The Marvel Implosion

Go take a look at Bendis' Facebook page. Every time he releases Avengers promo stuff, the masses love it and eat that s**t up.

I'm actually scared of what will happen when Bendis leaves. I hate a good 80% of what he's done with the Avengers, but the franchise as a whole is healthier than it's been in like a decade. I don't know how big a hand Bendis personally has in that, but he's certainly got something to do with it. I'd really hate to see the franchise fall on hard times again after he leaves.

His sales are exactly the same as Busiek's were at the height of the Kang Dynasty.

But the market as a whole is worse, so proportionately, they're a bit better. Plus, there are like 4 other Avengers titles in the line now, whereas Busiek only had Avengers. Granted, I know the latter point has more to do with the higher-ups and their promotion of the Avengers as their central franchise. Back in Busiek's day, it was just another comic.

If I was Marvel the only way to do Avengers after Bendis is to go back to its roots...big budget action with characterization. Reach out to Perez and have him do art with Alex Ross covers.

My personal wish is for Mark Waid to write Avengers after Bendis leaves and for New Avengers to just go away or become West Coast Avengers or something. There's nothing "new" about it anymore and it was basically Bendis' signature spin on the Avengers franchise, so it feels like it should end with his departure.

Mark Waid/George Perez Avengers is a license to print money.

I'm going to sound like a DF for saying this, but I don't always like George Perez. Every comic he draws is always SO wordy. :o

i've banned you from the cool posters club:woot:

If you can tell me what DF means, I'll willingly resign. :o

Perez may be too old to deal with drawing a monthly. He could help with the launch for 6 issues or so but Marvel has very capable artists in their stable making it unnecessary anyway. Now Perez on cover duty........

Perez is pretty hit and miss for me, too. And before it's said, I think Darthphere banned me from the cool posters club years ago :D

Despite how much I've argued with him over the years regarding Spidey, I think Slott would be amazing on Avengers. His Mighty Avengers was good with 3rd string characters and if you give him the A-listers and the ability to write top-leveled threats I think you'd have a good thing going. He's wrapping up the ongoing plots on Spidey with Doc Ock and all that, he's built up a lot of cred on Amazing Spider-Man... now could be a good time for him to make an even bigger move.

I think Dan's got a lot left in the tank as far as Spidey goes. I agree that he could take titles like Avengers and FF and totally knock it out of the park.

Dumb F***

:D

Even if it's not then that's how I'll think of you for now on anyway.

You can be my DFF.... Dumb F*** Forever :)
Wow, you got it, and you're not even in the cool club (due to not reading Bulletproof Coffin. :o).

I think your mom's cool. ;)

;);)

I'm in a cool club all of my own. I like to call this club "the cool club for people with eccentric tastes in comics."

Requirements:

Like the Draco
Like the Other
Like Sins Past
Like Bendis
Dislike OMD/BND

No one else seems to fit into my club :(

My double feature for tonight was The Muppets and The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.

Tomorrow night? The Care Bears Movie and Ichi The Killer. :o

I could easily see Slott stay on Spidey for another 3 to 5 years. In fact, I'd probably prefer that. :oldrazz:
