Not true, man. Johns was with WW since the beginning. He was on set since day one.

But not as the head of DC films right?

AFAIK, he was an exec producer on BvS as well. When he became head of DC Films, and acquired the power to call the shots, WW had already finished filming.

Yep I think its still up in the air, and Ben wants to do it, but Reeves is still considering his options.

At this point, I don't even know if Ben is firmly committed to reprising the role (despite what he's said on several different occasions). We'll just have to wait and see.

Geoff was there for about a year along side Patty. WW is the new Geoff era.

I know man, after he dropped out as director, I thought so too, but his words in comic con did convince me. I think he wants to stay on as long as they want him to,and he didnt just say a regular "I would like to work with Reeves", he literally said he would be a ****ing chimpanzee in a movie for Reeves. He even did the whole "Welcome to the batcave thing". Ofcourse there's always that chance, but I think Affleck wants to do this.

Nah man, sure he was there throughout the whole post production, but WW just seems like Patty's baby to me. I mean the whole thing was already shot, there didnt seem to be any production trouble, I think she made the film she wanted to make. I think Johns agreed with her vision of stuff, so it was pretty smooth sailing.

To me Wonder Woman is Jenkin's movie, its not a Jenkins/Johns movie. Thats the way I look at it. I think this was different from Marvel's where most of the movies are Feige's movies, and the directors are for hire kinda thing. I didnt get that feeling from WW. YMMV.

That's correct.

I do think that the two batting for a shared and connected universe within WB are Geoff Johns and Jon Berg. The rest wants to go back to the Batman status quo from before Man of Steel.

Geoff and Jon won the first battle with Wonder Woman. Joss Whedon is the guy leading Justice League until the finish line. You better pray to all your gods that he is capable to deliver and Justice League is an undeniable success.

The way this it's shaping up, literally the future of the DCEU as we know it depends on that. Meaning: if Justice League works and it's a box office success, expect not just Wonder Woman 2, Aquaman and Shazam, expect Batman to be "a standalone" but linked to a shared universe and returning for a Justice League sequel / other appearances in the DCEU. If Justice League is poorly received and does mediocre box office numbers, then expect Wonder Woman sequels, Aquaman, Shazam, Batman standalone films but they will be all "self-contained", with very little hope of a Justice League / cameos happening anytime soon again.

I'm not the majority in opinion on this among some people. But I do see a pattern on how WB execs think their superhero slate and I feel that the fate of the DCEU lies with Justice League. Let's see what happens next.

Son, I'm not taking credit from Patty. I'm just saying that WW is the first film he actually had full control of a DCEU film. He moved to london for a year. He and Patty did work on the script together too. He was the first one along side Patty constantly tweeting out pics and few updates here or there.

This is very important. And very important to understand it: giving credit to Geoff Johns is not taking away credit of the director of the film, which is an absolute genius. What Patty Jenkins did for Wonder Woman is no different than what Christopher Nolan did for Batman, or what Joss Whedon did with The Avengers, or what James Gunn did with Guardians of the Galaxy. Who produced all those Marvel Studios films and had the eye to help the directors with their tasks to make those characters live up to their potential at the big screen? That was Kevin Feige.

Think of Geoff Johns like the Kevin Feige of the DCEU, but one with way less power among WB than Kevin Feige has within Marvel Studios / Disney. And that's unfortunate because I feel that if Geoff Johns had his way, we'd have a very strong and complex DCEU to get excited going forward. But it's not all doom and gloom: Justice League is in very capable hands, and that's not a diss on Zack Snyder at all. What I mean is that Whedon is an experienced director when it comes to superhero assemble films, and that couldn't have come more in handy than it is now.

My hopes are that Justice League is so incredibly amazing that we can't tell what is Snyder and what is Whedon. That the film evokes the kind of epic story that a Justice League film can be, and that the public and critics embrace it completely. That happening, we will have a very strong shared universe going forward. That not happening, prepare for something a little different and more stand alone based from now on, maybe not related to the DCEU at all. The fate of the DCEU - and how far Geoff Johns and Jon Berg can ascend to have actual power among WB execs - relies on Justice League now. Hence why we should all band together behind Justice League and literally hope for the best.

Nolan did more with TDK than Patty but in her first film she has done as much as Batman 89 (one of my all time favourite CBMs) and Batman Begins. Would love to see her go for the kill in a WW sequel.

And I'm not taking credit away from Johns either. The way I see it is even if Johns and Berg were not promoted, we would have still seen a very similar film. Which I cant say for JL... I just see WW as Patty's film. I think we are going round in circles, and might not agree, so lets just agree to disagree.

Sure, but WW still counts as a notch on Johns belt. :oldrazz:

I'd argue that Patty Jenkins Wonder Woman is a much better and more rounded film than Batman Begins or Batman 89. It's an almost pitch perfect origin story of a superhero with a cultural significance unparalleled by literally no other film of the genre, hence why it resonated so hard in North America. As far as superhero origin stories films go, it ranks up there with Superman The Movie (for it's groundbreaking nature) and Iron Man (for it's quality). There's still time for Patty to do with Wonder Woman what Nolan did with the TDK trilogy, or what Captain America's trilogy is as a whole.

I don't know about much better, but slightly better I wouldn't argue against. Batman 89 really changed the game for me on the prospect of a superhero movie but I was pretty young when it came out so I don't know as clearly how large the wider impact was as I do for recent films.

Batman Begins is a better made film to me than Wonder Woman, and I enjoy it more.

Batman is my favorite superhero of all time right next to Spider-Man. I love him to death. Batman Begins is literally my favorite Batman film of all time. But Wonder Woman has the best live action origin film in my opinion. I'm capable of letting go of my personal preferences and see the film for what it is, if that makes sense. Also, the cultural impact that Wonder Woman film has right now it's just too great for me to simple ignore it. That film matters beyond the superhero genre. I'm moved by its message and how that message is resonating with people around the globe. That's a quality that I feel no other superhero film has other than Wonder Woman.

Eh, WW still ain't my favorite. I appreciate how important it is too people, but that's never going to make it a better CBM than others for me. Not even as an origin.

I can agree with the cultural impact part. But I think Batman Begins is a stronger origin movie, better made, and I like it more.

TBH, the fact that I have Batman Begins, Man of Steel and Wonder Woman(three films I consider to be great modern trinity origins), and that I have to think hard to decide which one I like most...just shows how amazing it is.

The work that went into filming scenes like Wayne and Ducard sliding off the cliff in the Himalayas (technically Iceland) was worth the price of admission alone.

Start watching from the 9:03 mark. Breathtaking stuff, boys and girls.

I never gave a second thought on how meta the last phrase Alfred says on the last trailer is:

"Now, let's hope you're not too late".

Let's hope it's not too late indeed.

God, I miss those days. I enjoyed critiquing the hell out of every aspect of those films, but it's clear looking back I was such a spoiled brat. The level of craftsmanship Nolan and co. brought to that trilogy is still unparalleled today.

I loved Wonder Woman but honestly I don't think it's even in the same league as Batman Begins.
