the massive plothole thread

batman begins

scarecrow takes rachael down to the basement, reveals his entire plan and then gasses her. WHY?

he could have gassed her upstairs.
he could have gassed her in the elevator.
he could have gassed her in any room in arkham.

why reveal your plan?

-----

scarecrow is in the house to destroy the evidence of the teddy bears with fear toxin inside. scarecrow's thugs release gas and put paraffin (oil) over everything as an excellerant for the eventual explosion.
scarecrow sets batman on fire, the building doesn't explode as well, WHY?

I think that was just Cranes way of bragging about how smart/powerful he was. We know that Carmine already told him Rachel was snooping around, so he wanted to get rid of her. Afterwords, he gasses Carmine(who is a very powerful man in Gotham), cause he thinks he's unstoppable working with Ras.

Basically, it was Cranes way of being cocky....which he was.:cwink:

Well, I don't think the building would explode, but it would catch fire. Who's to say it didn't?

SM3 (is riddled with holes) but here is a new one

spidey throws a pumpkin bomb which utterly ATOMIZES venom, yet earlier peter throws a pumpkin bomb which explodes in harry's face and mearly scars him (harry).

where's the consistency?

It's an incendiary pumpkin which explodes to a fireball, maybe?

The symbiote is vulnerable to fire and sonics in the books... That's how it fit to me.

I just turn off my brain when I watch SM3...which isn't often anyways.

post the biggest plothole you've seen in a movie.

I'll start;

T2
the t-1-000 stabs sarah conner's shoulder and tells her to 'call to john' entending its finger to show her he will kill her is she doesn't comply, yet earlier in the movie the rules are clearly established that the t-1000 samples anything it has physical contact with and then it destroys the original.

the t-1000 was touching sarah and thus didn't need her to call john as it could have done it itself. it could (and should) have killed sarah and called john.
T-1000 was tricked before by John (T-800 using John's voice and ask about Max/Wolfie). Therefor it tried to use a real person to call to John.

Not a plothole.

This isn't a plot hole, it's poor judgment. People do more risky things in real life.

scarecrow is in the house to destroy the evidence of the teddy bears with fear toxin inside. scarecrow's thugs release gas and put paraffin (oil) over everything as an excellerant for the eventual explosion.

I'm not sure about the science on this, but even if you're right it's not a plot hole, it's bad science.

A plot hole is a detail in a movie that compromises the plot or premise of the movie. For example, in Transformers 2, the decepticons use a piece of the Allspark to bring Megatron back to life. Sam also has a piece of the allspark; but when Optimus Prime dies he needs the Matrix of Leadership to bring him back to life? Why couldn't he just use the Allspark?

That contradicts the entire premise of the movie.

In Spidey 1...GG throws pumpkin bombs that disentigrate things AND pumpkin bombs that explode.

He just has a bunch of different types of pumpkin bombs

He has them with batknives too. Nasty little buggers.

King Kong.

There's no bananas big enough.

And he would also make Ann Darrow explode when he took her back to the 'ole cave.

How? You been watching the x-rated version, King Dong?

Here's one :

Home Alone 4. Kevin manages to de-age himself, Buzz, and Megan, make Marv French Stewart look like Harry, and his two older siblings disappear.

Aaah, what the hell, the movie is crap to begin with anyways. The only good ones were the first two. Well...HA3 is so-okay-it's-average.

^Ha, I didn't even know there was a HA4.

I guess you never "gave up", and were "thirsty for some more" Home Alone movies.:oldrazz:

Not so much a plot hole, but a head scratcher: In the original Halloween movie, the morning after Michael Myers has escaped and returned to Haddonfield, we see him wearing his white mask all day while stalking Laurie on her way to school, watching her in her classroom during school, and following her and her friends home after school etc.

Then Laurie arranges to be collected later that evening to go babysitting with with her friend. So I think we'd all agree that several hours have passed since the morning and now, right?

So why is it that on their way to going babysitting, Laurie and Annie stop by the Hardware store where the Sheriff is, because the alarm on the store is going off because someone apparently broke in and stole a Halloween mask and a couple of knives.

Since we know Michael had the mask since this morning, why the hell are the Cops only responding to the shop alarm now?

here is a good one Maximum Overdrive, in the movie a supposed 'rouge comet' tail surrounds earth turning all the machines and devices into homicidal maniacs. from airplanes, to steamrollers (that poor kid), ice cream trucks, to semi trucks. but the only thing that seems to be 100% NOT affected by this 'event' is cars! I mean characters are driving in or riding in them but not one of them takes over and flies off the road into a tree or off a cliff. i mean there is one scene where the boy is biking through a neighborhood and you see a pizza delivery car crashed into a tree with the driver's head hanging bloody out the window, but that is like the ONLY time a car has killed somebody (and you don't even SEE IT!).

Surely someone has mentioned the fact that if Gandalf had those Eagles all the time why didn't he just fly over Mount Doom and drop the Ring in the lava himself?

:doom: :doom: :doom:

the eye of sauron would have shot the eagles out of the sky

If I remember right from the books...the eagles were very independant...they only helped him when they wanted to...he didn't control them.

batman begins

batman's throwing stars knock out the bad guys at the dock. surely the only way they would be knocked out would be bleeding to death or is batman actually killing the bad guys rather than knocking them out?
