This thread hasn't gotten much love today. I made something to change that.

Oh jeez...

Nah, I got that right away. All that end of days crap. If I had the patience to watch one of those Left Behind movies, I'm pretty sure those Rapturists all believe that crap. You know, some dude'll come along and he'll be charismatic and everyone will trust him and he'll lead us into hell and all that crap?

The Paris and Britney ads got that point across without all the "don't vote for that dude because it was foretold in scripture" subtext.'

EDIT: I just read a little of that Time link and I saw it mentioned the Left Behind books.

Gloves need to be off now, Barack.

The RNC are ruthless and dumb with these ads now.

I'm sure if they had the resources, they'd CGI an action sequence where Obama parts the Hudson River so the derelicts can get back to Jersey.

Election Shocker!
08/08/2008 @ 09:01am

Biblical scholars in Colorado Springs have uncovered startling evidence that Senator John McCain may be the Antichrist. Their conclusions, while highly controversial, may have a dramatic impact on the 2008 elections, since many Bible-believing Christians have already expressed doubts about McCain's fealty to Christianity.

The analysis was conducted by the respected True Bible Society, and it will be published next month in the End Times Journal.

The analysis was especially ironic, given that it came out just one day after McCain was accused of subtly hinting that Barack Obama could be the Antichrist. McCain ran a commercial depicting Obama as "The One," giving rise to charges that he was sending a subliminal messages to anti-Obama Christians.

"What started us looking at this issue is the fact that Senator McCain has declared his intention to maintain US forces in Iraq for a hundred years," said David Jenkins, a leading Biblical scholar. "That means that McCain wants to control Babylon for at least a century." According to many scholars of the Book of Revelation, the Antichrist will try to rebuild the ancient city of Babylon in order to use it as a springboard for an international effort at world domination. Ultimately, the Antichrist will marshal forces from Babylon to spark a showdown with Christian and Jewish-led forces in the battle of Armageddon.

"We believe that the End Times is near, based on the pattern of wars, earthquakes. and other strange phenomena we've been witnessing since the start of the New Millennium," said Jenkins. "Given that it may be imminent, the person who controls Babylon must be the Antichrist." Until 2003, many Christians believed that Saddam Hussein might be the Antichrist, since he started excavations to restore Babylon in the mid 1970s. But Hussein's death meant that the Antichrist is someone else. Since Obama wants to get out of Iraq, he can't be the Antichrist either, concluded Jenkins.

Jenkins said his teams suspicions were further heightened when genealogical research showed that McCain's great-grandfather was actually not John McCain, but John Mihai. Mihai is an ancient Romanian name, and according to Bible-believing Christians, the Antichrist is likely to be a Romanian. "What clinched it for us was that the name Mihai means 'who is like the Lord,'" said Jenkins. "As far as we're concerned, that was enough. It means that McCain might easily pretend to be the Redeemer."

McCain's geniality and folksiness are consistent with his being the Antichrist, Jenkins said. "Many people think that the Antichrist will be a evil-seeming leader, but in fact the Bible tells us that he will be charming."

So far the McCain campaign has refused to comment on Jenkins' study.

That ad is WAY over the line.:whatever:

Not really. Its no worse than the swift vet ads, which just told lies. Hell, its really no worse than any of the personal insults you and countless other Obama supporters have taken at McCain. All that ad does is give a comical twist to Obama's own words (and it is funny to an extent, IMO). Its hardly the worst thing we've ever seen in modern politics and will probably be a hell of a lot more civil than many of the PAC ads that will come from both sides as we move on through September and October.

Well, the Anti-Christ probably WOULD call his own wife a c**t! :hehe: I love the creativity of this group of Christians. This Anti-Christ stuff is just such B.S. where this election is concerned and I'm glad to see someone from their own ranks poking fun at it.

I thought the c**t rumor was debunked?

I thought the c**t rumor was debunked?

