Gary Busey is still a better choice than Billy Zane at this point.

yeah i don't get billy zane hate some people act like he is hayden christensen

he is a solid actor who can play a great villain he was great in titanic very cunning and snake like

but for me i want a more challenging casting choice

Bruce Willis would be good. I think he could be a great bad guy, as he was in the Jackal.
I also would love to see Denzel Washington, but people would freak out about a black Lex Luthor.

I really doubt anybody would. Nobody here has, and we fanboys are the only group really likely to care.

I just hope this doesn't end up like the Moriarty casting in Sherlock Holmes 2.

Guy Richie was like, "We're going to get a huge name to play Sherlock's #1 nemesis, like Daniel Day Lewis!"

And then we get Lane from Mad Men. He was okay, but honestly, I think Mark Strong played a better Moriarty in the first film (even though he wasn't Moriarty).

I'm not saying we need a big name actor, but I'll be pissed if they cast someone totally underwhelming. On the other hand, I hope they don't cast a big name who is completely wrong for the part (**cough**Bruce Willis**cough**).

Hah! Touche. Be careful, though, for you may get Damon Lindelhof.

What about Matt Damon?

High profile name that WB would love, along with some serious acting chops....also cast against type which would be a good move in my opinion. It worked with Ledger.

As others have already said, Mark Strong is too safe of a choice.

It's gotta be a big name. Aside from The Joker, Lex Luthor is the most iconic villain ever. You gotta have a Jack Nicholson, a Heath Ledger, a Gene Hackman, someone huge and inspiring, yet surprising.

I'm telling you:

1. Denzel Washington
2. Leonardo DiCaprio
3. Bruce Willis
4. Matthew McConaughey
5. Vince Vaughn
6. Tom Hanks

7. Jon Hamm
8. Bradley Cooper
9. Ryan Gosling
10. Jake Gyllenhaal
11. Joaquin Phoenix
12. Josh Brolin

I am so convinced, so utterly sure that it'll be one of these 12 men (bonus points for me if it's one of the top 6 - but not limited to), that I will officially guarantee it. I guarantee it's one of the 12 gentlemen above.

If I'm wrong, I don't see there being many choices left. You'd have to either go for a name not as big, or a huge name that wouldn't exactly fit the part to a tee.

13. Brad Pitt
14. Matt Damon
15. Jude Law
16. Michael C. Hall

^ I would think those are the last resorts.

Don't forget Star Trek Into Darkness too.

They are specifically trying to avoid that.

Give us Daniel Day Lewis for Luthor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Or Denzel....

Ledger was considered huge and inspiring before playing Joker?

LOL, another good example. Didn't the writers say they wanted to get Javier Bardem to play Khan? That would have been so epic.

But to be fair, I was really excited when I saw that Cumberbatch was playing the villain in STID.

Then I saw the movie... :csad:

Allow me to clarify. I think Cumberbatch is an amazing actor; one of the best out there today. And it wasn't even that he was bad in STID. I just felt he was miscast, and his character was written poorly. The latter isn't his fault, but it almost seemed as if they deliberately changed the character to suit the actor, as part of their "let's keep the villain's identity a secret" thing.

I thought Cumberbatch did good and Khan was good, but in the end I felt Khan was underutilized.

Damon is actually one of the better suggestions I've heard, but I think you're right overall. They need a big name, A-list actor (don't think #16 qualifies).

It would be funny if they just went ahead and cast Daniel Day-Lewis. :funny:

Matt Damon would suck.

DDL, Leo, Denzel, McCoughaney post INTERSTELLAR...for other out of left choices, Bradley Cooper, Ryan Gosling, Will Smith, Jude Law,

Denzel would send buzz through the roof, though.

problem with cumberbatch is he was nowhere near as chilling, intimidating or as good as Montalban
