The Marvel Implosion

I'd love to see a short yet new Ditko Spider-Man story... maybe a short one... 6 pages...

As a 90's kid, I would completely lose my s*** if Marvel got those guys to come back for that issue. I would KILL to see Mcfarlane draw Spidey again. But let's face reality, thats never ever going to happen again. Maybe, maybe in the distant future when ASm#1000 rolls around we'll see Mcfarlane and Larsen but not anytime soon. But hey, JRJR and Bags is not out of the realm of possibility at least.

I don't think it's that impossible. I've never heard of McFarlane vowing to never work with Marvel again or anything. In a book like that (#700) with multiple artists, he would only have to draw about 7-10 pages.

Now, Jim Lee returning to X-Men is something we'll never see again now that he's big time at DC.

Question guys, I know some of you know sales figures and such, but I've been really enjoying Rucka's run on the Punisher, so I just wanted to know how in danger it is for being next on the chopping block? :(

It's hovering around 22K right now. The only thing below it that's not been cancelled is the Thunderbolts, which is about to get made over into Dark Avengers.

Other books in the same sales range as the Punisher are Avengers Academy, Moon Knight (which maybe cancelled/not sure), Hulk, Journey into Mystery and New Mutants. Academy may have some leeway since it's part of a franchise about to have a movie debut.

PunisherMAX was already cancelled so does Marvel want to go through another period without at least one Punisher title?

It breaks my heart that books like Punisher and Daredevil and Moon Knight and Avenger Academy are not being read by anyone. And people wonder why there are so many Avengers and Xmen books, they pretty much have no choice.

I read Avengers Academy and JiM. :o

I tried Punisher for the first couple issues, but couldn't get into it.

Punisher's been more of a slow burn, but I've gotten really interested in it as of the last couple issues. Rachel Cole-Alves is shaping up to be an intriguing foil for Frank. The detectives have also gotten more interesting since the older detective took the lead.

I don't understand Marvel at all sometimes. I know it boils down to money, but are comics making any money for them anymore?

I really am liking Rachel, at first when I thought of her joining up with Frank, I got a bit worried, but I'm already picturing her getting her own outfit and being a practically permanent part of his mythos now. (how realistic this idea is, I don't know, nor do I care. Rucka has been doing a lot to add to Frank, and I think this is pretty much my favorite incarnation)

What's been an odd slow burn for me is Hulk. It's got some interesting ideas (especially Banner's fall), but I dunno, the arc has been really slow, and I'm not getting the payoffs that I would like. I kinda like the art, but at times it's really inconsistent; especially with Banner. At times it looks like a more disheveled version of the ol' Bruce we love, but then in another panel, he'll look older, sharper featured and just plain off. :/

Has Deadpool's main book been cancelled yet? Or has Way been kicked off it? I'm sure i saw somewhere that it's below 20k. Goes to show what over exposure can do to a character. Wasn't the main book selling like, 60k a month for the first year or so?

I hope it gets cancelled and relaunched so I can start reading Deadpool again.

Deadpool's book is currently above 25k last time I checked. The other Deadpool books tanked though.

It's alright. DC pissed off Waid and Rucka. They even out their piss-off meter.

I don't know, i remember he signed a DC exclusive right after Annihilation.

I'm pretty sure Marvel Pissed off Busiek, Starlin and Perez. I know we'll never see Marv Wolfman again.

Busiek recently came back and did a few things.

He doesn't really do much of anything for either of the big two directly anyway. He's mostly focused on creator-owned work and reviving the forgotten Kirby creations over at Dynamite.

I miss readin' Pool, but nope, its still there and Way's got a stranglehold on Wade still. He's got "BIG PLANS" for Wade in coming months so, my hope of him being kicked off the book and then having the next artist pull the "it was all a dream because of some bad take out and a crazy mission with X-force" retcon. And seriously, no more FREAKIN' WHITEBOXES and "WE"!! Wade isn't a symbiote and he doesn't need to "playoff" an internal voice for his humour to work.

Man, his cameo in Battle Scars had him waaaaaay better handled; it felt like old times for a brief second.... :csad: It was summer in the 90s and I was walking into my favorite comic shop... :argh: Loeeeee- wait....wrong person.... Quesad- dang it... gimmie a second. Ahem. WAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaAAAaaaaay!!! :argh:

I think the only Deadpool book i've read in the last 5 or so years was MAX. Which was excellent. But then it got cancelled

Noooooooooooooooo! Never say NEVAH! :o

Well, it could happen if Quesada ever leaves, and DC lifts their ban on Marvel/DC crossovers.

Any particular reason for that ban?

Quesada likes(liked?) to run his mouth. I don't know the particulars either, but I believe it had something to do with Quesada talking smack and Paul Levitz getting pissed off. This was back when Brubaker was at DC and Bendis was writing Daredevil and there was a planned Batman/Daredevil cross-over. Quesada was more or less the reason it didn't happen.

Someone feel free to correct me.
