If you do something that makes the place you work for look bad, you can get fired. It can be argued that Snyder posting that stuff on Vero is just that considering that this movement is just throwing salt on the wound WB is trying to heal with silence.

He's not revealing anything people didn't already know. His postings aren't producing epiphanies. Silence isn't the way toward healing either. Treating things like either/or or zero sum games is not constructive, especially when there is a third way that might have produced a better reconciliation.

I agree. Its time to let it go finally. Zack really needs to say something and shut this down once and for all. The last thing we need happening is peoe starting stuff at comic con this weekend.
Zack doesn't need to do anything. A studio rep and the star of the series matter of factly stating it's not happening isn't definitive? This is what I meant weeks ago that the fans who are still hard-on about this are never going to let it go no matter what. It'll never be enough; give someone an inch, they'll take a mile.

They cornered themselves into this mess with that stepping down announcement in the first place. Disney NEVER ANNOUNCED ANYTHING for the Rogue One reshoots. Has there been a problem with that one? No? You know who's to blame then, and its not the fans, who are mere customers expressing dissatisfaction. It's the studio putting out trailers for a film that they never released. Not one shot of the 1st trailer is in the finished film. That's false advertising and just in case you didn't know, in some countries it's literally a crime.

You’re asking a movie studio to released an unfinished film. Has this ever happened before?

I don't know. Why does it matter? Just because something hasn't been done before doesn't mean it can't be. It's also not like anyone's asking for it to be released in theaters or on HBO. Put no money into finishing it, put it online for free, and make it so any hits to the website count toward some amount of money being donated to a suicide prevention charity. There is no need for rigid ways of thinking.

I personally think that’s a bad alternative. As I said I’d much rather they just did what they did with Donners Superman II and try to merge the two films together to make a complete film best they can. Well if it narratively masses sense.

That's completely antithetical to what the Snydercut movement is all about.

I think a big thing though too is JL was a flop. Why would they want to spend any time let alone money on that? I don’t think people think of the business side of things when considering the Snyder cut.

They don't have to spend anything on it.

He does, man. Zack is a primary reason there is even a movement ib the first place. Ever since the movie came out hes been sending out cryptic teases to the fans, thats how it all started. He knows very well what he started, he needs to shut it down. The fanatics wont be satisfied 100% until the very man they are rallying behind tells them to stopm

Yes. Disney released a work in progress Laserdisc of Beauty & the Beast in the 90s.

Look, if the Snyder Cut releases tomorrow, I'll be the first one to buy multiple viewings.

But this is just psychotic now. It's entering levels of lunacy where no conversations should be entering. To publish such a thing in a trade like the WSJ and calling certain fans by name is something an apprentice eating scraps from a dumpster working at your local newspaper stand wouldn't even touch. Amateur hour at best.

Well done. He got interviewed and his comments are not to be seen in the article, despite HAVING WORKED ON THE DAMN THING. Just confirmed it's a hit piece.

For the record, tho, what really was even the point of the article in the first place? To pick on this niche group of people asking for this movie and stir people up?

That doesn't matter. Especially considering the tricky legal clauses. If WB ever wants him out they have an easy way to do this. I just can't figure out why they don't make him make a definitive statement.

The WSJ writer or Oliva? I don't see any problems with Oliva's comments. He makes a fair point, and obviously cares about the project and what has happened with it.

You realize it was Zack's idea to come out with the story, right?

“Here’s the thing, I never planned to make this public,” he says. “I thought it would just be in the family, a private matter, our private sorrow that we would deal with. When it became obvious that I need to take a break, I knew there would be narratives created on the internet. They’ll do what they do. The truth is … I’m past caring about that kind of thing now.”

This is entirely the fans' fault for postulating they were cryptic teases to a bigger surprise. Any sensible person would have taken those BTS shots at face value. A small rabid few who get mad/disappointed over something you never promised, are not worth addressing.

You had the chance to write an article that helped bring understanding to a movement about keeping the artistic integrity and creative freedom of future filmmmakers.

I understand however 1)I'd be surprised if some fans cared past JL about other properties and 2)how many movies are changed from the original intent of a book, script, idea? It's nothing new and greenlighting a Snyder Cut isn't going to change that.

You realize an announcement is made by a PR team, right? I work in classical music. I've had my booking agent write the answers to interviews for local newspapers the day before a recital while I was LITERALLY practicing in a basement.

Beats me. As a Snyder fan myself who wants a Snydercut, I can say that I wouldn't be hurt by Snyder making such a statement. I know this is silly, but sometimes I wish those hackers who spoil whole Game of Thrones episodes could "leak" the Snydercut a several years from now, thereby giving people space to calm down yet also freeing anyone of responsibility for its release Mr. Robot style.

As I said before - attention.

Seems like, and it's this kind of stuff that has created this problem in the first place. Film journalists and bloggers have been so manipulative and hostile, and because they are in a position as the "authority" or the "establishment," it fosters a sort of populist rebel spirit among people. Creating these types of tribes and camps is done on purpose because controversy is good for clicks. I know it's easy to mock and criticize fans, and some certainly deserve it, but ultimately most are coming from a place of love for characters, for what they see as art, and for who they see as a good-hearted artist. Meanwhile, their "opponents" come across as heartless and greedy.

My thoughts exactly.

Oy, we’re treading into conspiracy theorist territory here. If you’re going to refute all public knowledge as “it’s PR”, then everything is thrown into question.

I feel the same way.

At the moment WB has a reason to not release the Snyder cut, they don't want to draw more attention to Justice League in case if effects other DCEU films. But in a few years, the situation will be different. Aquaman, Shazam, WW84 etc will happen and the DCEU will succeed or fail, after which JL will have lost its power. Eventually WB will be willing to joke about JL the way they have with Green Lantern. That's when a Snyder cut might arrive.

WB were either going to release it alongside the theatrical DVD, or years later. When it didn't come out wit the DVD, I knew we were in for the long haul.

I want the Snyder Cut and I think I'll see it, just not for a long time. I'm hoping we get it before 2030.

No conspiracy theory. It's how it works. I'm telling you I work like that myself on a small scale. Now imagine a production company with a whole PR department for themselves. It's show business standard practice in both big and small fish. You're not going to to tell the damn journo "yeah, I practiced this piece 7 months instead of 2 because my octave technique sucks." Same with movies.

The words "snyder cut" should be banned from the internet. The whole thing is laughable. The movie was flop. The general public doesn't give a flip about any of this. It is just embarrassing all around. DC fans should just focus on things that are real and matter like the future of these properties and how to not have another critical flop and box office disappointment.
