It's not a rumor. It's confirmed.

They could easy be brothers, for however old havok was in FC which wasn't really said so 16 to 18 to be kind then we will be late 30s and it works fine to say their mother had scott at a more mature age depending on how young she was when she had alex which could be seen as taboo in hollywood since you could say she could have had alex at 16

Either way they both have the same surename and very similar powers and now they are in the same movie... you are gonna have to acknowledge it

as for saying havok is cyclops father... i'd imagine it would been better not to have havok involved if that was the case since there may be a backlash because of it so we will see

Sure, it could be 38 or 39 years old against Scott's 18, but still, the point is that the age gap is pretty large. Just not sure that that will work.

It's actually a strong possibility that they will just not make them brothers at all, or even acknowledge anything. He was credited as being Alex Summers in First CLass, so it's difficult to believe that they would totally ignore it though. But a quick comment by either, or Chuck, or Mystique, could solve the problem. It could simply be Scott saying something like "My Cousin Alex used to live here", or Professor X saying "I knew your Uncle Alex. He was one of the first mutants I trained". That would be all that is needed to move forward.

Man, how I hate that they put Alex in First Class!!!!!

Playing devil's advocate for a second. Was it ever mentioned that he's Alex *Summers*? (Maybe the voiceover of the prison warden in FC did say his last name). If they didn't that could be their "out" to not connect the brothers.
And break the internet.

It was listed in the credits.

Sure, that could be retcon'd, as could whether or not the last name was mentioned, which I believe it was!

Man, they really screwed up putting Alex in 1962! So many other characters could have been used there!

yep the name was mentioned and the powers being red was likely another hint to the relation

How the hell is Till gunna play 20 years older??
aging makeup always looks bad
plus, he's just a really terrible actor, and a horrible Alex

I wish DOFP had retconned FC out like it did X3

It's been previously mentioned by Brian Singer that Alex and Scott aren't brothers in the Movieverse, and although it's been hinted that there's still a familial relationship of some kind (other than a sibling one) between the two characters, there's nothing currently out there that mandates there being any sort of connection between them at all other than the similarities in their powers.

And the name!!!!!

And the name!!!!!

Two people with the same surname don't automatically have to be related to one another.

Case in point: I went to school with two people that share my surname, but have absolutely no familial connection to me whatsoever.

i think there will be a little backlash if he ain't cyclops brother so whether singer will be daring enough to just not care and stick to his own vision then he probably shouldn't have included havok at all so the relation could be left to the imagination

^ As I noted, Singer already unequivocally stated that they're not brothers in the Movieverse years ago (back in 2011, to be exact).

What he said was

“Yes, the timeline is different,” Singer said. “It wouldn’t physically fit for him to be the brother of Cyclops. We take some liberties on that. There are notions, but, um, I don’t want to give away certain interrelations, but let’s just say there are some things that do adhere to the comic books and do so in a way the fans will get a kick out of. And those things can, perhaps, move forward into the future….

its possible singer has worked out something since 2011, otherwise perhaps they shouldn't be including havok at all and left it to the imagination

But, saying they are not brothers is very different than saying they are not related.

In fact, saying specifically they are not brothers could almost imply that they are indeed related, which would make Papa Havok or Uncle Havok the most likely scenerios!

Or also that Singer has changed his mind. He tends to do that.

i'd argue if their mother had havok at 16 then she could have had scott at 39 to 40 so its not out of bounds in realism but could be a little taboo to say she had a baby as a teen and another as a more mature women

i don't see a problem personally though

If Havok isn't Scott's little brother, then your character isn't Havok, sorry :o

Well, since Havok will be around 40 in 1983, and Scott is expected to be like 18, well, Alex will not be Scott's younger brother... period!

exactly
so they shouldn't have called him Alex Summers/Havok at all
he shouldve just been some random mutant, cuz that's basically what they've created

and I knew I avoided the ultimate line for a reason, lol

Many people have brothers and sisters with a 20 year gap. Easily plausible
