Both of these guys just need to accept the fact this movie was mind numbingly terrible
I haven't seen the movie yet but I don't think they are that wide of the mark saying there was an agenda against the film, you just have to look back in this thread to see articles about the production costs that already had this pegged to be the whooping boy of summer 2013 as far back as last year.
How much this actually affected people's choice not to see the movie is impossible to determine though, but it's a solid argument for Depp and co to hang their (Cowboy)hat on.
I think they need to stop telling the public how much these movies cost. It isn't anyone but the shareholders' business if they make money or not.
I'm still in the mindset that Depp should've played the Lone Ranger and a real Native American should've played Tonto.
It's sad to think that you'll see CG aliens or giant robots more often than a Native American actor leading a film.

fans need to stop to care about the budgets. they need to stop acting like they make a profit or like they lose money from those blockbusters.
Whether or not I agree with them, I love Depp and Hammer's statements. Far too often do cast/crew get overly apologetic for their work when they don't always need to. Go down swinging. Get all piss and vinegar with your critics. I love it.![]()
I think Hammer has just screwed himself from getting good work in the near future. Someone like Depp could get away with it.

Especially since he just pooped on Batman by saying "I don't really like superhero movies." - Those are pretty much the only movies they're making nowadays... What other roles are you aiming for?
I'm telling you... This guy is the new Taylor Kitsch. Buh-bye.

But is pointing the finger at the critics the right thing to do? There are ways they could have defended their work without pointing the finger. They could have been proud in their work, and express disappointment that the movie wasn't a bigger box office success.
Sure, they were honest, but they come off as whiny and somewhat petty.
