First Class without Scott and Jean? I got over it.
Spider-Man without Mary-Jane or Harry Osborn? Upsetting, but I'll live. . .
Now, Superman without Lois Lane as the female lead?!? I just. . .
This was posted last Feb 1st, two days ago by Moviefone:

Looks like she will be in the movie, but won't have a big role.
Was this posted yet? Hollywood Insider got some more info as to who is still in the running:
A great, previously-spot-on contact at Warner Bros (granted, hes not actually on that particular production) had told me earlier in the week that hed heard such names as Kristen Stewart, Rachel McAdams, Jessica Biel and Dianna Agron had either met or were going to meet for the role of the female lead in Man of Steel. Since then theres been several more contender announced. Latino Review even had solid word that Olivia Wilde was up for the role.
Now, according to the trades, Diane Kruger, Alice Eve and Rosamund Pike have emerged as the frontrunners for this role - a role, they add, is not Lois Lane.
First things first, I only assumed it was Lois Lane these girls were battling it out for. My guy just said female lead. I joined the dots myself . wouldnt you? Is there any other lead female in the Superman world? (Not Smallville world, but Superman world). Could it be that Lois isnt in the movie? Sounds unlikely
First things first, I just dropped rumored contender Kristina Anapau an email to see what she could tell me.
I dont know what I can tell you - youre very warm all of the names on your previous list were or are still in the running for this role last I heard. Theyre swaying between big names and smaller names. I cant tell you specifics of the role - I dont know what I can say, sorry.
So, Anapau wouldnt say whether it was Lois either, but did confirm that her prospective competition did include McAdams, Stewart etc.
Just swapped an email with my contact and asked him which role theyre all going for.
He answers, Havent read the script, dont know.
So thats a dead-end.
As for whether or not theres any truth to Varietys claim that Pike, Eve and Kruger are the new frontrunners?
Things are changing every day on that movie - things changed a lot when a British Superman was cast. Whats happening here is the filming location may be dictating the casting. Did you notice none of those girls you just mentioned are Americans? I dont think its got as much to do with them not wanting to overshadow Superman, as that article suggests
As for whether or not Kristen Stewart tested - which her reps say she didnt.
I dont know if she tested, but they were interested in her at one point. It was common knowledge. I think the conversations went mute when Snow White was put on the table - you cant be chasing two projects of that size at the same time.
So, right now, heres what we know :
- Theres a female lead up for grabs.
- A number of actresses, both known (Rachel McAdams, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Kristen Stewart) and unknown (Dianna Agron, Kristina Anapau) have tested/met about the film at one point over the past few weeks.
- The fact that a British actor has been cast as Superman, and further, that the movie mightnt be filming in the U.S, is starting to dictate the casting of the female lead.

It's not a bird, it's not a plane, but it's a Superman scoop you want to read about.
Most recently the powers that be, aka the producers, of Zack Synder's take on Superman released to the trades the names of three actresses who are in contention to play a character who is "undisclosed" for the time being.
Auditioning through slides are British actress Alice Eve, German actress Diane Kruger and British actress Rosamund Pike. The trades also stated that these three are not vying for the part of Lois Lane.
There are many are speculating that Lois Lane will not be in the film, but as a buddy of mine recently said, "Superman without Lois Lane is like having Batman without Alfred."
While bloggers and fans have been scratching their heads trying to figure out which character Synder has them coming out for, LatinoReview has been alerted by a most trusted reliable source that two things are going to occur.
1: Lois Lane WILL be in the film.
2: The character these lovely actresses have come out for is no other than a Kryptonion villainess who is going by the name of URSA.
Now expect the powers that be to deny deny and deny. As Superman fans can recall the character URSA was in both "Superman: The Movie" and "Superman II" played by British actress Sarah Douglas.
This will lead many to wonder wether or not General Zod will be in the film as URSA, along with Zod, were two thirds of the criminals banished by Jor-El to the Phantom Zone.
Now Zack Synder has gone on record stating that General Zod will not be in the film, stating, For now, its just a rumor. But directors and screenwriters often make changes before shooting begins.
With production on the film beginning this summer with a late 2012 release date expect decisions to be made shortly regarding the principal cast.
If Ursa is in, Zod can't be too far behind.
I like.Let's get Swanky!
Nope.Oh, is Tim Burton directing this?
I swear, I'm the only one on this board that cares little to nothing for her. And she wasn't cast as anything over at Marvel.I would have said Yvonne Strahovski, too bad Marvel has already cast her as Ms Marvel in Avengers.
Kruger is definitely a top choice for me as well.Looks wise, they are all smokin but I think the best overall choice would be Diane Kruger. She's hot, a good actress but has a left over of that german glacial personality to her that gives me the heebie jeebies.
And to the naysayers HBC is damn sexy.
Agreed.Damn ****ing straight she's sexy
Agreed, surprisingly though, it's hard to find good pictures of her online. If it were my movie, I'd cast Rosamond Pike, who I've always found to be extremely hot!
Realistically, from a marketing angle, I'd cast Michelle Rodriguez. Michelle can play the part of a woman who looks like she probably hates men and most importantly, can kick your ass! While I agree with that for Rodriguez, I feel HBC and Kurylenko fit that mold as well.
This is ridiculous, she's only a couple of years older than Shannon and looks his age if not younger. Are we really going to get stupid about the age of the actress chosen for Faora as well?Helena Bonham Carter is too old. Maybe she can play Faora's mother in a flashback scene.

I'd still hit it.
Helena Bonham Carter, who I think is great, doesn't really strike me as a great action star, someone who would pull off looking tough in martial arts fights etc. for the role. But there actually seems like quite a short list of potential female action stars for this, unfortunately.
She played a good action orangutan in Planet of the Apes. And a good action head in Terminator Salvation.
I think Swank is a good actress, but she seems to alternate between amazing performances (Boys Don't Cry, Million Dollar Baby) and horrible ones (Freedom Writers, The Reaping, Amelia). Still, if she was cast in this, I'd be happy with the choice.
http://www.deadline.com/2011/04/warner-bros-near-man-of-steel-villainess/I'm told that German actress Antje Traue is the frontrunner to join Michael Shannon as the villainess of the Zack Snyder-directed Superman film Man of Steel. Since Shannon is playing General Zod, might Traue be playing his accomplice, Ursa, who appeared in the first two Superman films? Traue starred with Ben Foster and Dennis Quaid in Pandorum, and she is currently in Sweden shooting the Peter Flinth-directed Nobels Testament. Traue has been in the hunt for a big studio role. She tested for The Rite, which went to Alice Braga, and also met Marc Forster to play Brad Pitt's character's wife in World War Z, a role that went to The Killing star Mireille Enos. She is repped by Greene & Associates, Spielkind in Germany and UK's Troika.
