The Kennedy Thread

there is a very excellent documentary called "the men who killed kennedy". it was originally a 9 part series show on TV in 88, and has been collected on a 2 disc dvd. but on the DVD, the last 3 episodes known as "the final chapter" have been left out. apparently they were pretty controversial in their implications.

i would suggest checking out the DVD then watching the "final chapter" on youtube:

Well hell, I want the last 3 chapters......

All that implies is that he Delgado was with Oswald, he wasn't very enthusiastic about shooting. It's unlikely that he had similar apathy in Dallas. That doesn't really downplay the fact that Oswald was a trained, highly accurate sniper - when motivated.

My understanding is that he scored slightly above the minimum requirement for mid level qualifications in the marines. In other words, he was basically an average sniper (just barely) by military standards. I'm not saying it's not possible he pulled it off all by himself. But the people that have pulled off what Oswald did are skilled marksmen that probably had far more training as marksmen than Oswald. The problem with Oswald is that there are so many fishy things about him and his past that really makes you wonder who he was connected to. The Warren Commission base their case off the idea that this communist sympathizer was the sole architect of the assassination but they ignore obviously shady things about his past that might indicate a conspiracy.

Again, Major Anderson told the Warren Commission that by military standards he was above average. He qualified as a sharp shooter in the Marines.

As interesting as the JFK assassination is, I doubt we will ever know the whole truth. The whole story has become a circus, with every crack pot imaginable putting in their two cents.

On one hand, while in the USSR, Oswald was reported to be a lousy shot who gladly accepted rabbits from other hunters. On the other, his brother recreated the shooting and matched the three bullets in 6 seconds. He insisted that if he could do it, Lee Harvey could do it. Also, I heard two years ago that there was a Cuban plot to kill Kennedy in Chicago one month before he was actually killed. So who knows, maybe Fidel had a hand in it and maybe not.

Sharp Shooter btw is the lowest Passing Score, for those that didn't know.

If there are three classes in the military, and Oswald barely qualifies for the second class how is that above average?

Ask Major Anderson:

I would say that as compared to other Marines receiving the same type of training, that Oswald was a good shot, somewhat better than or equal to--better than the average let us say

Yeah, I found this:

Even after weeks of practice and intensive training, Oswald barely managed to qualify at the level of "Sharpshooter," the middle of three rifle qualification levels in the Marines. He obtained a score of 212, two points above the minimum for the "Sharpshooter" level. In other words, even after extensive training and practice, and even though he was firing at stationary targets with a semi-automatic rifle and had plenty of time to shoot (even during the so-called "rapid-fire" phase), Oswald narrowly missed scoring at the lowest possible qualification level.

The next time Oswald fired for record in the Marines, he barely managed to qualify at all, obtaining a score of 191, which was one point above the minimum needed for the lowest qualification level, "Marksman."

That didn't really sound to me like he was an amazing shooter or anything.

Also, to be fair, there are witnesses that have outright said there are sworn confessionals in the Warren Commission that they had never even read before it was published, let alone wrote and signed. And other witnesses who said later they were lead into answering certain questions a certain way, or said their testimony was taken completely out of context.

Oswald tried to kill General Edwin A Walker while he was sitting at his desk. He missed him while he was sitting down and still. Now he shoots JKF while he's in a moving vehicle?

If you haven't seen JFK you have to watch it. While its not 100% true, it has an all-star cast, terrific John Williams score, makes you think and keeps you entertained.

Oliver Stone commentary on JFK assassination scene.

Not really. I knew he was assassinated in gunfire. I've seen the footage itself a thousand times. However, did I get all close up to the TV screen as a child and look for flying brain matter? No. :o

I had no idea that Jackie Kennedy had tried to put her husband's head back together. That little detail...just escaped me as a child.

Well, I've been a history nerd since 1st grade.....I was reading books like Johnny Tremain, and Molly Pitcher by 3rd grade....so, I was probably the kid pressed up against the TV screen watching the reruns of this.....
