'The Matrix' Reboot

WB also has a semi-successful continuation of the Harry Potter franchise. But rebooted franchises are a thing right now so they can't resist trying to resurrect one that isn't even quite 20 years old yet.

Nah.

Only way to get me interested is with the involvement of Keanu Reeves and the Wachowskis.

I haven't read back through the thread for this, but this really is a terrible idea. Some things are better left alone, we already had to suffer two awful sequels.

Bring back Keanu as a God-like Neo or no deal.

The other day i was thinking exactly this, that a Matrix remake would be made sooner or later.
I haven't watched the original for quite a few years, but i watched it plenty back in the days to remember it plenty, and it's a freaking classic.
I believe i never watched the sequels more than once, in the theaters.

I'm all for a black actor as Neo since the original was going to be played by Will Smith. Only when Smith turned it down did they went with Keanu Reeves.
But Michael B. Jordan......c'mon, the man is overexposed as it is.

I would like to see Damon Wayans Jr making the jump to the big screen in a non-comedy role.

If they formed a new character and just set it in the world of the Matrix (without acknowledging the major players in the previous films), it might work. Something like what The Animatrix did.

How? He hasn't had a movie released since 2015, when he had two major movies released. Prior to that he hadn't had a movie released since 2013. He isn't in another movie until 2018 at the earliest with BLACK PANTHER.

Reboot is a mistake. Just make another film in the established continuity.

Rebooting would be stupid in my eyes. However a 4th movie set within the same universe as the original trilogy would have my interest.

Get Keane to cameo. It was heavily implied at the end of the 3rd that the peace Neo died for wouldn't last.

I feel that the people and studio behind this as far as we know, wouldn't make a film that's up to snuff and thus, a waste.

So any fancast for Agent Smith? I think Corey Stoll would be a good choice

I like that idea more , then you can get away with a newer look , new characters and ideas.

Michael B Jordan could be the new "chosen one" and you could have the resistance thinking he is Neo, from the original films re-incarnate.

Actually not going to dismiss this. I've been waiting for another round into this amazing universe.

Will wait to judge until I hear of the director.

If its Michael B.Jordan and Ryan Coogler again I'd be interested..

I actually think the title The Matrix: Reboot seems so obvious that they might as well call it that.

The more I read about the world of The Matrix, the more I'm totally down with a CONTINUATION of the story. Either retell the Second Machine War from the online game (with whatever changes you'd need) OR accept that and the Neil Gaiman story as official and go even further into the future. One thing I think you absolutely can not, must not do is tell the same story again about some new One waking up. I'd be fine with them trying to put the bytes of Neo back together (which, would actually be a bit like The Force Awakens in that the quest of the movie is to "find" the hero from the original trilogy) but I think you need to figure out a new take on the concept and how to defeat them. It should be CLEAR to viewers that this is not just another cycle that will be repeated again and again...but THE war to break The Matrix. If you have to build into that war for a few movies, then great...do so.

Which as a Marvel villain will probably be just a small role if anything.

lol at being overexposed.

as long as it erases the first three dreadful films out of existence and maybe makes something interesting with the premise for a change, hmm, why not?

The first one is a bonafide sci-fi classic. What the frick are you talking about?