I've never heard it debunked. There sure are a lot of vids on Youtube featuring clips from legitimate news shows talking about it, though. It's just such an awesome rumor that I prefer to think it's true until someone conclusively proves otherwise because it amuses me, so. :hehe:

:lmao: It is an awesome rumor, mostly because I think the word gets an unfair wrap. Plus any time I hear it I think about the Curb Your Enthusiasm episode. With his temper, and constant pandering, but mostly good intentions, I sort of see John McCain as a Larry David-esque figure and I could see him sitting in a campaign meeting discussing it and conceding "In retrospect, I probably should've said *****."

OH MY GAWD!

you've actually lost all objectivity haven't you Matt?
well, not lost it, as much as driven it to the edge of town opened your car door and then, after your objectivity naively stepped out to smell the clean forest air, driven off without it, cackling like a madman.

first, you and I in 2004 fiercely decried the swift vet Ads, I mean fiercely more than one time did either, you, I or someone else call them "over the line" and shameful, to try to justify it as "it's not as bad as what's to come"?
c'mon now, you CAN be objective and call ******** on that can't you?
I mean, the worst part to me?is the fact that you compare a tv ad with "personal insults" from people on message boards.
perhaps you forget, but that's not the standard to which these proceedings are to be held, else all presidential addresses about the economy would start with "WTF?" and end with "LOL"
I guess the Obama camp can hire someone to shoot McCain now, since there was this one guy that claimed he would, I mean, in your eyes it wouldn't be "any worse" would it?
seriously, it's pathetic to see all the people I mean ALL the people that once fiercely defended Kerry to go after Obama, the worst thing? aside from the fact the Kerry indeed had more experience, the charges have been similar "elitism" being one of them, of course back then...you and others that now merrily chime in with your own outrage about how uppity Obama is, defended Kerry and called those acussations "idiotic""baseless""insane" etc.
JEEEEEEE-SUS I can't understand this deep dislike for Obama Matt, I really can't since he has been no worse than any democratic candidate in the last 20 years, and far better than the last couple of republican candidates that the GOP has served up.
you know, it's tough for me, as an outside observer to NOT chalk up this one up to race, since charges like "socialism" than, for any other candidate would've been laughed off or justified into the ground, for this poor chump, they seem to stick, all the while people willingly ignore the failings of the other guy, deep failings in the same exact areas that are so stringently criticized in Obama.
seriously, objectively it seems suspicious.

The difference is the swift vets lied...straight out lied about a man's service record. The, "the one" ad uses Obama's actual quotes. These are things he said. Therefore there is no reason they aren't fair game to use in a political campaign.

all attacks adds use "actual quotes" Matt, all out of context or edited to sound damming.
hell, this ads makes it seem as being certain of something is bad, and you're saying "hey...it's ok!" it just seems that you have gone a "flip-flopped" from your previous standpoint in 2004 guess, you're kind of like McCain and Obama on that one, so I'm afraid your character is now doubtful in my book, I don;t think you're fit to lead Matt, how dare you sir? how dare you?

Because Obama has never used any of McCain's words out of context (like the hundred year thing).

I'm gonna just ignore your attempts to make things personal.

meh, do whatever you feel like doing, and have become so far removed from your former quasi-sane self from 4 years ago that you can't even recognize when you're not being objective and can't recognize a damned sean penn impression when something is a damned joke.

damn Matt, I insist that you are now what used to make fun of in 2004.

but hey, I was watching the Olympics yesterday with some friends, and I realized something, we saw like 4 ads for the Presidency of the USA yesterday, two McCain ads and Two Obama at least in SD both McCain ads where attacks ads and both Obama's where not.
infact, when one of the attack ads for McCain came on, one of my friends said "really? that's the best they could do? really?" and another chimed in "well, it doesn't matter what they do, Obama is going to lose anyway, because those ads work better than just being positive like Obama's " and I kind of realized they were right.

so officially, I don't care anymore, you can all realize later on your mistake, like Tuki did the last time

I get the feeling that Reagan is in Hell or Heaven or wherever it is he wound up shouting "Tell McCain to stop talking about me!!!!"
