Arrow The Matt Ryan/ John Constantine thread

Since this thread was posted 30 minutes after my question and the first response was glib sarcasm, I'll repeat my question here:

Any fans of the show Constantine want to fill me in what it was about and what happened with it so far? Do we think they'll treat it as a shared universe or just reuse the actor and character?

Proof that anything is possible no matter how bleak things may seem!:yay:

Nothing substantial happened in the show from what I can remember. Matt Ryan was definitely a highlight though, and I'm extremely pleased to see him returning to the role.

Basically Constantine travelled across the U.S. investigating supernatural occurences that where connected to a larger conspiracy.

There was nothing on Constantine that contradicts anything that happened on Arrow or The Flash.

The Constantine episode "A Feast of Friends" is one of the best direct TV adaptations of its source material to date

Great news!, I wonder if it just is for one apperance as Guggenheim says?

Maybe its like the Deadshot situation? WB has hired Josh Trank to do Justice League Dark with Michael B Jordan as Constantine ? ;)

So happy he is coming to Arrow, loved the Constantine show and I hope its not a one time occurrence like they are saying.

This is genuinely the first Season 4 news that gets me excited.

so i'm guessing i should just skip season 3 of arrow ?

Always happy to get more Matt Ryan Constantine. I'm wayyyy behind on Arrow, but I'll catch up, faster now that I've got eyes on the prize.

Hopefully this means more people will check out the Constantine show as well.

agreed. the show simply deserved more than a first season. it needed a chance to grow ( which it was doing by the second half of the show )

Yes. Yes we do.
In terms of whether we should assume that this is firmly considered the same version of Constantine from his own series (and thus retroactively linking the Constantine series to the Arrow-verse), Mericle said, “Absolutely. He is coming in fully as who he was on the show. We’re getting wardrobe. We’re very excited to have him. He’s a tremendous actor. It’s so cool to have that cross-pollination. We are very lucky and DC was very generous letting us have him.”

If it's possible I want Jim Corrigan to show up as well.:sly:

Definitely. That was one thing in particular that irked me about the show's demise, that we wouldn't get to see the Specter appearance that was hinted at. I'm a little more hopeful about it now that they've opened the magic door.

IGN is reporting that he's involved in bringing back Sara.

I don't know. From the LoT trailer it's hinted at that it's a Lazarus pit. I suppose it's possible they've changed their minds about that. Who knows?

The premise that the "Flarrow"-verse is operating on (which was revealed by Stephen Amell several months ago) is that this version of Constantine is an expert on Lazarus Pits, hence why he'd be brought in to help resurrect someone using one.

That is an interesting idea, I like it. I am looking forward to Constantine's appearance.

In case people want to see them for themselves, here are Amell's comments re: Constantine from several months ago:
"There is an opportunity for interconnectivity with any DC television show that exists. Like, as an example, yesterday Constantine was cancelled. I know, it’s brutal… It’s a good show, and it should come back. And it may come back, like there are various platforms where it could come back.”

"Constantine is an NBC show, I’m on the CW. I had discussions with DC Comics -- not NBC or the CW -- DC Entertainment about guest starring on Constantine when it was on the air. That was and is on the table."

"The reason that I was going to guest star on Constantine, at least the idea that we were throwing around, was [Constantine's] an expert when it comes to the Lazarus Pit, which is now something that is a part of, and will continue to be a part of, Arrow."

I hope that if Legends of Tomorrow gets renewed, the second season can center around the fallen with Constantine acting as reluctant leader to a group of mystical heroes. They can have Deadman, Spectre, Zatanna and Madame Xanadu. A kind loose adaptation of Justice League Dark.

I hope they change their stance on the one-off approach to the character. I wouldn't mind him making a annual appearance.

He definitely needs to appear on Legends of Tomorrow. I wouldn't be thrilled if he got multiple appearances on Arrow.
