Bobby Jindal would be interesting, but unlikely. He would appease the conservative base and allow McCain to move more towards the middle. He would offset Obama or Clinton's minority card. He is young and energetic. He would definitely be a good choice for McCain, but I doubt McCain would select him.

Hypothetically: Would voting for McCain still be your solution if he tapped Jindal?

Who will be McCain's running mate? Vote!! Because we all LOOOOVEE POLLS!

PENSACOLA, Florida (Reuters) - Republican presidential candidate John McCain said on Wednesday he has begun a list of potential vice presidential running mates -- a decision he quipped was especially big "given my age."

McCain, 71, said his search is in the "embryonic stage" but that he has a list of about 20 names and has talked to a couple of people about leading his vice presidential search team.

I'm thinking if Ron Paul drops out, he will be his vice-president. I think McCain tends to know that Paul has better knowledge of the economy than he does.

I don't care, I just want to see more of his wife.

Never in a million years. Paul's way too far out on the fringe.

And why do you "think McCain tends to know that Paul has better knowledge of the economy than he does"? I haven't heard him make such a statement.

I'm hoping for Huckabee, mostly because of the FairTax, which would wonderful for the economy. Which is what McCain needs. I believe that Huckabee has the presence and the Executive Experience from being Governor, and he was extremely successful while doing so, cutting the spending from 35th most taxed state in the union to 44th most taxed state. Which is great for the National Debt and the economy. I would fully support a McCain/Huckabee ticket.

First things first: It's HUTCHISON, not 'Hutchinson.'

Anyway, I feel Kay Bailey Hutchison has a good shot, unless she decides to run for Governor of Texas instead. Otherwise, I'd say he's likely to pick someone like John Thune, John Sununu, Jon Huntsman Jr., or some other young conservative.

Whoever is his VP is going to wind up President because I honestly don't expect McCain to survive the first two years of his Presidency without having a horrible stroke or heart attack if he gets elected. The stress is going to eat him alive.

The stress/pace of the campaign is ideal to weed out this problem. If he's still alive, I suspect he will be by January of 2013.

If he were a younger man, I might agree with you. He'll be 72 when he takes office if he wins. He'll have the stress of a f**ked up economy and a total mess in the Middle East breathing down his neck. Stressopolis, baby. Far more stressful than driving around the country in a bus and telling people the story of his life.

Voted for Pawlenty. Granted, he likely wont deliver Minnessota, but I think the reasoning is simple. Him and McCain have been friends for over 20 years, he endorsed him early on, and stuck by McCain when his campaign was considered dead. Since John McCain is said to be someone who values loyalty, Pawlenty is going to be someone who has an advantage over everyone else.

I think it will be Charlie Crist.

Palin would be the best choice. I don't see how McCain can't pick a young, conservative, energetic, minority with a history of fiscal responsibilty who will basically represent the future of the party.

Giuliani wants it, no matter what he says...

I like J.C. Watts very much, but not sure he would say yes.....

I honestly thought that Kay Bailey was going to be much more prominent in this election with the positioning of her speech at the Republican Convention in 2004. I really thought they were prepping her for something in this election. She is a friend of my mom's, so I'm a little biased when it comes to her.....so I'll stay out of that debate...lol

It could be anyone. I doubt he would choose anyone who is not for Bush.

Why not?

He fought Bush all 8 years of his office.....you don't think he might choose someone that is not totally tied to Bush?.....I think he might do exactly that....choose someone outside of Washington.....outside of the Bush Administration....

He had to cop to the Conservative base to get the Candidacy......he doesn't have to do that to get the Presidency.....he has to get the Independent vote.......

I doubt it will be Giuliani. But he's pretty much guaranteed a spot in McCain's Cabinet as Attorney General.

It won't be Huckabee or Jindal because McCain needs independent voters and choosing them will put them off due to Huckabee being a total Jesus freak and Jindal being far to right wing.

McCain and Romney can't stand each other.

Rice is too connected with the Bush Administration.

Lieberman is not a Republican.

Allen's too much of a ****** and a loser.

Sens. Tom Coburn (OK) and Sam Brownback (KS) are two other names which are starting to get mentioned.
