The Last of Us is coming to PS4 in a "Remastered" edition, according to Sony's own advert on the Sony Entertainment Network Store. The banner, spotted on NeoGAF and verified by ourselves this morning, appears on the US storefront noting a $60 price tag and a "Day 1 Digital" release, although clicking it takes you to a broken link.

Sony has yet to formally announce the PS4 version of Naughty Dog's PS3 survival horror, although this is the second time it's let slip of a potential re-release. Sony Eurasia executive Sercan Sulun told CNN Turk last month that a PS4 version was on the way in the summer, with the Left Behind' DLC included. When we approached Sony about that, a representative told us, "At no time have we announced that The Last of Us is coming to PS4 and therefore, have nothing to say on the subject."

Unless whoever's in charge of Sony's US Store is playing the worst kind of joke, today's news is all but confirmation that a PS4 version is indeed on the way. I expect Sony will probably fill in the blanks in the near future, and it wouldn't be a surprise if what Sulun said last month proves to be accurate. We'll wait to hear more from Sony and will update this post with any further details that spill today.

Update #1: Sony has confirmed the existence of The Last of Us Remastered. "'SCEA can confirm The Last of Us Remastered is coming to PS4, and we'll be sharing more details with you shortly.'" - by SCEA PR team," wrote president of worldwide studios Shuhei Yoshida on Twitter.

Update #2: More details have been made available on The Last of Us Remastered, directly from Sony. The title is being brought to the new hardware by Naughty Dog. The title will include commentary over the cinematics by creative director and writer Neil Druckmann, voice actor Troy Baker (Joel), and voice actor Ashley Johnson (Ellie).
Those that pre-order will also get a number of bonuses, including 100 supply points for multiplayer, two skins each for Joel and Ellie, increased crafting and healing speed in single-player, increased reload speed in single-player for the 9mm, and increased clip capacity for the rifle. If you order digitally from the PlayStation Store, you'll also get the brawler survival skill, additional loadout points, and the Jeep cap and surgical mask, all of the multiplayer mode.

Here's the first trailer for the PS4 version of The Last of Us, known as The Last of Us: Remastered. It doesn't feature a lot of footage, but does give us a look at the new and improved Ellie and Joel. The game will clock in at full 1080p HD at 60 frames-per-second, and will also offer higher resolution character models, improved shadows and lighting, and upgraded textures. Along with the technical updates, players will also get the Left Behind story expansion, the Abandoned Territories and Reclaimed Territories multiplayer add-ons, and developer commentaries during the in-game cinematics featuring Creative Director and Writer Neil Druckmann and voice actors Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson. The Last of Us: Remastered will hit the PS4 this Summer.

I'm torn when it comes to these remastered games. I held off getting Tomb Raider as I thought it already looked great on PS3 and I feel the same about The Last of Us. Decisions decisions

Remastered games I look at as extended editions.. Or directors cut movies. TLoU seems to be adding some need extras as well as a beefy upgrade. They've been working on it since they finished the PS3 version so it's not like it's a quick money maker.

I'm not sure it's rough. Do you guys already have it? Trade your ps3 version in and it won't be 60 dollars. Don't have it? Ok.. If rather pay 60 for this game than 60 for tomb raider and this actually had some meat and potatoes to it..

It's the greatest game of last generation. Easily worth 60 dollars.
