No actor is worth that much. RDJ is an incredible talent but he should be ashamed of himself for taking that big of a paycheck when the industry as a whole is struggling and screenwriters, effects people and others are just scraping by. I get that as an actor you want a big payday but come on, man. **** like this could not only make the MCU implode but it could have damaging repercussions across the entire industry.
Kinda funny too with that video making the rounds of RDJ in the early 90's talking s*** about stock brokers for being greedy a**holes
I know he came out of prison a conservative but this is ridiculous lol

And we'll hear about inevitable cost-cutting elsewhere (like pay for VFX and lower level crew) as a result.
Yeah, he helped his costars get big paydays after Avengers, but f*** the crew I guess

So he’s being paid a Brinks truck full of cash to play a role that no one wanted him to play. That makes sense.

Yeah, he’s a good actor. Oppenheimer solidified that much. But honestly, when looking at people who I thought created characters whom I cared about in the MCU, I could name several who I liked more.
I get that Tony’s character is supposed to be arrogant and jerkish, but RDJ’s natural snarkiness just put the whole thing over the top. He was basically unlikable to the point of irredeemable for me. Maybe that’s what was supposed to happen, but I don’t know that it was.

But...but Joe Russo said he's the only person who could have played Doom so he deserves every penny of the nearly quarter of a billion dollars he'll get. :o

I personally love his portrayal of Tony, though I know not everyone does. I can certainly see how it would be polarizing. But I think that, on the whole, it was undeniably successful both as a standalone character and as a launchpad for the entire MCU. So he deserves credit for that.

But this Dr. Doom thing… there are so many problems with it, not the least of which is the fact that it would feel like a miscast even if RDK hasn’t played Tony Stark (a role that he was perfectly cast in IMO). It’s just frustrating to me that Marvel’s (arguably) greatest villain is going to be miscast for the third time in a row.

I also wanted Doom to be built up over a long time starting as a F4 villain (ideally in the second film) and with the Kang storyline running it felt like we could get that. He could have had the tenure of Loki while being an even more significant character - eventually bigger than Thanos and with the most history of any multi-phase ending vilain.

Now we’re going to lose Kang and Doom soon and not get a RDJ Stark variant and pay $200m!!

95 million dollars plus a cut of the box office AND bonuses if/when these Avengers sequels really take off?

With all of this greed and hubris, RDJ is definitely pitch perfect as Doom.

I don't blame the underpaid VFX artists at Marvel for phoning it in.

I saw it in college, youngster.

And I bet you still have your college boy good looks, Grandpaw Billy.

The Doctor Doom thing sucks regardless if he is a Stark variant or not. But yeah, this rush job is totally worth never getting the proper Fantastic Four vs Doctor Doom movie I always wanted that wasn't complete trash!

Holland's salary has to be approaching RDJ level at this point too. Two billion plus Spidey flicks and the last one nearly made 2 bill. Supporting role in Civil War, IW & EG all also made over a billion. And when it comes to the heroes he will most certainly be the biggest name draw of Doomsday & Secret Wars.

Apparently he made $10M for No Way Home and he might be making $20M for the next one. Pretty high but that's basically chump change compared to RDJ.

Now my question is, with Deadpool & Wolverine becoming this box office juggernaut (no pun) and giving the MCU another jolt of life, how much does Ryan Reynolds take home for the inevitable sequel?
It also occurred to me that Reynolds and Jackman along with Maguire and Garfield and whoever else is a part of the big Secret Wars parade (cameo or otherwise) will all likely be taking home massive paychecks.

Not as much as Hugh Jackman when Wolverine becomes the MCU's new anchor being

Too much.
I actually think that Reynolds is essential for Deadpool, HOWEVER you would think that with all the other sources of income Reynolds has between the gin company, cell phone service and being co-owner of a championship winning soccer football team he'd be humble enough to accept SAG minimum for playing the role. :o

I guess RDJ's salary going public gives him leverage then.

Though keep in mind here that the Spidey side comes out of Sony's pockets still.

I think we're a long way away from seeing Holland get that kind of payout, if at all. RDJ only has that leverage because he's one of the main reasons why the MCU took off in the first place.

I’m sure he’s earning absolutely tons. The reason RDJ stands out on his own in earning potential to me is that he is a totally dominant part of why the character succeeded and why that character then went on to lead the whole MCU. RDJ’s real life personality took over the character and personified the banter of the MCU that the GA seemed to fall for from a totally new hero (a bit like Reynolds with Deadpool who didn’t have the MCU to play off till now, but still isn’t a lead character of the universe).

On the other hand we’ve had successful Spider-Man actors before and likely will again. Tom is great as both Spidey and Parker but a new actor won’t need to imitate Holland to get accepted by a future audience.

Despite all that, RDJ’s worth as Doom is way way less and Feige and co have massively overpaid.

He’s worth a lot as in that film he is the key driver. A Deadpool film isn’t a true ensemble. The whole film is done in Deadpool/Reynolds style and on that platform he can bring in equal co-stars and team members but Reynolds is the most important. Now that he has the whole MCU to play with there are probably multi-film contracts being written up right now, assuming he wants to keep going.
