I watched the Extended Version DVD today and I LOVED the opening credits. It was on par in my opinion with Spiderman and X-Men movies opening credits.
The only reason I can think of why it was cut is because it basically shows the whole movie. So it may seemed redundant, however if they wanted to use the opening credits from the Extended Edition for FF2:RotSS then that would be great because it kinda recaps the original movie kinda like the opening credits in Spiderman 3 recapped the first two movies.
Oh, I thought the Extended Edition movie was far better than the theatrical cut. The characters seemed more fleshed out, more funny moments and less awkwardness from having scenes cut out. The flow of the story was better. Watching the EE proved that Tim Story didn't do a bad job now maybe FOX will give him more control in the sequel but I still can't shake that maybe they are still controlling things because of the movie running time and the PG rating (not that I have any problems with that). The Incredibles and National Treasure were great PG rated action adventure movies.
