The Marvel Implosion

It was just Jonah Hex for me. I don't know what it was about that book. I loved it every time I actually sat down and read and issue, but it was so hard getting to that point. :o

The most I'd ever get behind with other books was a few months...which would actually be kinda cool, cause then I could read almost an entire arc in one sitting.

Sad news about T-bolts..the book is still very good...but let's be honest..

The Line up is terrible...

The current concept is terrible....

and the book needs to be reworked, plain and simple.

And please please , ban Luke Cage from appearing in this book.

Here's an idea....Wonder Man?

I have a nice 7 year run of some books that will be a pleasure to get caught up with... :yay:

:csad:

Oh, I've stopped reading the titles I didn't like anymore. I'm just genuinely frustrated at the concept of buying overpriced, gimmicky comics (mostly Marvel), but after buying them 20 years it's hard to just stop.

I'm having the same problem sort of. My problem is that I'm worried I'll drop a title I've been following forever, then one day it'll get good again, and I'll want to buy all the back issues to catch up again.

But I'm lucky since my titles are currently doing great (IMO).

I'm honestly shocked that people actually buy books, and then don't read them. And then do that for years. Thats some crazy s***.

I know people that are like 5 to 6 years behind on their reading but still get current books. One guy gets his comics and looks through them real quick, stuffs them in a box and then will eventually read them at SOME point in his life.

Some people just have a lot of stuff going on they don't have the time to keep up with their titles but they still want to be buying them and supporting them.

I could never do that. The only title I'm buying that has taken a huge dive lately is Deadpool. I'm just waiting for Way to get off the book.

Marvel's imploding, eh? That's too bad. Honestly, I quit reading Marvel regularly after OMD. I read Spider-Girl until that got canned and the only official Marvel comics I've picked up in the last few years has been "The Death of Spider-Man" arc in USM and the Ultimates relaunch....but I've fallen behind that too. :(

Oh well. I'm sure Marvel will survive as long as they pump out blockbusters like The Avengers. At this point, Marvel is becoming as static as DC, so I see them doing the "New 52" reboot very soon.

Yeah, OMD was responsible for my decision to only buy tpbs. I can usually get them significantly discounted on sale, and that way I don't waste $3-4 per issue just to find out by the end that the story arc sucked. But, again, smooth move with OMD Marvel.

From what was said In Avengers #24...

The Thunderbolts may be:

Some remains of HAMMER/ Norman Osborn guys ..which could include Revengers

Wait...how is the book very good but has a terrible line up and concept?

Don't agree with anything you said here except the possibility of Wonder Man being a member. Definitely don't want to see Cage leave...this is the only good book he's in.

Thunderbolts will become Dark Avengers with issue #175. Written by Jeff Parker.

For all that they could have just did a Dark Avengers #1. It would sell better and and the last volume was only 12 issues. I swear, when it comes to rebooting to a #1, Marvel does it when it's not necessary and doesn't do it when it actually makes some sense.

Agreed. I don't see this Dark Avengers book doing all that well with the way Marvel is handling it.

It's a bad Lineup for sales. It's not a very original arc with the time jumping and whole raft concept...i don't really dig it and generally think they are both terrible.

The writing, dialogue, paneling and art, etc.. are all very good, and thats different than the concept and lineup (team lineup, not creative team).

That being said I've supported the book as an outlet for lesser used characters who I want to know more about..and because I'm a blue blood blind T-bolts supporter for all the years of quality stories.

The book was always a 3rd party to Avengers and X-men, I don't have a problem with bringing in a classic avenger to serve some role, ala Hawkeye, but Luke Cage is too overexposed. I'm tired of him and how badass he thinks he is.

Changing the book to Dark Avengers is a cancellation, plain and simple. This book has run for what, 15 years? Very Sad.

Dark Avengers is a weaker concept..and it had it's day and was somewhat interesting but the T-bolts need a voice.

I was really hoping for a return to the original lineup....

Instead , now we get a Defacto splinter Avengers book...which was never what T_bolts was or stood for.

I've seen a few people say that about Cage, but the only books he's in as far as I know are New Avengers and Thunderbolts

Hawkeye on the other hand: Avengers, Secret Avengers, Avengers Academy, just had a Solo Avengers mini, had a short lived series with Mockingbird a year or so ago, then a couple follow up minis to that series, a recent Ultimates mini...and now Avengers Assemble.

No..its not..your talking to a guy with a freaking Night Thrasher Avatar here...

..he's a bad , simple, character....he doesn't wear a costume, he's always angry and cliche...he's been shoved in our face for over 10 years since Alias. He's the kind of character a scared white guy like Bendis falls in love with becuase he reminds him of Dolemite movies he watched stoned in college.

Hawkeye was dead for half of the last decade...before that he had a major role in AWC/WCA.(1 of 3 avengers books at that time..if you count the original solo avengers) He's got a lot going lately, but he's been nowhere near as exposed as Cage.

At any rate, what we are talking about is comparing the period Hawkeye took over the T-bolts, as opposed to when Cage did..and it is simply apples and oranges.

Hawkeye was basically an after thought of a major avenger till he was killed by Bendis. Hawkeye's tenure as a T-bolt was an effort to get a fringe guy a spotlight role.

If your talking black characters, I'd love to see the MANY good black characters that are not being used in Marvel Lore more props...

It's a cancellation if they don't do it. The book is now selling less than 20,000 copies per month. A desparate move like this is what it needs.

This isn't the first time this has happened. In Thunderbolts #75 all of the main characters were written out of the book and starting with #76 they went in a completely different direction involving underground superhero fightclubs. It was cancelled after 6 issues. They relaunched the book with a new #1 two years later in 2005 on the heels of Avengers Disassembled, calling it T-Bolts Reassembled. It was another year before they reverted to the original numbering.

I'm telling you now, this is going to be the same exact thing.

That storyline basically did ME in with Spider-Man as well, although it was a while after that i actually just stopped alltogether. As a few others have stated, walking away after a lifetime of collecting is not easy at first. Now...i don't even miss it.

Sarcasm achieved.

Eh, Luke Cage is pretty awesome, despite Bendis.

didnt they switch back to the old numbering though?, i remember the changes in the book..and the failure of fightbolts, but i don't recall a 2 year lull.
