Sequels The "Milo Ventimiglia as Peter Parker" Thread

I cried for the entre day the moment it was announced here that Grace was cast as Brock because that meant he couldn't replace Maguire.

Yeah... I really liked him as Brock though. He was wasted, but he stole every scene he was in, I think.

There are much better choices for Peter than Grace. Enough with you people crying already. And Brock and Venom were wasted for two decades in the comics, which was matched perfectly on screen (except the comics wasn't smart enough to kill' em), now allow yourselves to breath for once.

No he wouldn't. Bad acting is not needed, no thank you.

It is like when Freddie Prinze Jr. auditioned for Spidey and thought he had it and Sam said something along the lines of "No, he isn't casat, in fact I hopeh e doesn't even see the movie,," after meeting with Prinze who then went ot thep ress and said he'd get the part.

He cast a good character actor who had some indie stardom (Maguire). We don't need another Maguire and I doubt we'd get an actor of that calibur to be spidey in 4 or 5 but we can shoot higher than bad tv actors, though.

I really like that idea.

Besides, he pretty much carries Heroes alongside like 2 others, so I don't think he's a bad actor.

What about Wes Bently? He'd be a good fit.

Edit: Wait, I just remebered his turn in Ghost Rider...that's too bad....he was great in American Beauty.

Well, if Milo were to be Peter, he'd have played two characters with the same initials.

To be honest, he'd have been great if Tobey never appeared. He wouldn't be a good follow up.

He'd be very different then Macguire. I don't think he'd have the goofy quality to him that Macguire has. He'd have more of an edge to him . I want any actor whether it be Justin Long, Gordon -Levitt, or JG to do something different with the role and not try to mimic Macguire. I

I had the same thought. I think that, if he hadn't already done Venom, Topher would be my #1 or #2 choice to replace Tobey Maguire.

Same here. He played a geekish guy in That 70's show, so he could pull of Parker and he could pull off Spidey's jokes way better than Tobey. He was great as Venom, but he had so little screen time, it wasn't worth it. I wish he'd never had taken the job as Venom.

The talking out of one side of his mouth is off putting. He was perfect casting for Sly's son in Rocky 324.

His look is on-par with the Parker look, as is Gyllenhaal's but I'd rather keep Maguire. Even so, if we NEED a replacement I think I'd go with Jake. His voice is similar to Tobey's (in my opinion) in pitch and all you'd have to do is lighten his hair. Tobey rules all though.

I would go with Jake before Milo. Milo looks and talks as if he had a stroke. He is a great actor and I love him in Heroes...he is just not right for Spider-Man.

Im sorry but no.
I think he'd be a terrible Peter Parker,
He doesn't look like Peter and he doesn't look like a college students, he looks too much like an adult.

Milo Ventimiglia is too cool! I first saw him as Rocky's son in "ROCKY BALBOA" (a movie with more heart than I ever dared to dream of!), and I instantly liked him! Than I saw him in HEROES as Peter Petrelli, and I LOVED HIM! He's so cool! and he just so happens to be the most badass hero of them all!!!... Hey, Peter Parker, Peter Petrelli... is there a surden simularity there!???

I think Milo would be a great choice for a more grown up Peter Parker! That beeing said, I still really love Maguire as Peter Parker too!... But IF they were going for a new aproach to Peter Parker, Milo would propably be very cool! Although he'd be NOTHING like Tobey's Peter Parker! However, if they went for a guy like Milo as Peter, they would clearly want him to be different... Although I doubt this will ever happen.

The problem with a lot of these choices for Tobey Maguire's replacement are that, by the time the next movie is filmed, they will be pushing their mid-30s. Peter Parker is supposed to be in college and most likely going into grad school. By 2010 Tobey Maguire will be 35. And if he does another trilogy he'll be damn near 40. Milo Ventimiglia is only two years younger than Maguire. Even Gyllenhaal and Gordon-Levitt are inching up on 27, which means they would work for one movie, then they'd be too old. I don't think a stopgap Spidey would work, for obvious reasons. The best solution is an unknown thats young, mid-20s at most, and because he's not famous can disappear into the Peter Parker role.
