The Last of Us

I'm actually kinda torn about one thing:

Naughty Dog is the only game developer that I really trust 110%. I know this will be an excellent game and it will be a first day purchase for me.

However, I would have liked Naughty Dog to make something entirely different from Uncharted. This game looks very much like Uncharted in both style and gameplay. I would have loved for something where you don't use guns but rather magic or something. A more charming game like their old Crash Bandicoot ones.

I see what you're saying, even if I think the tone and survival elements of the Last of Us distinguish it plenty from Uncharted. I would love to see ND apply their A+ animation/voice acting/art design/cinematic gameplay to something more fantasy or sci-fi oriented, where gunplay isn't a factor. We'll see what the future brings, but if Last of Us is a big hit, it sounds like it'll be a franchise... and ND isn't a big studio. They'd have to recruit an entirely new team to start a third IP.

Yeah those were some tense moments i seriously thought that a mutant creature thingy wouldd grap Ellie when Joel fell from the elevator

I detected a southern twang in Joel's voice in the new demo.

Yeah which is why i keep getting a total john marston vibe from him:

Exactly! :) If they'd go for something more magic based or something with the more warm, charming touch like their Crash Bandicoot games, we would have the most beautiful game ever made I'm pretty sure of. It would also be a nice change overall from the gunshooting formula.

Apparently, you come from the future, since you already played The Last of Us and know that no one commits suicide in this game. That people also aren't desperate enough to teach their children how to waste their life because their is no hope or the parents themselves doing it when their spawn is born. That you already know the full details of the story and that there is no cure or future for this world.

I wish I had a time machine like you do.
I bet you do

You can say the same thing to the others that say its like The road.

Jick all I was trying to say is that its that the Last of us has more hope than the Road.

Have you read the script of the game? Was it leaked anywhere that I'm not aware of? Did you play it and know the end of the characters or all of the disasters that has happened in this world?

No. You're just speculating. So far, it doesn't have more hope than the Road, because we don't know many of the details that we'd require to know something like that for sure.

I say that it has more hope because there are plantation and animals to eat. In the Road there is nothing to eat. If it makes you feel better I will just say that the trailers seem to have more hope than the road.

And how can we say that animals aren't infected? Or the plantations?
Once again, we don't know the details. Let's wait for the game, play it, then discuss about it.

I dont know I guess because the the girl is from a quarantine zone and the birds look healthy to me. I am just going to assume that its more survivable till I play the game.

This is one of the games I can't wait to get my hands on.
I graduated a video game design course this year and looking at this game is a reason why I want to be in this industry.
The characters and animations all using the game engine is utterly superb.

Anyone getting bored with them showing the same building level in the trailers?

Yeah, but I already decided to get the game, anyway. So I don't really care.

I wish this was coming out this year. *sigh

Maybe April? May?

Nope, I like some kind of surprise when I play a game.
The more that is released might ruin some good elements, alot of games (like films) give far too much away in trailers, that you don't get a good sense of what might be to come.

The Last of Us has quarantine zones (meaning enough humans and aspects of society have survived in order to build and maintain those zones), abundance of flora and fauna (regardless of their edibility), sun light, what appears to be normal weather. No nuclear fallout. Life, whatever it may be, is thriving. Humans not so much, but if nature can sustain itself so well, the chance that human beings could reemerge from this catastrophe is higher.

In The Road, everything is dead. Everything. There are no quarantine zones, no pockets of humanity with any amount of pre-event sane societal structure. There is no sunlight. No warm summer days. Everything is cold, dark, dead and covered in ash and fog.

From a psychological standpoint, one of those situations would breed more "hope" than the other. But just because there might be room for more hope in a person's mind doesn't mean the situation is any less dire, nor the risk any less great. In fact, a person having hope is even more dramatic here, since there is something left to lose.

Once again, we don't know the details. Let's wait for the game, play it, then discuss about it.

Why can't he talk about it? Why does it bother you if people discuss what they feel or think about what we've seen so far? What's the point of this thread, hell this entire forum if people should listen to you and keep their mouths shut until the game comes out?
