The most anticipated villian.

oh yea , and the "real "Green Goblin" , not that green matalic power ranger guy from the first movie or that g.i.joe ninja guy on a snow board guy from this movie

The Vulture
The Lizard
Could care less about Venom

Whoa, slow down homeslice.

The old fart in green spandex aint in the film, nor is the Lizard only curt connors.

The villains are;

Venom
Sandman
Harry

Which rock have you been under?

To me SM2 didn't really illicit an interest because I had already seen the exemplifcation of the classic Spider-Man stories in the appearance of Norman in the first film. So my anticipation for Venom is much higher in villain anticipation than others. I'm happy that Raimi's focusing more on Brock and fleshing him out instead of making him the goon in a suit the comics never really developed him past.

I'm split on the New Goblin and the Sandman, but Raimi's given me two solid films up until now worthy of classic status and I trust that he'll show me on May 4th how they move the plot along.

Postscript: what's with all the vitriol towards Venom? So he's being hyped- do you really think Sony wasn't going to market the character? Grace is doing a good job on the performance from what I can see. Give the character a chance.

To be honest, i'm looking forward to the film as a whole. It's not just the villains, it's the entire plot i'm excited to see. I'm a big fan of the first two, I see see reason why 3 will be any less extraordinary, in fact I think it will top the previous two IMO.

Just never been much of a Venom fan , he was pretty cool when he first came out , but then he became so over exposed I pretty much got tired of him , maybe not so much the character himself , just the multipule writers over the years have made him a joke , I even saw him in a Charlie Brown comic once but Snoopy took care of him , but I do have to give Sam alot of credit , I read the movie novelization and he follows both Eddie Brocks and Venoms origin almost right down to the letter , that much I'm excited about

Fair enough, Village_Idiot.

I think Raimi will do the whole venom saga justice.

Sam Raimi made Green Goblin look good...how could he have Green Goblin look like he does in the comics or from TAS?

And don't get me started if you wanted Green Goblin to look like the Ultimate version.

Well I wouldn't exactly say I cried , but I was kinda bumbed , yea , yea I know the Vulture has always been kinda lame , but still he's always been one of my favorite villains , I just figure with today's special effects and maybe a little character tweaking the Vulture could be pretty cool , well , maybe next movie....LOL

Vulture is an old man though...how can you tweak that lame-ass character? He's old...I, plus many other people, would laugh at the sight of a old fart in a vulture costume...Spider-Man: The Movie Game made Vulture very easy to fight, and that's just it, Vulture would be WAY to easy to fight.

And that breaks your heart, v4l. Admit it, you're gutted you're not getting to see this:

Oh, and I GUARANTEE that once this movie is released, we shall be inundated with Venom fanboys complaining he was only in for 10 minutes and that he dies. The movie could be the greatest of all time, but we'd still get that.

That is why you should not get riled up for Venom.

Meh, I could post a crappy picture of Doc Ock to make a point, too.

Vulture could work very well as a minor villain, supported by much larger villains. Kinda like Venom in SM3.

What do you mean a crappy picture?? That is what the Vulture looks like. The only change in his appearance thru the years is when he turned young for a while.

The costume has always been the spandex and green bird wings.

The only time his costume changed was in MK SM, where he had the black armor, but since he went back to green spandex. IMO the black armor was an improvment.

Not talking about the costume.

The picture represents him as being a grumpy old man. He has been represented better many times, looking incredibly creepy.

Venom is the villian I'm most definatley excited about. I am a bit annoyed that he's being shoved into this movie though, he's a character that really needs two full movies to develop fully, and I also believe he deserves to be one of the main villians, not tacked on at the end.

One thing that has always annoyed me was the fact that they made Sandman the main villian of this movie. Now, don't get me wrong, I have nothing against Sandman, I've always liked him, but why go through all the troubble of inventing a backstory for a character, and then take a much more popular villian, one that already has an established backstory and history in the comics, and shove him into a third act?

It just annoys me, because I've always believed that Venom deserves to be a main villian, or share screen time with only one other villian while he's the main focus.

actually in the cartoon it looked a bit better, more high tech and such.

This thread is useless... There's individual threads for each villain so you can post your opinions there.

Yeah I was literally sobbing, I shut all the curtains and cried in my bed. I sobbed for days when I found out that some old geezer in strange dance spandex with turkey feathers wasn't going to be one of the villains in SM-3. I mourned the fact that I would never see the 1 minute of Vulture being in the film, where he is quickly introduced, attempts to attack spidey and breaks a hip in the process.

Oh no, we could've had lame villains like the Lizard, pfft to Venom and the entire symbiote saga, and hell, screw GG2! To hell with the Hobgoblin, to hell with the possible return of Otto Octavius, or even Electro, or hell, even the Scorpion, no what we need is an old crusty fart who probably smells like mothballs and ritz crackers. Because simply there are no better villains out there! NUH-UH! Nope, negative, venom4life, WTF were you thinking?

But a day came when I stopped crying, I felt a new burst of energy in my chest, that someday that hope would arrive. I looked to the sky and saw a pigeon ****ting on the neighbors cars, I lol'd, slammed back a beer and waltzed down the street singing that I was walking on sunshine! Sunshine!!!!

In fact this poem comes to mind;

The most happiest man.......

Happiness is the most important
thing for you to achieve in your life
Happiness can not be gained
It is earned by your heart
Happiness can be found
When you are close to God and obeying his words
Happiness can be found
When you show your kindness to others
Happiness can be found
When you are nice to those you hate
Happiness can be found
When you help others
Happiness are the love and kindness
And learn to enjoy what ever comes along
Happiness is not far away from you
It is close to you heart
Happiness is serving God for all eternity
and once you fulfilled your wish
then you are the most happiest man.

With that I leave with a big smile, filled with new hope and that one day, we will get the Vulture! Here's to a happy time period between films, to the sequel, to the sky!

Johnny Blaze put it best in the Ghost Rider comics: I want some of the loco weed Raimi was trying out when he thought of what could be his last Spider-Man film and had the Vulture come to mind. Just...no. venom4life put it perfectly in his satirical post. Outside of USM and TAS, there haven't been half-decent attempts at adapting the character to an age where he comes across as a silly cuckold who must really hate Thanksgiving. Even in the books he's a filler villain. The only reason I can withstand his presence in Blue is because Loeb wrote a good story that validates the time spent on him. A Spider-Man film with the Sandman and the Vulture would be seriously disappointing and depressingly droll.

Hmmm.... so we were going to get New Goblin,Sandman and Vulture. Sandman and vulture teaminig up at the end against Harry and Spiderman. It would have been an aerial battle for the ages. Harry vs Vulture. Does it make your toes curl?
