irony... especially since there are plenty of people who disagree with this interpretation of the Joker who choose NOT to be rude about it. And they don't catch any flak over it because they know how to be civil.

Oh Judgemental One....That poster threw out the insyult and his evry words were speaking of the intollerence for a disagreeing opions.

You ignored that to attack me.

I wil stick by the Fact That Ledger is Offthe Marlk as Joker and loks Like a Hobo.....but its you type that start saying...."****",..."goaway..you suck..."

nice job ignoring the truth there.

Lmao. I wonder if people who say things like that would enjoy seeing THIS in a Superman movie! :o After all, it was in the comics...

NOW THAT's THE SUPERMAN MOVIE I'M WAITING TO SEE! :woot:

By the by, wasn't there a rumor when Supermn Returns was being cast that BEYONCE KNOWLES was in the running to play Lois Lane? That would've been true to this issue.

And if that title suggest that Lois is "Curious" about all things BLACK...then I got something to really show her. :cwink:

We take a shot of Morgan everytime there is a "pun" made or a bad joke..........needless to say my liver isnt looking to good.

...or he's a normal 74 year-old, getting a little foggy.

Nice quote -- I'd never heard that.

you do know you have said some pretty negative things and attacked people too right? you are perfectly entitled to think that Ledger is off the mark as Joker, but it isn't a cold hard fact, merely your opinion.

an d BTW When You see Brian Bollands Joker, or any good Batman artist,..he did have a Permasmile, but artist s draw him eith different expressions and change the smile ,..but DC HASN NOT said He doesnyt have a Permasmile..just to make a point.

and just becuase Jack was Older and heavier, doesnt mean its a beer belly...why keep talking about the 1989 movie?

Holy ****, dude

Good luck getting married.

Okay....well Bob Kane the GOD DAMN creator of the character didn't give him a perma-smile.

BUT he DId draw the character and Base the Character after "the Man who Laughs" and that the smile was the FOCUS of the character that its grotesques and scafy.

your arguement ingores that fact that Guys like Raimi and Nolan eschewed the importance of refering to the comics.
Well, Raimi made two great movies ( and one poor one) and Nolan is 100% so far. He captured the tone of the comics very well, if not the exact details, and he still had enough of the classic lore to satisfy most people. Now, to me it's more imprtant that the tone and atmosphere of the comics are portrayed on screen than the nitty-gritty - I want an adaptation, not a facsimile. So far, with mild reservations, I think Nolan and co are doing well with TDK.

My point is that if, say Frank Miller, comes out with a new Graphic Novel about the Joker putting on clown make-up, and not really caring about if his suit is clean or not, and not being perma-white.......then what? Nolans movie is true to that..seriously if everyone complaint that Joker isnt true to the source material doesnt make any sense, because anyone can change the source material.

****ing A.

He was speaking of his intolerance of people who ***** and moan, which polite people don't do. Polite people say things like, "I don't like this interpretation because..." You know, something like that. *****ing and moaning is more along the lines of being whiney and pushy and constantly typing in caps at people who don't agree with you. Quite a difference there.

that has always happened. and yes there are always people that do not like it when movies stray from the comic source but I think the people who truly do not like such changes are in a minority.

Adapting the Joker (again) is a particular tricky situation since there is no definitive origin (ie one solid one throughout the canon) and also the look of the character has changed a few times.

I really think Nolan will do a great job in TDK, he showed in BB that he can take great source material and make an even better movie out of it.

Of course there will be changes to the Joker, but like someone said, what 'origin' or take on the character do you want, and are these changes that you protest about fundamental to your enjoyment of the story? If they are then I really think you are missing something.

I cant see how they're in the Minority if they complain and the companies retract the changes..which is often the case

I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who got sick of kevhulk's attitude.

unfortunately, a minority of opinion can still scare a studio to make changes for the sake of putting down those voices of complaint.

wow what a blatant liar ...the post have NOT been in constant caps..

it obvious you are attacking to attack.

You mean if Miller made Joker a regular guy who has not got bleached skin, and applies make up? If he did that, then he'd be spitting on over 60 years worth of Batman comics.

Nobody would accept that. It's like that crap that was done in Hush Returns, with The Riddler being somewhat involved in Joker's origin by witnessing Joker's wife being murdered.

The story is despised, and nobody acknowledges it in continuity.

BUT he DId draw the character and Base the Character after "the Man who Laughs" and that the smile was the FOCUS of the character that its grotesques and scafy.
"It’s a combination of reading all the comic books I could that were relevant to the script and then just closing my eyes and meditating on it," he says. "I sat around in a hotel room in London for about a month, locked myself away, formed a little diary and experimented with voices — it was important to try to find a somewhat iconic voice and laugh. I ended up landing more in the realm of a psychopath — someone with very little to no conscience towards his acts. He’s just an absolute sociopath, a cold-blooded, mass-murdering clown, and Chris has given me free rein. Which is fun, because there are no real boundaries to what The Joker would say or do. Nothing intimidates him, and everything is a big joke"
As said by Heath Ledger. She read the comics for inspiration - good stuff. And he has an iconic voice - AND LAUGH. If he's laughing, he's gotta be smiling as well. Just because we haven't seen it yet, doesn't mean he won't.
Heath is definitely grotesque and scary in the pics, wouldn't you say?

Bolland's great Joker doesn't have a permasmile neither does Bob Kane's.

oh jeez ....you have no Idea what your talking about..Bollands did. the artist "cheat " is to , for the sake of artistic expression, to fibb the mouth for expessions other than the smile.

Its the same with how artist would play with the eyes on Spiderman to give hime different expressions.

kevhulk is still at it. The mods have warned him a few times..

Big gulps eh?

Well see ya later ;)
